Pro-Palestinian protester takes issue with Israeli team at Tour de France
A man protesting the participation of an Israel-based team in the Tour de France ran onto the course as the leaders raced for the finish line on Wednesday. Norwegian rider Jonas Abrahamsen won the 11th stage in a photo finish just ahead of Swiss rider Mauro Schmid, but their final sprint was accompanied by a man running alongside who wore a T-shirt saying, 'Israel out of the Tour,' and who waved a keffiyeh, the black-and-white checkered headscarf that has become a potent symbol of the Palestinian cause. A security guard ran out to apprehend the man. The Israel-Premier Tech team is racing at this year's Tour with eight team members from other countries. The team acquired the right to enter the Tour de France in 2020 when Israel Start-Up National took over Katusha's WorldTour license and has since claimed three stage victories, though none yet in this year's race. Team members previously faced protests because of the team's association with Israel, which has killed more than 58,000 Palestinians in 21 months of war, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. The war was sparked by the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel that killed some 1,200 people on Oct. 7, 2023. Israel and Hamas are considering a U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal that could pause the war. ___

Jude Bellingham could be out until October after shoulder surgery
Jude Bellingham is expected to be sidelined until October after undergoing shoulder surgery. The Real Madrid and England midfielder had the surgery after his club's elimination from the this summer's Club World Cup to treat a recurring dislocation of his left shoulder. The surgery is set to sideline him until October, but the Spanish club did not confirm any length of absence, saying only that Bellingham would now 'begin a period of rehabilitation prior to his return to recovery work'. Real Madrid said the surgery had been performed by Drs Manuel Leyes and Andrew Wallace, under the supervision of the club's Medical Services. Bellingham is now set to miss the start of Real's La Liga campaign and also England's World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia in September. The 22-year-old and his Real team-mates came home empty-handed from the Club World Cup to round off a disappointing campaign where they finished runners-up to Barcelona in the league and fell to Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals. Carlo Ancelotti, who stood down as Real coach at the end of the regular season but before the Club World Cup, highlighted the issue with Bellingham's shoulder back in December 2023 and said at the time: 'The shoulder is very particular. 'If it happens again or keeps happening, maybe (he will need surgery), but we will see.'

I've just had some breaking Conor Coady news confirmed and it's exactly what Rangers want to hear
Our man Keith Jackson kicked off tonight's Hotline Live with some breaking news about Conor Coady Leicester have identified their replacement for Conor Coady – and he could even be in place at Ibrox to be registered before tomorrow night's Champions League deadline. That's the breaking news that kicked off tonight's Hotline Live, and it will be music to Rangers ' ears as they look to get a deal for the defender over the line. Russell Martin has been eyeing a move for experienced defender Coady since the window opened but it's been held up at Leicester's end due to a change in manager. But Marti Cifuentes is in place now and, as he flies out for pre-season with his new squad, there was no sign of Coady in footage or images from training or from the airport. tonight's Hotline Live, it's all pointing in one direction. "Before we came on tonight, it was confirmed to me that Leicester have been in talks with another centre-half who they see as a ready-made replacement for Coady. "An English guy with bags of Premier League experience, who they feel fits the profile that well be left if Conor Coady was to leave. These talks have been ongoing for a couple of days and, I believe, at quite an advanced stage. "So then you tie into that the new boss at Leicester, Marti Cifuentes, has started work today – the club released a bit of footage from the training ground and there was no sign of Coady. "Then minutes before we came on, footage emerged from Midlands airport of the Leicester players getting on board a chartered flight. And without being definitive on it, we couldn't see any sign that Coady was among the players making the trip. "From a Rangers perspective, given the news we broke 24 hours ago – we did say that we would be in a position to give them more of a clue about the situation tonight. And at this time tonight, I think we've established that Rangers have got their eyes on a replacement, and there is no sign of Conor Coady is on Leicester's flight to Austria. "The significance of all of that is Rangers need to register their squad for Panathinaikos tomorrow night. Two players can be added to that 24 hours ahead of kickoff, so there is some leeway to make some late changes to that. "But in an ideal world for Russell Martin, and for Conor Coady, they'd like to be in a position to have his name on that list when it's registered with UEFA tomorrow night. It looks like it's heading in that direction, but it's a story we're very much working on. My phone's still going – we might even get some sort of confirmation during the show..."
