Brad Pitt Says Tom Cruise Pulled Out Of ‘Ford v Ferrari' After He Realized He 'Would Not Be Driving Much In The Movie'
Speaking to the United Arab Emirates-based publication The National News, Pitt reflected on the racing pic that never came to pass, which initially featured F1 and Top Gun: Maverick helmer Joseph Kosinski as director. The eventual 2019 biographical sports/action film featured Christian Bale as fearless racer Ken Miles, Matt Damon as automotive designer Carroll Shelby and James Mangold as filmmaker.

'Tom and I, for a while there, were on Ford v Ferrari with Joe [to direct],' the Interview with the Vampire actor said. 'This was about 10 years before the guys who actually made it — and made it a great movie.'
The two-time Oscar winner continued, 'What it came down to is that we both wanted to drive, and he wanted to play Shelby, and I wanted to play Ken Miles. And when Tom realized that Carroll Shelby would not be driving much in the movie, it didn't come through.'
He concluded, 'So I'm not sure how that's going to work [in a potential F1 The Movie sequel], but we'll give it a go. I'd love to.'
Previously, Kosinski shared in a sprawling GQ feature about the making of F1 that the reason his version of Ford v Ferrari never came to fruition was because of studio objections to the budget.
A box office hit following its release June 27, the Apple Original Films blockbuster is already getting chatter about potential sequel treatment, with Kosinski telling GQ UK that it's 'up for the audience to decide' and 'not my decision.'
Made in partnership with Formula 1 and its 10 teams, the drama stars Pitt as has-been racer Sonny Hayes, who aims to stage a comeback after his promising career was derailed by a track accident, finding that his biggest competition may be his young, irreverent upstart teammate Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris). Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia and Samson Kayo also star. (Simone Ashley's role was cut down in the film.)
Elsewhere in his interview with The National News, Pitt said he would be open to returning to the track in a sequel.
'I would want to drive again, selfishly speaking,' he said. 'F1 is still the focus. It needs to be on Joshua Pierce – Damson Idris's character – and the rest of the team fighting for a championship. Where does Sonny fit in? I'm not sure. Sonny's probably out on the Bonneville Salt Flats, setting speed records or something like that. So I'm not sure beyond that, just yet. Right now, I'm just pleased as punch that something like this can bring people together. That's the power of this kind of cinema.'
With that, Pitt added that should a followup come to pass, he'd be open to collaborating with Cruise, perhaps even a tie-in with the in-the-works Days of Thunder sequel, which the latter has said he is actively 'working on.'
Speaking to what it would take to reteam, Pitt joked last month, 'Well, I'm not gonna hang my ass off airplanes and sh– like that, so when he does something again that's on the ground.'

Freight My Car Reports Seasonal Surge in UAE to Europe Vehicle Air Freight
Freight My Car confirms a notable increase in vehicle air freight bookings from Dubai to Europe during the summer season, driven by high-net-worth travelers opting for personal vehicle transport during extended overseas stays. Video: Freight My Car has reported a seasonal rise in demand for vehicle air freight services from the United Arab Emirates to various European destinations. The trend has been observed between May and August every year and reflects a growing preference among residents to travel with their personal vehicles during long-stay summer visits abroad. The Dubai-based logistics company confirmed a significant increase in summer air freight bookings. High-value vehicles, including luxury SUVs and performance cars, are being shipped via scheduled cargo flights departing from Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport. Freight My Car offers complete vehicle transport support, including pickup, assistance with Carnet de Passage issuance, RTA documentation, pre-departure inspection, insurance coverage in Europe, customs clearance on arrival and delivery until doorstep. Transit times to Europe typically range from 48 hours to 5 days depending on the destination, carrier, schedules and space availability. The company maintains logistics partnerships in Europe to support smooth vehicle processing and final delivery. 'Clients value the familiarity and reliability of using their own vehicles abroad, especially when staying for extended periods,' said Sachin Manwani, CEO of Freight My Car. 'The growth reflects a broader shift in travel preferences among UAE residents who prioritize control and comfort during their seasonal relocations.' The majority of vehicle shipments are destined for France, Switzerland, Germany, and Spain, where many clients either own property or plan extended stays. These preferences are contributing to the demand for secure, high-speed international auto transport services. Once delivered, many travelers use their vehicles to explore Europe's scenic routes—from the coastal highways of the Cote d'Azur to the mountain passes of the Swiss Alps—taking advantage of the cooler summer weather and the comfort of familiar handling. Vehicles transported through Freight My Car arrive pre-cleared for road use, allowing immediate mobility upon arrival. Vehicle air freight is preferred among clients seeking reduced handling times and more control over arrival schedules compared to maritime alternatives. Air transport minimizes exposure to environmental elements and allows vehicles to reach destination airports in a matter of days, rather than weeks. This model is particularly useful for travelers attending seasonal events, relocating temporarily, or planning multi-country road journeys. Freight My Car has reported that clients increasingly request enclosed ground delivery in Europe to protect vehicle condition during final-mile handling. These specialized services are available through pre-booked carriers aligned with the company's European logistics network. To manage increased demand, Freight My Car has scaled operational capacity during peak summer months and is working with airline partners to secure additional flight slots for vehicle cargo. The company is also exploring options for additional European destination hubs, including Italy and Morocco, to meet anticipated client interest in new travel corridors. A notable trend observed in recent months includes returning customers scheduling multiple shipments annually—sending their vehicles to Europe in summer and back to the UAE in autumn. This indicates a pattern of seasonal mobility becoming a recurring routine among a segment of the UAE's high-net-worth population. The service is also seeing uptake from business travelers who maintain residences across both regions. Shipping a personal vehicle allows continuity in daily routines, particularly for clients with specific driving preferences, custom vehicle modifications, or high-dependency travel habits. Freight My Car's procedures are structured to ensure that each vehicle shipment is traceable, secure, and in compliance with regulatory standards. The company adheres to UAE export laws and destination country import rules, including emission compliance, roadworthiness, and registration protocols where applicable. The company continues to focus on strict logistics compliance and high-security handling of all vehicle shipments. Lewis Hamilton gets commentator a part in F1 movie
Racing commentator David Croft has credited racer Lewis Hamilton for getting him a part in the film F1. Speaking ahead of the British Grand Prix in Silverstone the broadcaster explained how Hamilton, who like him is from Stevenage, Hertfordshire, insisted he was part of the film. Filmmakers had wanted to use actors to deliver commentary during racing sequences, but Hamilton had pushed to use Croft and Martin Brundle instead. He said: "It was Lewis Hamilton who came up with the idea and I've said to him he could be my agent anytime he wants." At the premiere in New York in June, Croft introduced himself to Brad Pitt - the film's star - who recognised him and told him the two commentators "legitimise everything we do in this movie". At the London premiere on 23 June Croft said he scored "dad points" by introducing his son to the movie star, who did not believe the two knew one another. He laughed: "I said, 'James, this is Brad. Brad, this is James,' and [Pitt] went: "Ah, Crofty Junior, so good to see you, man." During the New York premiere Croft and Hamilton had a moment to discuss their shared hometown of Stevenage. Despite meeting many times, and the broadcaster commentating on Hamilton's races since he won his first F1 title in 2008, the two had never discussed that they were from the same place. He recalled: "Martin and Lewis and I were having a chat and I went... we are so far from Stevenage now. "He laughed and chuckled, I said 'did you ever think one day we'd be in Time Square having shut New York down to do a film premiere?' He went: 'No, it's just crazy.'"
