The 2025 NHL Draft took on a new format, but the Los Angeles Kings made sure the energy didn't fade. While most teams worked behind closed doors, the Kings created a fan-first moment that stole the spotlight by letting a 17-year-old supporter announce one of their official draft picks live on stage.

LA Kings
make a teen fan's dream come true
Despite concerns surrounding the NHL's decision to bring back a decentralized draft format reminiscent of the COVID-19 era, the Los Angeles Kings made it personal. With over 3,000 fans in attendance and thousands watching on TV and online, the league leaned heavily on high-end cameras and advanced technology to deliver the event. Still, many feared the lack of a traditional draft stage would drain the experience of its usual excitement.
That's when the Kings did something extraordinary.
In a post on X, the LA Kings shared a screenshot of a fan interaction captioned, 'Always shoot your shot.' The post featured 17-year-old fan Jeremy Roth, who commented that he could hype up the crowd better than NHL Central Scouting Director Dan Marr. The Kings noticed the comment and turned it into a real opportunity during the 2025 NHL Draft.

The Kings didn't just respond, they invited Roth to join NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly during the draft. From the upper deck, Roth got the crowd chanting 'Go Kings Go' before taking the mic to make it official:
'With the 24th pick of the 7th round of the 2025 NHL Draft, the Los Angeles Kings select defenseman Will Sharpe from the Kelowna Rockets in the Western Hockey League.'

It's these small but powerful gestures that turn casual supporters into lifelong fans.

IND vs ENG Test: ‘Chosen twice' – Rishabh Pant shares emotional message on India's T20 World Cup win anniversary

Rishabh Pant posted an emotional message on his Instagram. A year on since their historic triumph in Barbados in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa, India's wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has recalled a heartfelt message about how life gave him a second chance. "Not many know what it feels like to be chosen twice — once by life, once by death," read one of Pant's Instagram stories. In his first tournament back in India colours after being out for nearly 14 months due to his injury setback from a road accident, Pant had failed to light up the final with the bat, bagging a duck. But Pant was instrumental in orchestrating a stoppage in play by signalling to his injured knee when South Africa needed 26 runs in four overs with six wickets in hand. Reflecting on the incident, Pant had previously told Star Sports: 'I was actually thinking what to do because the momentum had suddenly shifted (in South Africa's favour), they had scored plenty of runs in 2-3 overs, so I was thinking when that moment would come when we would win the World Cup final. 'I was asking the physio to take time. When Rohit bhai asked if my knee was fine, I said, 'Bhaiya, bas acting kar raha tha' (I was acting all this while). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Perdagangkan CFD Emas dengan Broker Tepercaya IC Markets Mendaftar Undo Sometimes you have to do these types of things in matches. I'm not saying it works every time, but it does work sometimes, and if it works at that kind of moment, then nothing like it,' he added. Meanwhile, India's title-winning captain Rohit Sharma thought that Pant was in pain. "I genuinely thought that something had happened to him. After the accident he had, I thought he was just trying to… But actually, it was just to stop the game a little bit,' Rohit told Star Sports.
