On July 4, Union Minister of Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju announced that the Union Government will begin accepting applications for the Haj pilgrimage in 2026 within a week, urging pilgrims to ensure timely submissions of documents to avoid future complications ahead of the pilgrimage.
Speaking to reporters, Rijiju outlined the preparations and new measures to facilitate a smooth pilgrimage process, emphasising digitalisation and adherence to deadlines set by the Saudi Arabian government.
'Within a week, we will start accepting Haj applications for 2026... I request people to fill out their applications on time so they do not face any problems in the future. The Saudi Arabian government has set many strict deadlines,' Rijiju stated.
In Islam, every individual must fulfil five duties (pillars), of which Hajj is one. This year, the Hajj was performed between June 4 and June 9 in Saudi Arabia. The first batch of annual Hajj pilgrims from India started in early May. According to Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, a total of 1,22,518 hajj pilgrims undertook the sacred journey, with the first flights departing from Lucknow and Hyderabad. (ANI)

Speaking to mediapersons here, the CM said, 'People construct their homes through years of savings and when such homes collapse, it is not just a financial loss but an emotional and social setback. Residents expressed serious concerns about the adverse impact of hill cutting activities being carried out by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which they alleged have led to increased vulnerability of properties and risk to their life and safety, according to the official statement on the CM's interactions with people in the area. According to the government, locals told Sukhu that 'NHAI officers do not listen to them.' They said that they have suffered significant property losses, and urged the government to take urgent steps. Taking serious note of their concerns, Sukhu directed the concerned departments to take immediate remedial measures and ensure public safety on priority. He also assured the affected families of all possible support from the state government. The Himachal government will provide Rs 10,000 per month as rental assistance to families residing in unsafe structures to rent accommodation. Additionally, a special relief package will be given to those who have suffered damages during the disaster, the statement said. He also emphasised the need for NHAI to adopt modern technologies and explore tunnel-based alternatives in hilly terrain to prevent such disasters. The Shimla administration has constituted a 12-member committee under the chairpersonship of the additional district magistrate (Protocol) to identify vulnerable points along the four-lane stretch and suggest corrective measures. Separately, a five-member committee led by the additional district magistrate (Law & Order) has been tasked with investigating the recent building collapse in Bhatakuffar. Himachal Pradesh is also dealing with the aftermath of nearly 30 hours of rain on June 30 and July 1 that saw 10 incidents of cloudbursts, flash floods and landslides in the area, causing large-scale damage to properties. CM Revanth seeks Centre's push for Zaheerabad, Warangal projects
New Delhi/Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has urged Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal to extend central support to take up development of Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City apart from sanctioning funds for the Warangal airport and giving approval to the Hyderabad–Bengaluru Defence Corridor. During their meeting in Delhi on Tuesday, the Chief Minister exhorted Goyal to immediately release Rs.596.61 crore for the Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City project that has been approved by the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT). Goyal was specifically urged to provide financial assistance to develop infrastructure, including water supply, power supply network and other facilities that are integral to the smart city project. Stressing on the importance of the Hyderabad–Warangal Corridor. Reddy also sought immediate sanction of funds to ensure a speedy completion of the Warangal airport. The Chief Minister also stated that the feasibility study of the Hyderabad-Vijayawada Industrial Corridor was under progress. As the state government has already set up a dedicated defence and aerospace park with state-of-the-art infrastructure in Adibatla, the Chief Minister appealed to the union minister to give his nod for the Hyderabad-Bangalore Industrial Corridor as an Aero-Defence corridor. He also spoke about the state government's proposal for developing 100 plug-and-play industrial parks that are ready for investments. He sought the Centre's approval for the new industrial development project. In a separate meeting with Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers JB Nadda, Revanth Reddy to his notice that only 3.07 lakh metric tonnes of urea was supplied between April and June as against the state's requirement of five lakh metric tonnes during the Kharif season. Given that farming activity has been in full swing and projects receiving abundant inflows, Revanth Reddy appealed to Nadda to ensure that there would be no disruption in the supply of urea during the season. The Chief Minister urged Nadda to enhance the quota of domestically produced urea for Telangana and increase the number of rakes for urea supply as the railways was reluctant to consider the demand for more rakes.
