‘Devastated' Giants receiver Bryce Ford-Wheaton suffers season-ending Achilles tear at training camp
The thought process had to be the same for Bryce Ford-Wheaton and so many others within the Giants on Sunday when testing confirmed that the depth receiver and special-teams coverage standout suffered a season-ending torn Achilles.
Ford-Wheaton, 25, crumbled to the ground without contact at the snap during one play in Sunday's practice. He got to his feet, took another step or two, spiked his helmet in frustration and went down again.

Teammates quickly ran over, dropped to a knee and huddled around the emotional Ford-Wheaton as he was loaded onto the medical cart and taken off the field.
'I'd be lying if I said I wasn't devastated!' Ford-Wheaton wrote on X. 'I did everything by the book! Didn't take a single shortcut, left no stone unturned, invested everything into my body and my health this year.
'I'm not sure why me but I promise I'm not going out on these terms. It's a long road ahead for sure but I know this is just part of Gods plan for me no matter how tough it may seem right now. Thank you all for your prayers, please continue to keep me in them. I WILL be back that's a promise!! God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers!'

It is the second time in three seasons that Ford-Wheaton suffered a season-ending injury during the preseason.
He tore his ACL just before cut day as an undrafted rookie with a strong chance to make the team in 2023, and bounced back to play in 14 games last season.
The Giants signed linebacker Chris Board during the offseason to fill a similar special teams role. And undrafted rookie receiver Dalen Cambre — a long shot to make the roster when camp opened — is in the NFL right now because of his special-teams excellence in college.

More than a hundred are set to be fined and/or lose their allocation for the next two Super Bowls after league sources revealed they sold their tickets for more than face value. 'Our initial investigation has determined that a number of NFL players and coaches, employed by several NFL Clubs, sold Super Bowl tickets for more than the ticket's face value in violation of the policy,' NFL chief compliance officer Sabrina Perel said in a memo sent out to all 32 NFL teams. The 100 players represent a little over 6% of the entire NFL player rosters. But per an ESPN report, there are team employees, including coaches, who are among the number who sold their tickets. 'This long-standing League Policy, which is specifically incorporated into the Collective Bargaining Agreement, prohibits League or Club employees, including players, from selling NFL game tickets acquired from their employer for more than the ticket's face value or for an amount greater than the employee originally paid for the ticket, whichever is less,' the memo continued. Players and team personnel sold the tickets to 'bundlers' who were working with resellers, per the memo. Penalties will increase for anyone deemed to be working with the bundlers to help facilitate sales. Fines would be one and a half times what the player or employee sold the ticket for, and they would lose the chance to acquire them for the next two Super Bowls. There could also be suspensions involved. Some of the players involved have already elected to pay the fines. Those who lose their allotment would only be able to purchase tickets if they are playing in the Super Bowl. The league would not release names of players, coaches or team personnel who were part of the crackdown. Tickets for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, which resulted in a 40-22 win for the Philadelphia Eagles vs. the Kansas City Chiefs, ranged in cost from $2,588 to nearly $3,500 for the cheapest seats. On the high end, some tickets were more than $10,000. Mauricio and Soto lead Mets past Giants 5-3 for 7th straight win
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Ronny Mauricio and Juan Soto homered in the seventh inning, and the New York Mets beat the San Francisco Giants 5-3 on Sunday to match a season best with their seventh straight win. Mauricio had a career-high four hits, going 4 for 4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a tying homer from the bottom spot in the batting order. Jeff McNeil also doubled twice to help the Mets complete a three-game sweep and extend their NL East lead to 1 1/2 games over Philadelphia. Matt Chapman hit two homers and drove in all three runs for the Giants, who loaded the bases in the ninth on two walks and a hit batter. Edwin Díaz struck out Willy Adames and Chapman to end it. The Mets, who also had a seven-game winning streak in April, trailed 3-2 following Chapman's second homer, a two-run drive off starter Kodai Senga in the fifth. Ronny Mauricio powers Mets past Giants with first career four-hit night: ‘He made it look easy'
Ronny Mauricio is finding his groove at the big-league level. The young slugger had his hands all over the Mets' Sunday night win over the Giants. Mauricio and Francisco Alvarez started rallies that led to New York's first three runs -- lining back-to-back singles leading off the third and then a pair of doubles in the top of the fifth. After the Giants jumped in front on Matt Chapman's second homer of the night, the Mets responded right back, as Mauricio crushed a slider from All-Star righty Randy Rodriguez into McCovey Cove to even things back up. A few batters later, Juan Soto pushed the Mets in front with a solo shot of his own. 'He wanted to hit one in the water, he told me since the beginning,' Soto said postgame. 'I knew I hit it well,' Mauricio added. 'It felt really good because I saw a couple of home runs of Barry Bonds hitting them into the ocean, so for me to be able to do that too that's feeling really good.' And the 24-year-old wasn't done there, as he led off the top of the ninth ripping an opposite-field double, which eventually led to the pinch-running Luisangel Acuña scoring a big insurance run. Mauricio finished his first career four-hit showing, three of which went for extra-bases. 'He was incredible, it's nice to see it,' Carlos Mendoza said. 'He continues to get comfortable, he continues to have really good at-bats controlling the strike zone and then doing damage on pitches in the zone. 'We saw it today with the homer against Rodriguez, a pretty tough arm to the pull side and then he goes the other way in that last at-bat after getting into a hitters count, not trying to do too much, just the ability to go the other way -- he made it look easy.' Mauricio is now up to a .760 OPS on the season. Alvarez has hits in six straight, and three extra base knocks since returning. Mark Vientos delivered the go-ahead hit on Saturday to extend his hitting streak. Brett Baty looks the most comfortable he's been at the big-league level. Starling Marte has also been red hot since returning from his brief IL stint. The bottom of the order finally pitching in while the big boppers go through their little funk has shown the depth and potential this lineup can have down the stretch. 'One through nine, I feel like anybody in that lineup can take you deep,' Mendoza said. 'That's why we never feel like we're out of a game, a couple of guys get on then next thing you know you get the tying run to the plate and anybody can clip anybody. 'We've been saying it all year, when those guys are clicking we're a pretty good offense.'
