Seven people arrested for impaired driving over weekend in South Simcoe
Police say from Friday evening to Sunday, seven motorists accused of being impaired by alcohol, drugs, or both were taken into custody.
'Impaired driving doesn't just mean drinking and driving,' the police service stated. 'It includes operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs, including cannabis and prescription medications that can affect your ability to drive safely.'
As a result of the impaired driving charge, all seven motorists were handed licence suspensions and their vehicles were towed away to an impound lot. Additionally, each will have to appear in court to answer to the charge.
'Driving impaired, whether by alcohol or drugs, is a choice that puts everyone on the road at risk,' South Simcoe police added. 'These arrests are an important reminder that impaired driving will not be tolerated in our communities.'
