Luke Bryan responds after someone threw a ball at his face while on stage

Miami Herald21 hours ago
While performing his final song of the night at the North Dakota State Fair on July 27, country music star Luke Bryan was struck in the face by an object.
While singing his hit song 'Country Girl (Shake It for Me),' someone in the crowd threw a ball toward the stage, striking Bryan in the face mid song. Bryan was visibly thrown off by the incident, taking a minute as the crowd continued to sing the song for him.
Bryan then puts a smile on his face as he continued on with the song.
'It's the last song of the night. It was a big ole fun party, and I think one person just took it too far,' he told Taste of Country Nights, addressing the incident for the first time. 'We see it. Every other entertainer out there is getting stuff — you get stuff thrown at ya. You hope that you can see who did it,' he added.
Despite quickly shaking off the incident, Bryan said his reaction may have been different if he would have seen who threw the ball.
'I mean, if I saw him throw it, I could have gone right to him,' he said. 'I probably would have jumped right off in there.'
Unfortunately, Bryan isn't the first performer to have been hit with an object while on stage. Kelsea Ballerini, Billie Eilish and Bebe Rexha are just a few other performers who have experienced situations like Bryan's.
Shortly after speaking out about the incident, Bryan also shared news about his future as a judge on American Idol.
'Last year was really really incredible with Carrie (Underwood) and Lionel (Richie) and Ryan (Seacrest),' Bryan told Taste of Country Nights, 'and the main thing is just, have fun with 'American Idol' and have fun with the kids (contestants).'
As for which of the judges will be returning for the next season of American Idol, Bryan says his 'prediction would be highly favorable' for Underwood to return next season.
But as for his own return, Bryan says, 'We'll see what happens,' noting that the show takes it 'year‑by‑year.'

'Too far': Luke Bryan reacts to being hit by object at North Dakota State Fair

Luke Bryan says the person who threw an object at him during a concert in North Dakota went "too far" and if he'd seen who had done it, he would have taken action. "I mean, if I saw him throw it, I could have gone right to him," Bryan told Taste of Country, a major publication that mainly covers country music. "I probably would have jumped right off in there." The country music star, 49, was singing "Country Girl" during the state fair in Minot on July 26 when he was hit in the face by a small, round object. Footage recorded by a fan shows Bryan stagger as he is momentarily shocked after being hit by the item, assumed to be a small ball. However, he maintained composure, only taking a brief moment to gather himself before finishing the song. "It's the last song of the night. It was a big ole fun party, and I think one person just took it too far," Bryan said. "At that point, if I'd even stopped it and pointed somebody out, it kills the vibe of the show. Bryan did not address the incident on stage or on social media. USA TODAY has reached out to Bryan's representatives for more information on the incident, but has not heard back. It is also not known if the singer sustained injuries. The singer noted such incidents are becoming common and "every other entertainer out there is getting stuff" thrown at them. Cardi B, Lady Gaga, Drake, Lil Nas X, Zach Bryan, and Pink are among the long list of artists who've had objects thrown at them during performances. "You hope that you can see who did it," Bryan remarked, adding that when audiences throw things at performers, they are being selfish and are ruining the show for everyone else. More entertainment news: Is 'The Gilded Age' Season 3 ending this week? See episode schedule The Ward County Sheriff's Department, meanwhile, in a media release on July 29, said while it was "aware" of the videos and social media posts "concerning an item thrown at Luke Bryan near the end of his concert," there is "currently no active criminal investigation for this incident." "We currently do not have a complaint filed by Luke Bryan or any authorized representative and there is currently no information on a possible subject that may have thrown the item," the news release said, adding the item thrown at Bryan appears to be a ball, "possibly being a foam type stress ball." The North Dakota State Fair management, meanwhile, did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for more information on the incident. The state fair, held annually in Minot, is "a cherished tradition" and was celebrating its 60th year. The fair, held July 18-26, included a range of activities, exhibits, and entertainment, with this year's edition welcoming more than 350,000 attendees, the most ever in the fair's history, according to the Minot Daily News.

Kelly Rowland And AJ McLean On Their Dream Bands

We all know the iconic Kelly Rowland from Destiny's Child and superstar AJ McLean from the Backstreet Boys. C'mon, they are pop ROYALTY. We recently had the chance to chat with them for Netflix's Building the Band. The duo were genuine, lovely, and charismatic. My inner child was SCREAMING WITH EXCITEMENT. Building the Band is a unique competition show that brings together talented singers from all over the world to build the perfect band. The singers are in complete control of their own destiny as they listen and chat with the other singers, seeking to form their very own bands in individual 'booths' without ever seeing each other. It's all about chemistry. Its kind of like Love is Blind meets American Idol meets The Voice. The individual singers are literally building their own bands based on only hearing each others' voices and having conversations in their own 'booths'. The goal? To build the next great music band! AJ McLean is the host of the Building the Band and Kelly Rowland is a guest judge. Nicole Scherzinger is a mentor/judge and the late Liam Payne is a guest judge. Naturally, we just HAD to ask AJ and Kelly who they would put in their dream bands. And no, they weren't allowed to include their current or past band members. AJ said, "I'm going to say Bruno Mars and Ryan Tedder...I feel like we all kind of grew up on R&B, soul, pop. I think it would be a solid pop, R&B group." For Kelly, her dream band would be, "Roberta Flack and Lauryn Hill." "Oh good one!" added AJ in the background. For the full interview clip and what genre of band they'd be, watch here: Building The Band is streaming now on Netflix. I, for one, am completely hooked.
