EXCLUSIVE Katy Perry is facing more than just heartbreak following her split from Orlando Bloom as she faces major High Court showdown in a matter of months

Katy Perry is facing more than just heartbreak following her split from Orlando Bloom - she's also now heading for a major High Court showdown in a matter of months. The pop star, 40, who has reportedly parted ways with her Hollywood actor fiancé, is preparing to defend herself in a high-profile legal battle - a trademark war with Sydney fashion designer Katie Perry - that's been raging for over a decade. MailOnline can reveal that the High Court of Australia - the top court in the country - has set a date for 9 September to hear the dispute over the use of the name 'Katie Perry' - a label registered by the Australian designer in 2008. Katie, who was born with the surname Perry but later used the surnames Howell and then Taylor, claims the singer's decision to put her name on clothing merchandise during her 2014 Australian tour infringed on her fashion label's trademark and damaged her business. 'My fashion label has been a dream of mine since I was eleven years old,' the designer said. 'And now that dream that I have worked so hard for, since 2006, has been taken away.' Pop star Katy - who was born Katheryn Hudson and adopted her mother's maiden name 'Perry' professionally - now faces huge upheaval in both her personal and professional lives. She is said to have split from Orlando, 48, with whom she has a daughter, Daisy Dove, four. Sources say the pair have 'grown apart' in recent months, with the Lord of the Rings actor notably absent from the singer's recent public appearances. The Dark Horse hitmaker thought the legal battle was behind her last year when an appeal court overturned a ruling that found her liable for trademark infringement. However, in April this year, the designer was granted a final opportunity to plead her case before Australia's highest court. Their war dates back to 2009, when lawyers for Katy proposed a coexistence agreement - an offer the designer rejected. The case escalated when she brought the matter to Federal Court in 2019. In 2023, a judge initially ruled in her favour, finding the singer had infringed on the trademark through the sale of Katy Perry-branded merchandise in Australia. But that decision was overturned in 2024, with the court siding with the singer on the grounds that she had already built substantial international recognition under the name before the fashion label was trademarked. Now, with the High Court agreeing to review the case, it's shaping up to be a definitive legal test - not just for the pop star, but for celebrity brand rights across the globe. In its deliberations, the court will need to assess what Katy was actually known for around 2008 - and whether her fame alone, without a specific reputation in fashion or clothing, was enough to outweigh an existing trademark. These kinds of disputes are not uncommon. Burger King, for example, operates as Hungry Jack's in Australia because the name 'Burger King' was already trademarked by another business when the fast food giant entered the market. Gregory Pieris, an intellectual property partner at K&L Gates in Melbourne, said there are 'many instances' in which someone in Australia has tried to register a name identical to a major international brand. 'What happens next with Katy Perry and Katie Perry will have a lasting impact on how similar cases play out,' he told The New York Times earlier this year. It comes after Katy was seen fighting back tears while on stage in Australia, as she paid tribute to her fans following her split. The singer was visibly emotional in footage from her last show Down Under, after it was revealed last week that she and Orlando had split after nine years together. Orlando has been embracing his newly single status with a week of partying across Europe, including a wild weekend at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez 's wedding, followed by a night out at a star-studded yacht bash in Rome. The actor appeared to allude to his split from Katy in a cryptic post to Instagram Stories on Monday. Orlando - who boasts 7M Instagram followers - also shared daily encouragement from Japanese Buddhist leader Daisaku Ikeda: 'The important thing is to take that first step. Bravely overcoming one small fear gives you the courage to take on the next' As Katy took to the stage for the final show of her Australian leg of her Lifetimes world tour, she fought back tears as the show came to a close. In footage posted on X, Katy made a heart with her fingers, before struggling to hold back tears as she spoke to the crowd at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. 'Thank you Australia for always being there for me,' she said. It came just hours after Orlando shared a series of cryptic Instagram posts, sharing a quote from Gautama Buddha to his seven million followers. The quote that Bloom reposted read: 'Each day is a new beginning. What we do today is what matters most.' He additionally shared a separate slide which had another quote which was titled 'Daily Encouragement by Daisaku Ikeda.' It continued, 'The important thing is to take that first step. Bravely overcoming one small fear gives you the courage to take on the next.' Last week, it was revealed that Orlando and Katy officially called it quits after dating for nine years. At the time, a source told Us Weekly: 'Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable,' while also adding that the separation has been 'not contentious' thus far. 'Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.' The Teenage Dream hitmaker - who is currently embarking on her Lifetimes Tour - was previously married to Russell Brand from 2010 until their divorce in 2012. The insider further added that the reported breakup had been 'a long time coming' and that their relationship had also been 'tense for months.' In the wake of the separation, Bloom whisked himself away to Venice to attend the star-studded nuptials between Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez this past weekend. The actor was spotted mingling with a number of celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and Sydney Sweeney. Orlando was also spotted living single life as he headed to another lavish party on Sunday. He danced the night away following his recent split from former fiancée Katy Perry as a guest on the swanky superyacht alongside 450 other VIPs including likes of Naomi Campbell, Kendall Jenner, Sofia Vergara and Heidi Klum. Fresh from three days partying at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's Venice wedding extravaganza, Orlando headed on board Ritz-Carlton's gleaming 794ft Luminara for its inaugural cruise from Rome. Bloom was also recently spotted cozying up to Leonardo DiCaprio's girlfriend, Vittoria Ceretti, during a water taxi ride as they headed to the airport following the Amazon founder's wedding this past weekend.

Paul Hogan, 85, has a spring in his step and looks healthier following a long trip Down Under after arriving from the US in a wheelchair

Paul Hogan was looking much healthier and happier as he left Sydney on Wednesday following a month-long holiday in Australia. The 85-year-old actor arrived at Sydney Airport for a departing flight and gave a cheerful thumbs up to onlookers as he made his way inside the terminal. The beloved silver screen icon was looking immensely well and appeared to have gained some healthy weight during his time Down Under. Paul wore an all-black ensemble including a dress shirt and matching jacket along with dark trousers. He carried a leather sports bag and completed his look with a pair of comfortable black sneakers. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Paul's face was a rosy, glowing hue and he wore a broad smile as he headed across the terminal to the departures area. It was a far cry from how Hogan had arrived in Sydney from the USA last month. At that time, he looked frail and exhausted, and was escorted from the terminal with the help of staff while sitting in a wheelchair. With multiple airport personnel assisting him, Hogan was ushered outside to waiting transport. Paul's return Down Under last month came amid reports he's moving home for good. Chatter has increased that the star is planning to relocate home to Australia permanently. Hogan has remained in the USA for decades, and has expressed that he stays stateside to care for his troubled son, Chance, 27. However, according to a new report, Hogan has finally decided to return home with his son's blessing, after seeing how positive a trip Down Under was for his dad earlier this year. 'Paul felt healthier than he had in months, and even Chance agreed that Australia had been good for them both,' an alleged source told New Idea. 'Chance has long known he's the reason why Paul remains in the States,' they continued. 'But this recent trip was a wake-up call. He can see how important it is for his dad to spend his twilight years on home turf. He now believes it will extend his life.' Chance has been living with his father in LA since his parents' divorce in 2014 after 24 years of marriage. In November, troubling photos emerged of Chance buying beer and shuffling around Venice Beach back alleys, near the home he shares with his father. The movie legend, who's originally from Sydney, left his home country behind following the success of the 1986 action-comedy film Crocodile Dundee. Hogan shares son Chance with second wife Linda Kozlowski, who was his Crocodile Dundee co-star. The actor made the move to settle with Linda in Los Angeles in the '90s. He also has several children with former wife Noelene Edwards - sons Brett, Clay, Scott and daughter Lauren. Hogan recently shared details on his relationship with his wayward son. The Crocodile Dundee star was chatting to Today show entertainment editor Richard Wilkins about a new cut of the iconic film. 'Hoges' admitted he would love to make a permanent move back Down Under, but he is staying stateside for his youngest son Chance. 'It's where I belong,' he replied when asked what it was like to be back in Australia to promote the film. The Nine host then pressed the star on if and when he would like to relocate to Australia, to which he replied: 'Oh, tomorrow.' However for the time being he needs to remain in Los Angeles. 'I have business reasons and my son to stay in the States for now,' he said. When asked for an update on the condition of his troubled son he said: 'Alright. Better than he gets. 'He gets a lot of tabloid stuff, but he's a terrible person because he knows they're watching him and he puts something on for them.' Chance sparked concern for his welfare back in January. He shared concerning videos to his Instagram Stories in which he was drinking wine and slurring his words as he sat at a table in public. 'This is my life. This is what it's been reduced to,' Chance slurred as he took sips from his wine glass. The camera he angled toward his face and his laptop wobbled as he struggled to hold it steady while he spoke. Hogan made a rare public appearance in January as he walked the red carpet at the premiere of the 'encore cut' of the 1986 cult classic Crocodile Dundee. Paul shot to fame in the '80s when he portrayed Mick 'Crocodile' Dundee in the classic outback adventure franchise which boasted three films. The star was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his performance. A new 'encore cut' was shown at the OpenAir Cinema in Sydney 's Royal Botanic Gardens, which saw two minutes of insensitive material cut from the original movie. The rehashed film was recently slammed by viewers who dubbed it 'bloody woke crap' after some of the more famous scenes were cut for a modern audience. However, Paul revealed during the premiere that he 'totally' agreed with the changes made in the encore cut, and insisted it 'wasn't about being woke'. He told The Courier Mail: 'I heard about it [the edit] years ago, it started, and it wasn't about being woke. 'They pointed out to me and said, "This guy is a folk hero around the world, and he shouldn't be groping people."' 'And I thought, "Yeah that's right, he shouldn't be." So take it out. I mean, he did it in all innocence, in naivety, but it's better without it.' Paul went on to say that the re-edited version of Crocodile Dundee 'went through the roof' when it landed a G rating in the UK and played for a pre-watershed audience.

Bob Hawke's wife Blanche d'Alpuget doesn't look like this anymore! The late Prime Minister's widow debuts makeover as she promotes her latest X-rated novel

The wife of former Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke looked unrecognisable as she promoted her new raunchy book in Sydney. Blanche d'Alpuget, who became a widow in 2019 after her husband passed away, featured in a video posted to Facebook last week by Abbey's Bookshop. In the clip, the 81-year-old wore a bold makeup look and heavy rouge on her cheeks as she encouraged fans to buy her new book The Bunny Club. She wrapped up warm in a neutral-toned puffer jacket as she visited the iconic Sydney bookstore, accessorising with a red beret, a patterned scarf and pearl earrings. Her hair, usually voluminous and curled, was a far cry from her signature do as it lay flat on her head in a short, straight bob. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'There's plenty of s-e-x in it,' she told her fans of her new novel. Adding her saucy take on the 'murder mystery' genre, she revealed that it's 'not clear if it's murder or a sex game gone wrong.' 'Blanche D'Alpuget delivers a gripping novel that unravels the shocking death of 'Australia's darling', the nation's most beloved and recognisable morning television presenter, found dead under mysterious and disturbing circumstances in her Southern Highlands home,' the caption read. In 2020, Blanche sensationally claimed in a bombshell biography that her late husband Bob had four affairs while he was prime minister and was addicted to sex. The revered politician had about four 'serious affairs' while national leader from 1983 until 1991, his widow told the writers of Bob Hawke: Demons and Destiny. Hawke was married to his wife Hazel from 1956 until their divorce in 1995; the affair with d'Alpuget began in 1976 and went on and off before starting again in 1988. She said Hawke's behaviour would be classed as a sex addiction. 'At the end of a day of intense activity, he somehow had to let off steam, as it were, and there's nothing like a roll in the hay or five to do that,' d'Alpuget said. The book claims Hawke's charm saw countless women mesmerised, with women throwing themselves at him in the 1960s and 1970s. If rejected, Hawke was known to be brutal. Former tourism minister John Brown also recalled how Hawke 'constantly' chased women - and wasn't remotely discreet, according to excepts from the book seen by The Australian. Ex-union secretary Bill Kelty, who worked with Hawke at the Australian Council of Trade Unions, said the politician would routinely sleep with women during drinking benders which lasted until the early hours of the morning. 'Bob would drink, he would f**k somebody, and he would gamble until 2.30am or 3.30am in the morning - and then when the ACTU executive started at 9am in the morning, he was the second one there and he was fine,' Kelty recalled. Hawke famously gave up alcohol throughout his leadership despite being a heavy drinker in his trade union days.
