The encounter that broke out in the evening of July 2 continued on the third day, on Friday, with additional security being deployed.
Helicopters, drones, and sniffer dogs were reportedly deployed in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar as the search operation to track down the terrorists hiding in a forest area continued on Day 3 on Friday.
The operation comes in the aftermath of an encounter that broke out between the terrorists and the security forces in the heavily forested Kanzal Mandu area of the Kuchal-Chatroo belt on Wednesday.
According to an official cited by PTI, the encounter broke out at nearly 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday when the police, assisted by the Army and CRPF, launched a cordon and search operation in Kuchal.
The operation was launched based on inputs provided by intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the area, the official informed.
The official further added that they believe that there are two to three terrorists present in the area. The search for the missing terrorists has also been expanded in the Chatroo forest region.
Helicopters, drones, and sniffer dogs are being used in the operation, and the cordon has been further reinforced with the deployment of additional troops, said the official.
Notably, the encounter that broke out on Wednesday is the second in the Jammu region in the last one week.
Earlier on June 26, a terrorist of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed was killed in an encounter with the security forces, while three of his associates managed to escape into the forested area of the Basantgarh belt in Udhampur district.

Accused No 27: ‘Transported 50 kg gold' and more, what chargesheets against Nirav Modi's brother Nehal say

Born and raised in Belgium's Antwerp, Nehal Deepak Modi is a high-profile diamond merchant, a global citizen fluent in English, Gujarati and Hindi, and fugitive fraudster now arrested in the US on India's request. Nehal Modi, 46, is a Belgian citizen, seen here in an image from some years ago.(X/@SunilKu94764515) He is also Accused Number 27 in a chargesheet by India's Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that accuses him of destroying evidence to cover up a criminal conspiracy. At the core of this conspiracy is his brother Nirav Modi, who is in jail in the UK, and over ₹13,000 crore in fraudulent loans taken from the government-run Punjab National Bank (PNB). Also read: Who is Nehal Modi, arrested in US? His loan-and-pawn diamond fraud runs wide US authorities have arrested Nehal, 46, eight years younger to brother Nirav, on extradition pleas by India's Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), officials said on Saturday. His next hearing is on July 17, when he may seek bail, which is expected to be opposed by US prosecutors, officials said, according to news agency PTI. In the proceedings in the US, two charges are primary: of money laundering and criminal conspiracy. The investigation agencies say Nirav Modi had, through his companies, embezzled ₹6,498 crore from PNB, while the remaining amount was misappropriated by his uncle Mehul Choksi in a similar modus operandi. 'Forced directors to lie, relocate' Nehal laundered the proceeds of the crime on behalf of Nirav through a web of shell companies and offshore transactions, as per the ED. He transported 50 kg of gold and 'substantial' cash from Dubai, the chargesheet says. In a supplementary chargesheet submitted by the CBI, he is 'accused number 27' for destroying evidence in Dubai. The CBI says Nehal Modi intimidated directors of Dubai-based shell companies used by Nirav Modi to 'give a veneer of legitimacy' to a fraudulent trade, PTI has reported. These 'intimidated' people, employees of Nirav Modi's companies, were 'coerced' into relocating from Dubai to Cairo, during which their phones, laptops and computer servers were destroyed to erase evidence.

Arrested terror suspect a ‘big fish' bomb maker, influenced by Zakir Naik: Andhra Police

'This fellow (Siddique) whom we caught is too big a fish than what we had thought…This fellow is too big a fellow, who had travelled all across the length and breadth of this country. Who frequently travelled to the Gulf also, Abubacker Siddique,' Praveen told PTI. Kurnool Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Koya Praveen said Abubacker Siddique operated as a lone wolf, providing his terror expertise to those who shared his radical ideology and was influenced by radical fugitive preacher Zakir Naik. Rayachoti (Andhra Pradesh), Jul 5 (PTI) The Andhra Pradesh police on Saturday identified one of the two terror suspects arrested here recently by Tamil Nadu police as a 'big fish', with advanced bomb making skills. Recently, Tamil Nadu's Anti-Terrorism Squad arrested Siddique and his accomplice Mohammed Ali in Rayachoti in Annamayya district. 'Zakir Naik school of thought. He is more of a lone wolf. Ideologically motivated and an expert in making IEDs and electronic devices, timer explosive devices,' said Praveen. According to police, Siddique is an expert maker of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), timer explosive devices and other highly lethal materials. Police conducted a fresh round of searches today at the duo's premises, but did not find any explosives. They managed to confiscate some documents and pen drives. Earlier, police recovered daggers, sickles, digital timers, clock switches, speed controllers, ball bearings, nuts and bolts, binoculars, walkie-talkies, mobile phones, and hacking software. They also seized maps of major Indian cities, coding manuals, ISIS-inspired literature, property documents, digital storage devices, cheque books, and financial records linked to suspicious transactions. On July 3, police disposed of a parcel bomb seized from them. After settling in Rayachoti, the DIG noted that Siddique, who is in his mid-50s, had carried out the bomb blast at BJP's Malleshwaram office in Bengaluru. Siddique was allegedly involved in the 2011 pipe-bomb planting attempt during BJP veteran and former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani's rath yatra in Tamil Nadu's Madurai, among other terror activities.
