The Georgia Bulldogs built incredible recruiting momentum this week. On3's Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong anticipate that continuing this weekend.

On3's Keegan Pope reported this week four-star defensive lineman James Johnson will announce his final college decision Saturday. Both Simmons and Wiltfong projected Johnson to choose the Bulldogs.
'Georgia was the clear favorite at one time for James Johnson, and with Florida, Miami and Texas pushing for the elite defensive lineman in south Florida, we still hear good things around the Bulldogs,' Simmons wrote. 'Johnson is set to announce his decision on June 30 and we expect schools to battle up until the time he announces.'
Two SEC foes -- the Florida Gators and Texas Longhorns -- and a familiar Georgia recruiting foe -- the Miami Hurricanes -- are the other schools contending for Johnson.

Of those four schools, Johnson visited Georgia first during the weekend of May 30. The defensive lineman then visited Miami, Florida and Texas during June.

The On3 rankings have Johnson at the top of their defensive line ratings for the 2026 class. Based on the 247Sports Composite rankings, Johnson is the No. 8 defensive lineman and 10th-ranked Florida prospect for 2026.
The composite rankings also have Johnson at No. 69 overall in the class.
If the Bulldogs receive a pledge from Johnson on Saturday, it would cap off quite the week for the Bulldogs on the recruiting trail.
Since Sunday, Georgia has landed commitments from four four-star prospects -- linebacker Shadarius Toodle, edge rusher Khamari Brooks, running back Jae Lamar, and wide receiver Craig Dandridge. On Tuesday, three-star defensive lineman Corey Howard also committed to Georgia.

Based on the 247Sports rankings, the Bulldogs have the fourth-ranked 2026 recruiting class.

Huskers land prediction for top player in the state of Nebraska

Class of 2027 four-star safety Tory Pittman has been projected to the Nebraska football program by Rivals' Greg Smith. Smith put the prediction in on Friday. Pittman is one of the most coveted prospects for the 2027 class. On top of this, he is the top prospect in the state of Nebraska and the second safety in the 2027 class overall, per the 247Sports Composite rankings. Advertisement Pittman has visited the Nebraska campus several times. He has taken one visit this calendar year, doing so on March 27. He has visited the Huskers six other times, with his first visit coming on April 9, 2024. The safety is coming off a strong 2024 season that saw him record 54 tackles, a sack, and three interceptions, per statistics from The safety will be a challenge to keep in-state, as he has tremendous talent and attention at a national level. Smith's prediction is certainly encouraging, but there is still a long way to go between then and signing day. Rivals Five-Star: Breaking down the tight ends

INDIANAPOLIS – The stars came out for the 2025 Rivals Five-Star event at the Indianapolis Colts' facility this week. Here we break down the top tight ends from the event. The elite tight end prospect was warming up and went through the majority of position drills when he pulled his hamstring and was unable to work out the rest of the day. Advertisement Prothro was visibly disappointed but his physical development, which was the biggest question mark surrounding his ranking, was obvious. He weighed in at 216 pounds and, despite the pulled hamstring, even participated in the bench press competition where he recorded nine reps of 225 pounds. Georgia is trending in Prothro's recruitment but Auburn and a handful of other teams are in pursuit. Georgia poised to sign an elite tight end class The caliber of defender Georgia commit Lincoln Keyes faced at Five-Star was new to him and it was good for the national analyst team to evaluate him under these conditions. The Michigan native is a very impressive prospect with great hands and the ability to make tough catches over the middle and down the field. He'll be a very reliable target for Georgia quarterbacks when he gets on the field in Athens but that could take some time. Keyes has a well-rounded game but he could find it difficult to consistently create separation from defenders when he reaches the next level. Advertisement That being said, the style Keyes plays with would complement Prothro's skillset beautifully, if both do end up signing with Georgia. The two highly ranked tight ends were frequently seen chatting and playing catch during the down time on Tuesday. That relationship appears to be fairly strong and could pay dividends for the Dawgs down the road. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH GEORGIA FANS AT Holden Niemi makes strong impression Holden Niemi was a late addition to the Rivals Five-Star roster and took advantage of the opportunity to make a strong impression. The 2027 prospect out of Illinois is fairly well-developed from a physical perspective and showed strong athletic traits throughout the workout on Tuesday. Advertisement Adjusting to the variety of quarterbacks seemed to be a bit challenging for him at times, which resulted in passes falling incomplete. Niemi is only heading into his junior season so there is plenty of time for him to make adjustments to his game before he reaches the next level. He is, however, on the smaller side when it comes to the trends that have emerged in the NFL Draft for tight ends so keeping an eye on his physical growth will be a focus going forward. Sneed's impact shouldn't be overlooked Tennessee tight end commit Carson Sneed posted impressive measurements during registration on Monday and he had plenty of bright spots on the field Tuesday. At 6-foot-6, 246 pounds, Sneed is fairly lean but plays with a great deal of strength, which showed when linebackers and defensive backs bounced off of him as they tried to disrupt his routes. Advertisement He isn't the most natural receiver but there is plenty of potential to get excited about, which is surely part of the reason why Florida, North Carolina and others are trying to pry him away from the Volunteers. The Gators appear to be making some headway but it's hard to count out North Carolina at this point in the recruiting process. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH TENNESSEE FANS AT

Florida Panthers' Bill Zito misses out on NHL GM of the Year Award — again

Bill Zito is the architect that has built the Florida Panthers into back-to-back Stanley Cup champions and has the team in position to continue contending for years to come. But that, apparently, still hasn't been enough for him to be named the league's top general manager. Zito finished second in voting for the Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award, which was announced Friday on Day 1 of the NHL Draft in Los Angeles. The Dallas Stars' Jim Nill won the award for a third consecutive season. Zito, who has been a finalist each of the past three years and four times total in his five seasons with the Panthers, received 12 first-place votes and was on 30 of 42 total ballots. Voting was done by NHL general managers along with a panel of league executives, print and broadcast media after the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Under Zito's direction, the Panthers have turned into consistent winners and are showing no signs of stopping with the majority of the team's core inked to long-term deals. After the team agreed to terms Friday with Sam Bennett on an eight-year deal, Florida now has eight key players under contract through at least the 2029-30 season. Three of those players — forwards Sam Reinhart, Anton Lundell and Carter Verhaeghe — signed their extensions either last offseason or at the start of the season. Panthers coach Paul Maurice, who was in the final year of his deal, also signed a five-year contract extension during season. This year, Zito also had to restock his roster after losing several key players — most notably defensemen Brandon Montour and Oliver Ekman-Larsson plus depth forwards Kevin Stenlund, Ryan Lomberg, Nick Cousins, Steven Lorentz and Kyle Okposo — from last season's Stanley Cup champion team. He did that by signing defenseman Nate Schmidt and forwards A.J. Greer, Jesper Boqvist, Tomas Nosek. Zito then struck gold at the trade deadline, acquiring defenseman Seth Jones plus forwards Brad Marchand and Nico Sturm along with backup goaltender Vitek Vanecek to fortify the roster for another playoff push. It led to Florida winning its second consecutive Stanley Cup, becoming just the seventh team in the Expansion Era to do so.
