Texas A&M women's team closes track season strong with podium finish at NCAA Outdoors
The Texas A&M women's track and field team has consistently ranked in the top five all season long and, among elite programs, finished third at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Overtaking the Georgia Bulldogs, who ran away with the point total, was always going to be a tall order, especially with the next closest team trailing by 26 points. That left a fierce battle for second place, where the USC Trojans edged out the Aggies, 47 to 43, thanks to standout individual performances and a season-best showing in the 4x100m relay.
Junior triple jumper Winny Bii became the Aggies' lone NCAA Champion of the day. Her opening jump of 13.96m (45-9.75) held up throughout the competition, earning Texas A&M its first-ever NCAA title in the women's triple jump. Debora Cherono, Jasmine Montgomery, Jaiya Covington, and Sofia Yakushina all scored key points, helping solidify the team's top-five finish.
Texas A&M also notched two top-four relay results, second in the 4x100m (42.89) and fourth in the 4x400m (3:27.11), both marking season-best times. While the ultimate goal remains a national title, finishing third in the season was a strong and promising result.

Cowboys to work out La'el Collins for possible return to team amid rash of OL injuries
Reinforcements may be coming to the Cowboys offensive line, and this one is a very familiar face. La'el Collins, who started 71 games for the team from 2015 through 2021, will workout for Dallas coaches in Oxnard on Friday as the team looks to add depth following a rash of training camp injuries along the front five. Collins, about to turn 33 in July, has reportedly spent the offseason training with Duke Manyweather and OL Masterminds in case there would be an opportunity somewhere for him in 2025. That opportunity could come from the team that signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2015. Once assumed to be a surefire top-10 draft pick coming out of LSU, Collins saw his stock plummet when it was revealed that state police wanted to talk to him about the shooting death of a pregnant woman with whom he had had a relationship. Though Collins was never considered a suspect, he was passed over by every team in every round of the draft. Jerry Jones then famously invited him to a dinner with several Cowboys notables and signed him to the team shortly thereafter. He was starting by Week 7. Collins went on to make 77 game appearances (playoffs included) over six seasons before being released in 2022 with three years left on his contract. The 6-foot-4-inch 315-pounder then signed with the Bengals and played in 15 games before suffering an ACL tear. Cincinnati released him early in the 2023 season. The Cowboys brought Collins back to their practice squad in January 2024 as an insurance piece, but he didn't see the field before the team was eliminated in a wild-card loss to the Packers. Collins signed with Buffalo last April but was released during final roster cuts. He sat out the 2024 season. Though it's been nearly 1,000 days since Collins last played in an NFL game, the Cowboys are not in a position to be terribly choosy about where experienced O-line help is coming from. Last year's first-round draft pick Tyler Guyton will miss four to six weeks with a bone fracture and sprained knee suffered in practice earlier this week. That news came on top of an ankle concern for starter Terence Steele and a neck injury to Rob Jones. Also this week, Hakeem Adeniji went out with a concussion, and Matt Waletzko was announced to have an ankle issue of his own. And then on Thursday, former first-rounder and two-time Pro Bowler Tyler Smith left practice with knee soreness. Collins's ability to play either guard or tackle- as well as his familiarity with many of the Cowboys players, especially close friend Dak Prescott- could help him acclimate quickly if Friday's scheduled workout goes well. His presence at the team's training camp facility has already made waves. "I saw [him] back there. It was a very joyous reunion. LC is a guy that I love,' Prescott told reporters Thursday. 'Hopefully, he kills this workout.' Despite his lengthy layoff, Collins is confident. "I'm going to protect your daddy," he reportedly told Prescott's daughters. WATCH: Ohio State football head coach Ryan Day talks opening day of fall camp
In case you've been significantly out of the loop as an Ohio State football fan, then you know that Thursday was the first day of fall camp for the Buckeyes. There was plenty to see on the field, and we always get to hear from head coach Ryan Day after the first day, and that's exactly what we got after practice. There's still a lot of key battles for some key starting and depth positions, a quarterback competition still ongoing, and some new coaches in meaningful positions that have to all come together to make this team become what it can be. All of that, and more, was reflected and opined upon by Day, and we have the entire press conference for you thanks to the WBNS 10TV YouTube channel. In it, you'll hear Day talk about the attitude of this team, how he thought the quarterbacks did in practice numero uno, staying away from injuries, and more. Indiana Fever forward poised to re-sign after seven-day contract ends
With the conclusion of her seven-day injury hardship waiver with the Indiana Fever occurring on August 1, forward Chloe Bibby appears poised to re-sign with the team for the remainder of the 2025 WNBA season as a scoring depth option. Bibby started the season on the Golden State Valkyries, averaging 6.4 points on 40.7% shooting from the field, 42.1% from 3-point territory, and 100% from the free-throw line through five games played for the newest WNBA expansion franchise. After being waived (a second time) by the Valkyries on June 30, with the team hampered with injuries at the time, the former Maryland Terrapin signed a seven-day contract with Indiana as a scoring depth option to make up for the lost offensive potential of injured guard Caitlin Clark. With Bibby traveling alongside the team to Dallas, Texas, for their August 1 meeting with the Dallas Wings at the American Airlines Center, the likelihood that she will be staying with Indiana for the remainder of the 2025 season seems all but certain. In her two games played with the fever, Bibby is averaging 9.0 points on 44.4% from the field, 50.0% from beyond the arc, and 85.7% from the charity stripe through 12 minutes of action across both games. With the sudden offensive emergence of guard Aari McDonald, Indiana hopes that Bibby can offer a similar impact off the bench as the Fever continue their second-half playoff push while Clark continues to rehab her injured right groin. The Fever and Wings will clash Friday, August 1, at American Airlines Center at 7:30 p.m. CT, with the game being broadcast on ION.
