WWE star Liv Morgan suffers shoulder injury that caused ‘Raw' match to get cut short

New York Post17-06-2025
The plans for the WWE women's title scene may have to be changed.
Star Liv Morgan suffered what Michael Cole described as a dislocated shoulder during Monday's 'Raw,' which forced her match against Kairi Sane to be cut short.

PWInsider described the injury as '100%' legitimate and not a wrestling angle.
Morgan, one-half of the women's tag team champions, suffered the injury when she fell to the mat in the opening moments of the bout.
Her hands hit the mat while she fell face-first, and she immediately grimaced in pain.

The 31-year-old New Jersey native grabbed her right elbow and then rolled out of the ring.
Morgan hobbled for a few seconds before falling to her knees, clutching at that right shoulder.

She clearly seemed in pain while she shuffled along the floor on her knees.
The announcers eventually caught on that Morgan may have legitimately been hurt while Sane held her arms out in the ring, seemingly unsure what was happening.
'That an injury or something?' asked Corey Graves, who was filling in on color commentary for Pat McAfee.

'I think so,' Cole replied. 'Liv may have injured her shoulder.'

Sane remained in the ring with her hands up and played to the crowd, while the referee also stayed put.
The broadcast then cut to a highlight of the move that caused the injury before Cole mentioned a doctor had come to the floor to check on Morgan.
The match did not continue, with Sane being declared the victor.

A potential serious injury would be a tough blow for WWE since Morgan is one of the pillars of the women's division.

The company seemingly hinted at a feud between Morgan and the returning Nikki Bella on last week's 'Raw' with the all-women 'Evolution' pay-per-view coming in July, and any absence would affect the tag team championship picture since she shares the belts with Raquel Rodriguez.
Morgan has not yet commented on the situation on social media.

Did you ever wonder what happens behind the scenes in WWE? WWE (World Wrestling Entertainmant) is the top pro wrestling / sports entertainment company in the world. The financial success of this long-running organization has other pro sports groups taking notice. There's the athletic side of WWE and also the entertainment side. Yes, fans know results are predetermined, but who and how it's determined who will win are part of the company's mystique. It's a process, a very interesting process. SMU alum Chris Weaver will give you a first-hand look at what occurs there as the director of the new docuseries 'WWE: UnReal,' which premieres July 29 on Netflix. From Monday Night RAW to WrestleMania, 'WWE: UnReal' goes backstage with WWE Superstars and staff as they bring the company's major spectacles to life. Season 1 covers from January to WrestleMania in April. So, WWE's biggest battles aren't always in the ring. 'WWE: Unreal' dives into the writers' room where legends — and feuds — are made. Paul Levesque, a 14-time WWE World Champion best known in the ring as Triple H and WWE's chief content officer since 2022, serves as the narrator of the docuseries. Weaver, who has a degree in Communication Arts: Cinema with a minor in English from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, is a senior producer for NFL Films, including the successful NFL reality docuseries 'Hard Knocks' on HBO. He is in his 22nd year working with NFL Films. Prior, he was an intern in the Broadcast Department for the Dallas Cowboys. During his teens years, Weaver gradauted from Mesquite High School in 1998 outside Dallas. Here is my video interview with 'WWE: UnReal' Director Chris Weaver. Weaver is a 9-time Emmy winning filmmaker. He has been instrumental in developing and launching new series such as 'Quarterback' for Netflix, 'Hard Knocks: in Season' for HBO, 'Peyton's Places' for ESPN+, 'All or Nothing' for Amazon, 'NFL Icons' for MGM+, 'NFL Films Drawn' for Youtube, and now 'WWE: UnReal: for Netflix. He has produced numerous features for 'Hard Knocks: Training Camp' for HBO, 'NFL Films Presents' for FS1, 'NFL Gameday All Access' for Youtube, 'Inside the NFL' for CW, 'Hey Rookie: Welcome to the NFL' for ESPN, 'A Football Life' for NFL Network and many more. His current focus is on story producing, lead editing, writing, and field directing. In an unprecedented turn, 'WWE: UnReal' takes you behind the scenes - into the writer's room and the homes of WWE's greatest Superstars - to show the year-round work it takes to execute one of the most secretive shows in the world week over week. Debate over "that" try continues long after the Lions clinch a series win over Australia

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Debate continued Sunday on a hemispheric basis over the last-minute try and absence of a penalty that sealed the British and Irish Lions' 29-26 win over Australia in the second test and a series victory with a match to spare. From the Northern Hemisphere, Jac Morgan's cleanout of Carlo Tizzano at the last breakdown Saturday was fair and perfectly executed. From the Southern Hemisphere, Morgan breached rugby's law 9.20 by striking Tizzano above the shoulders which likely in most matches in the south would have been considered endangerment and would have been penalized. While the Lions woke with the sore heads of celebrants, the Wallabies were left to brood over what might have been. Australia coach Joe Schmidt was emphatic after the match that Italian referee Andrea Piardi had erred in not penalizing Morgan and ruling out the last-minute try to Hugo Keenan which prevented the Wallabies from leveling the series. Piardi and his assistant referees closely studied replays of the final ruck before waving away the entreaties of Wallabies captain Harry Wilson and awarding the try. In explanation, Piardi said Tizzano and Morgan had arrived at the ruck at the same time and their collision was part of the normal rough and tumble of the game. 'You just have to read law 9.20 and I guess you just have to listen to the description from the referee and then watch the vision,' Schmidt told a news conference after the match. 'When two players are described as arriving at the same time, just watch the footage. 'Players make errors. Match officials make errors. Our perspective is we felt it was a decision that doesn't really live up to the big player safety push that they're talking about. You cannot hit someone above the level of the shoulders and there's no wrapping with the left arm, the hands on the ground. That's what we've seen, and we've watched a number of replays from different angles. It is what it is. We just have to accept it.' Some Lions fans even went as far as to accuse Tizzano of 'simulation," by trying to exaggerate the incident to influence the referee. 'I thought it was a brilliant clear-out, honestly, didn't you? It depends on what side of the fence you come from,' Farrell said. 'I thought it was a good clear-out live. I couldn't understand what they were going back for. They seem to go back for everything these days. But I'm so pleased that the referee held his nerve. It was the right decision in my opinion. 'I can understand people's opinions.' Wallabies and Lions fans clashed on social media long after the crowd of more than 90,000 fans — the most ever to watch the Lions — had left the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Fans from the north and south agreed only that this had been one of the great test matches and most memorable of rugby occasions. ___
