Watch: 'Black Phone 2' to open in theaters Oct. 17
June 2 (UPI) -- Horror sequel Black Phone 2 is set to open in theaters Oct. 17.
Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, Madeline McGraw and Jeremy Davies are reprising their roles from the original 2022 blockbuster, while The Nun and The Grudge alum Demian Bichir is joining the ensemble for the follow-up.
Both Blumhouse films were written, produced and directed by Scott Derrickson, whose credits include The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Doctor Strange.
"Four years ago, 13-year-old Finn (Thames) killed his abductor and escaped, becoming the sole survivor of The Grabber (Hawke). But true evil transcends death... and the phone is ringing again," a synopsis said.
"As Finn, now 17, struggles with life after his captivity, the headstrong 15-year-old Gwen (McGraw) begins receiving calls in her dreams from the black phone and seeing disturbing visions of three boys being stalked at a winter camp known as Alpine Lake," the summary continued.
"Determined to solve the mystery and end the torment for both her and her brother, Gwen persuades Finn to visit the camp during a winter storm. There, she uncovers a shattering intersection between The Grabber and her own family's history. Together, she and Finn must confront a killer who has grown more powerful in death and more significant to them than either could imagine."
A 2-minute trailer released Sunday has already gotten 1.6 million views since it was posted on YouTube.

Jason Universe: It's Voorhees, not Bourne, and a romp through his many slasher incarnations. WWE Presents The Horrors of the Wyatt Sicks: This house is inspired by more recent horror-tinged persona wrestlers, the Wyatt Sicks. Admittedly, it's way past our WWE time; if you're like us, you're more familiar with Kane and the Undertaker as far as spooky wrestling lore goes. HHN Hollywood Original Houses Monstruos 3: The Ghosts of Latin America: The West Coast's HHN has had great houses inspired by Latin folklore with frightful interpretations of legends and cryptids such as La Llorona. We're definitely looking forward to this one. Scarecrow Music by Slash: This festive house makes a comeback reimagined with music by Guns n' Roses guitarist Slash. HHN Orlando Original Houses Hatchet and Chains: Demon Bounty Hunters: Promising some Old West horror fun, this house will feature red-hot lava demons versus mystical weapon slingers. Dolls: Let's Play Dead: Not for those with fear of dolls, as you'll be chased by freaky toy creations from one twisted little girl's mind. Deion Sanders had a clever way of dodging a question about rumors that he and actress Karrueche Tran are dating after she supported the Colorado head football coach during his bladder removal surgery in May. During an appearance on the 'Say What Needs To Be Said' podcast, former NFLer Asante Samuel asked Sanders about his relation to Tran, and mentioned how she was seen crying at the Hall of Famer's bedside in a YouTube video shared by his son Deion Jr. 'Don't kill the messenger,' Samuel said at the end of the interview. 'Everyone seen Karrueche Tran by your side during your hospital visit. Everyone want to know what that friendship is.' That's when Sanders pretended the connection was cutting out on the call. A network that constantly flooded viewers with some of the best highlights from the day before has turned into lots of talking-head shows like 'First Take,' 'Get Up,' 'NFL Live' and 'The Pat McAfee Show.' 'It's all a sociological study. They think that sports is better reality TV, I'm like, 'it's the same thing.'
