Mercedes-Maybach's First Modern Two-Seater Exudes Elegance From Top Down
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources.
Convertibles are synonymous with sunny days spent cruising along coastlines. The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series is the epitome of that. Born of the Mercedes-Benz SL, the Maybach version replaces the sports car-like prowess of the coupé with stability and suppleness that is no less engaging.
It is the first two-seater in modern Maybach history, but the model has its roots in Mercedes cars from the early 1900s that were finished with coachbuilding techniques. Other current Maybachs include variants of the EQS Sedan, EQS SUV, S-Class Sedan and GLS.

Starting the SL 680 ignites a growl from the tailpipe that is easily forgotten once choosing the Maybach drive program and setting out on Ibiza's twisty roads. Quick turns are executed without hesitation, the reignition of the engine from a silent idle is smooth and the seats combine with suspension enhancements to keep passengers stable. It's a cruiser, not a competitor.
Its twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter engine delivers an ample 585 horsepower and 800 pound-feet of torque, and is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission that executes smooth shifts up and down. The extravagant SL rides on 21-inch forged wheels.
Upon startup, the driver's eyes are treated to a visual symphony of Maybach logos across the car's various screens. The quick touch of a physical button on the central display tilts the screen upright for better visibility during top-down driving.
Mercedes-Benz
It takes 15 seconds for the top to go up or down, and it can be done at up to 30 mph. Like the Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupé, the Maybach's cabin is quiet enough while the journey is underway to conduct a conversation without ever raising your voice.
The new Maybach turns heads thanks to its unique grille that delivers an aggressive elegance. It is surrounded by Maybach logo fascias. Brand-specific front and rear elements are completed by double scoop behind the seats that makes the look sporty yet sophisticated.
Mercedes-Benz
Monogram Series models are only available with a White Ambience or Red Ambience exterior paint color, and the Manufaktur brand's white leather interior.
Opting for the technically finished monogrammed hood (only available in black) adds another striking element. The hood's finish is created by layering a base coat of paint that is then sanded down with a Maybach pattern that is printed onto it, adding two coats of clear lacquer to complete the process.
Pricing is expected to start around $250,000. It is on sale now.

Max Verstappen Believes Red Bull Are 'Going Around In Circles' After Hungarian F1 Disappointment
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Red Bull driver Max Verstappen was left disappointed after failing to qualify in the top five for the Hungarian Grand Prix. The RB-21 looked poor throughout all three practice sessions. The team has managed to get the car operating at a high level seemingly out of nowhere, but in Hungary, there was no magic left. Verstappen himself has carried the car up the grid and outperformed expectations, but he also couldn't muster much in terms of pace. Photo byAfter showing dismal pace in the car, the four-time champion was happy just to make it to Q3. "Looking at the whole weekend, I think we are happy to be in Q3. Because I've been more outside of the top 10 than in," the Dutchman told the media. "It's been difficult this whole weekend. No grip, front and rear. It was the same in qualifying. For me, it was not really a shock. I just drove to what I already feel the whole weekend. "I think we still qualified very close to pole. Within a few hundredths. I think we were a lot more competitive back then. This weekend, already from lap one, it just felt off. "We threw the car around a lot. Nothing really gave a direction. That, of course, is the biggest problem. Normally, when you change a lot on the side of it, it will always give you positives or negatives. "Now, nothing works. It's like going around in circles. Nothing gives you any kind of idea of what to do." Red Bull and Verstappen are almost out of contention for a title this season, making the rest of the season about trying to spring surprise results. On pace and merit, Red Bull can't match the McLaren cars and are behind the Ferrari and Mercedes at most tracks. P8 is still a solid result for the team, especially considering Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda finished in P16. If the team can find performance for the race on Sunday, a climb up the grid could be on the cards. Hungarian Grand Prix Qualifying Results

Lewis Hamilton makes startling claim after F1 disaster
Lewis Hamilton's suggestion for Ferrari after yet another disastrous qualifying session at the Hungarian Grand Prix on Saturday had nothing to do with the car. 'We probably need to change driver,' Hamilton told reporters at the Hungaroring outside of Budapest. Hamilton, who is in his first season with the Scuderia after over a decade driving for Mercedes, has struggled for much of the season. On Saturday, he was knocked out in Q2 and .25 seconds slower than his teammate, Charles Leclerc, who not only easily made Q3 but scored a shock pole position over McLaren. The seven-time world champion called himself 'absolutely useless' and said he 'drove terribly.' 'The team has no problem,' he said. 'You've seen the car's on pole.' Beata Zawrzel/ZUMA Press Wire / Hamilton has been out-qualified by his teammate 12 times in 17 sessions this season with an average pace deficit of .146 seconds, per the BBC, continuing a trend from last season, when he struggled against George Russell. While Ferrari has generally put forth a disappointing season, Hamilton doesn't have a grand prix podium this season — he won the sprint race in China — while Leclerc has five, including last week at Spa-Francorchamps. Ferrari's strategy was of little help to Hamilton on Saturday, as it mismanaged Q1 and used up two new sets of soft tires, forcing him to do his first Q2 run on a used set. 'We have to do a better job to not be exposed in Q1 and Q2, and the fact we had to use extra sets in Q1, it was not a good start to the session, and then you have one set for Q2,' Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur told The Race. Nevertheless, it continues what has so far been a mess of a season for Hamilton, who has struggled to adapt to Ferrari and consistently been behind his teammate. AP The McLarens had dominated the field through all three practice sessions and the first two parts of qualifying, but a change in wind direction, humidity and temperature all played into Ferrari's hands. It's expected that Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, starting second and third, will quickly get past Leclerc in the race itself, but the potential for rain could shake things up further. 'In Q3 the conditions changed for everybody,' Leclerc told reporters. 'I basically just did a clean lap, which was a really good lap because those conditions were really difficult to get everything right, and I was really happy about the lap. 'It is probably the most surprising pole position I have ever done, so I'm very happy.'

Lando Norris Left Disappointed After Q3 Setback in Hungary
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. McLaren driver Lando Norris ended up qualifying in third for the Hungarian Grand Prix. Norris comes into Hungary trailing his teammate, Oscar Piastri, by 16 points in the Drivers' Championship. During Q2, the British driver set the fastest time of the entire qualifying session, but when it came down to delivering the time in Q3, Norris failed to perform. Not only did he struggle to get the top spot, but he starts behind Piastri as well, putting him on the backfoot for Sunday. Photo byFerrari's Charles Leclerc nabbed the top spot, but Norris wasn't demoralized after missing out on pole. "From how our form is, then of course [it's disappointing], but I think Charles did a good job on the last lap," Norris said. "He probably risked a little bit more in these conditions. The wind changed a lot and it really seemed to punish us in a bigger way it seems. "Not too many complaints. We thought we both did some good laps at the end, and we were just slow. So, nothing to complain of, but Charles did a good job. "It's a long lap with many corners. It's tricky, but in Q2, we showed how quick we can go, and our advantage. But as soon as the wind changed, everything went away and the last sector became even trickier again." Norris's season has been a rollercoaster ride, full of ups and downs, but he is still in the hunt for the ever-elusive championship. After the session, he was asked about his goals for the race, whether it was to get ahead of his championship rival or fight for the win, but Norris appears focused on getting the best possible result. "Both. I want to go forwards, I want to win. And if I can do that, then I'll get points. "I think it's going to be an exciting race. I would expect us to have a bit more pace than Charles, so I'm looking forward to it." Hungarian Grand Prix Qualifying Results
