District gears up for Intermediate advanced supplementary exams
Chairing a review meeting with officials on Monday at the Collectorate conference hall, Additional District Collector Shivendra Pratap emphasized the need for meticulous planning to avoid any lapses during the examinations. He directed officials from all concerned departments to coordinate effectively and implement necessary measures for the seamless execution of the exams.
The examinations will be held in two sessions each day. First-year exams are scheduled from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, while second-year exams will take place from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. A total of 9,069 students are expected to appear for the examinations across the district, which includes 5,787 first-year and 3,282 second-year students from both General and Vocational streams.
To accommodate the students, 19 examination centers have been established. These include ten centers in Government Junior Colleges, one in a Telangana Social Welfare Junior College, and eight in Private Unaided Junior Colleges.
ADC Shivendra Pratap concluded by stressing the importance of conducting the exams in a peaceful and disciplined manner. He urged all departments to cooperate fully and ensure there is no negligence. He also made it clear that mobile phones will not be permitted inside any examination center under any circumstances.

Call to admit dropouts in schools
Eluru: District collector K Vetriselvi said it is the responsibility of parents, teachers and other stakeholders to ensure that all children between the ages of 6 and 14 in the district attend school. She clarified that the same applies to the officials. A meeting of the district-level awareness monitoring committee was held at the Collectorate here on Thursday on the implementation of 'Nenu Badiki Potha' programme. On the occasion, the collector unveiled posters published by Sarva Shiksha as part of the programme to enrol dropouts in schools. Speaking on the occasion, Vetriselvi said that it is a social responsibility to complete the student enrolment programme 100 per cent in the district. Village, mandal and division level committees have been formed to get school dropouts back into school. In the meeting, the importance of education and the various facilities provided by the government in government schools should be informed to the parents and steps should be taken to enrol their children in school. The differences between the enrolment of children last year and this year should be identified and dropouts should be admitted to school accordingly. A door-to-door awareness programme should be organised at the field level for the next 15 days. Similarly, efforts should be made to visit the area to identify where most children are not attending and enrol them. The top 10 mandals with dropouts should be identified and the district authorities should adopt them and take measures to prevent dropouts. In particular, efforts should be made to keep the district a dropout-free district in coordination with the education, medical, ICDS, labour, revenue and welfare departments. All school-age children should be enrolled in schools and the relevant officials should submit a resolution declaring that there should be no out-of-school children at the level of secretariat, village, mandal and division. Special monitoring should be done to ensure that the enrolment of students in all welfare hostels under the Social Welfare, BC, Minority and ITDA areas of the district is 100 per cent. A helpline number 9533399981 has been set up to provide information regarding dropouts. To make the district a dropout-free district under the 'Nenu Badiki Potha' programme, the committee will have the RDO as Chairman, Deputy DEO as Convenor, DLDO and CDPO as members at the district level and the division level. Similarly, at the mandal level, the MPDO as Chairman, MEO as Convenor, Tahsildar, Anganwadi Supervisor, School Complex Head Master, Panchayat Secretary, Cluster Resource Person, SHG Member and Parents as members. The village and ward level enrolment committees will have welfare and education assistant as convenor, Anganwadi worker, ASHA, ANM, VRO, school headmaster as members. These enrolment committees will be responsible for 100 per cent enrolment, zero dropouts, and door-to-door awareness programmes. Alert officials about dropouts, help reach 100% college enrolment, says Tirunalveli collector
TIRUNELVELI: In a bid to make Tirunelveli a no drop-out district and achieve a 100% college enrolment, collector Dr R Sukumar appealed to teachers and college faculties to alert the district administration if they come across any Class 12 dropouts. He also asked the authorities to keep a check on those students who have lost their parents. The collector was speaking at a special higher education guidance camp held at the Collectorate on Tuesday. "In the 2024-25 academic year, 14,847 students appeared for Class 12 public exam in the district, of which 13,285 cleared it. Among them, 1,035 students did not join any college. To support these students, the administration conducts this special guidance camp. The administration has already taken measures to prevent educational discontinuation. Schemes like Pudhumai Penn and Tamil Pudhalvan are being effectively implemented to promote higher education," Sukumar said. He added that as part of the initiative, two helpline numbers - 95003 24417 and 95005 24417 - are operational at the collectorate's control room to provide counselling with the help of trained teachers. "The administration is also providing financial and emotional support to the students who have lost one or both parents, encouraging them to pursue higher studies. We have asked headmasters of all schools to identify students and find out the reasons for not joining higher education. Suitable support is being arranged through the administration to ensure they are enrolled," he said. The collector also honoured two government school students, who secured admission to prestigious colleges, and seven others who cleared NEET by presenting them with shawls. He also distributed cheques worth Rs 3,500 each to five students for their college fees from his discretionary fund. The event was attended by Chief Educational Officer M Sivakumar, students and parents.

ASR dist sets target of 100% organic farming by 2028
Paderu (ASR District): Alluri Sitarama Raju district collector AS Dinesh Kumar has announced an ambitious plan to achieve 100% organic farming across the district by the year 2028. He urged farmers to make effective use of the agricultural machinery provided by the government to achieve significant progress in the agriculture sector. Addressing a meeting held at the Collectorate on Thursday with farmers who received farm machinery at 50% subsidy during the 2024–25 financial year, the collector emphasised the need for planning at the village secretariat level. He directed officials to conduct a survey to assess the actual requirement of farm equipment across various regions. The collector also interacted with farmers to understand the extent of organic farming being practiced and the use of chemical inputs such as urea, potash, and pesticides. Stressing the importance of awareness, he encouraged farmers to adopt sustainable and eco-friendly organic farming methods. He said that steps have already been taken to promote coffee cultivation across 30,000 acres this year. Additionally, under the Employment Guarantee Scheme, saplings of Maddi, Neredu, and Jackfruit will be distributed to farmers. He encouraged land-owning farmers to expand coffee cultivation in the district. District Agriculture Officer SBS Nand stated that a total of Rs 1.26 crore worth of agricultural machinery has been distributed to 351 farmers at a 50% subsidy. This includes Taiwan sprayers for 95 farmers, tractors for 29, power tillers for 59, brush cutters for 13, and power weeders for 155 farmers. Following the meeting, paddy seeds were also distributed to the farmers.
