PETALING JAYA - A man is believed to have been shot dead outside a motorcycle shop in Batu 5, Jalan Meru in Klang, Malaysia on the afternoon June 20.
According to a Facebook post by a user, at least six gunshots were reportedly fired at the victim, who was inside a pickup truck parked in front of the premises.
'People of Meru, be careful. A shooting has just happened here,' the user wrote in the post, which quickly gained traction online, Sinar Harian reported.
Several other Facebook users also shared their experiences of either witnessing or hearing the incident.
One user, Ms Anisha Syam, said she heard the gunshots clearly and described the sound as frightening.
'It was really terrifying to hear those gunshots,' she said.
Another user, Mr Badrul Hisham Mohd Nor, said he had just left the area shortly before the incident occurred.
'I had just finished changing my motorcycle tyre at the shop. I was there a bit earlier before it happened,' he said.
Efforts to get police confirmation on the incident are ongoing.
Two open shooting cases occurred within four days in Brickfields and Cheras recently.
Based on police's initial investigations, the shooting incident involving two men in front of a shopping complex in Jalan Loke Yew, Cheras, at midnight on June 17, is believed to have stemmed from smuggling activities in Sibu, Sarawak.
The incident that occurred in Brickfields on June 13 is believed to have resulted from a conflict in criminal activities occurring in Selangor. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK

ICC says new cybersecurity incident has been contained

FILE PHOTO: The International Criminal Court building is seen in The Hague, Netherlands, January 16, 2019. REUTERS/Piroschka van de Wouw/File Photo THE HAGUE - The International Criminal Court (ICC) said on Monday it had detected a "new, sophisticated and targeted" cybersecurity incident late last week, adding it has now been contained. The incident was the second of its type against the ICC in recent years, it said in a statement. In 2023, the ICC announced it had been hacked and the court struggled with the aftermath for weeks as it was disconnected from most systems that can access the internet. Details of that attack and who was behind it were never made public. The court, which has been under increased scrutiny since it issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last November for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity during the Gaza conflict, did not give any more details on the latest cybersecurity incident. The ICC also issued an arrest warrant for President Vladimir Putin on suspicion of deporting children from Ukraine. Neither Russia nor Israel is a member of the court and both deny the accusations and reject ICC jurisdiction. REUTERS Join ST's Telegram channel and get the latest breaking news delivered to you.

Death toll from Algeria stadium fall rises to four

The number of spectators killed after falling from an upper stand of a stadium following MC Alger's victory in the Algerian top-flight league has risen to four, the champions said on Monday. The fourth fan has died in hospital, where he was being treated for injuries sustained in the incident on June 21, the Algerian club posted on Facebook. One spectator had died at the scene in the 5 July Stadium, in the capital Algiers, local authorities said, and the Algerian health ministry said two more had died from their injuries the following day. Local media reports said the spectators fell after a fence in the upper stand broke, with El Heddaf TV's Facebook page posting a video showing part of a railing collapsing onto the lower tier. REUTERS/Juan Medina Spanish judge orders PM's ex-ally to be remanded in custody in graft probe MADRID - A Spanish Supreme Court's investigating judge ordered ex-senior ruling Socialist Party official Santos Cerdan to be remanded in custody on Monday in a corruption inquiry that could destabilise Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez's fragile minority government. The court denied bail for Cerdan, but did not immediately release any additional information. The Cerdan case was the latest and most serious in a series of scandals that have left Sanchez having to apologise and fend off calls from opponents for a snap election. Judge Leopoldo Puente is investigating allegations against Cerdan, former Transport Minister Jose Luis Abalos and the latter's aide Koldo Garcia that they received kickbacks for awarding public works contracts. Cerdan, who resigned earlier this month from his position as the Socialist Party's third-ranking official and lawmaker, denies the allegations. Both Abalos and Garcia say they are innocent. His resignation followed Puente's statement citing "strong evidence" of Cerdan's possible involvement in the "improper awarding" of contracts. Sanchez on Monday defended his Socialist Party's handling of the corruption allegations against Cerdan, saying that it had acted decisively by asking him to resign. "Justice must determine the responsibilities that Santos Cerdan may have," Sanchez told reporters during a summit in Seville.
