'My neighbour lets his dog bark all night long so I got my petty revenge on him'

A man has shared his 'petty revenge' on his neighbour who lets his dog bark outside all night - and people are praising him for giving the owner a 'taste of his own medicine'
A man has been lauded for his 'petty revenge' on a neighbour who allows their dog to bark outside all night long. He detailed how the incessant barking keeps him up at night and despite pleading with his neighbour to address the issue, the neighbour merely laughs it off.
In an attempt to teach him a lesson, he decided to give his 'entitled' neighbour a taste of his own medicine, reports the Mirror.

Sharing his story on Reddit, he said: "Every night from midnight to 3am his dog would bark non-stop right outside my bedroom. Deep loud echoing barks like he was announcing the end of the world. I asked my neighbour twice to bring the dog in. Both times he brushed it off with a smirk and said 'he's just doing his job'.

"Cool. Then I'll do mine."
With that, he began recording the barking on his phone and blasted it at full volume through a speaker against the wall at 6am to rouse his neighbour. He continued: "I repeated that for two mornings. No yelling. No threats.
"Just his own dog giving him a taste of what I'd been dealing with.

"On day three the dog was inside before 10pm. Hasn't barked at night since. Sometimes the best revenge is pressing play."
Responding to his post, one user saod: "I had that problem so I'd put my speaker outside on my wall and played 'We Built this City on Rock and Roll' on repeat for three hours."

Another user chimed in: "Wonderfully petty - and effective - love it!" A third user recounted: "My dad used to get up at 5am to go to work every day. Anytime the neighbour's dog woke him up during the night, they got a knock on the door around 5.30am. Dad would just casually let them know he was off to work and their dog woke him up."
Another person shared: "When my neighbour's dog wouldn't stop barking out in their yard I took a flashlight and aimed the beam at the side of the house.
"The stupid dog chased the beam of light and jumped all over the house. They would come out and yell 'King stop jumping!' and I would start all over again when they went back in... until they finally brought him in."

One more user shared a noisy tenant story, posting: "Years ago my parents had a tenant who would play disco music at an appalling volume every morning at 2am.
"We begged her to stop and she never did. I finally got fed up with her and my brother and I decided to get back at her.
"We parked a very large first amp at her back door and then I added an additional 30 decibels to the song 'Ding Dong, the Witch is Dead' from the Wizard of Oz and attached my CD player to my brother's guitar amp and then we waited.

"The next night her music went on and two minutes later, so did ours.
"I thought her shoe was going to explode it was so loud.
"It blasted out for about two minutes before I heard her yelling she was turning the music off. We had to repeat it a few times, but she eventually got the message."

Harry Potter fans only now spot 'major flaw' in one of series' biggest moments

Harry Potter fans believe they have discovered a "major flaw" in the series, with the rules of a game featured heavily in the early books from J.K. Rowling picked apart by Potterheads A "major flaw" has been found by fans of Harry Potter, who think one of the series' biggest moments is lacking. The Daniel Radcliffe -starring series spanned eight films and HBO are set to revive the J.K. Rowling book series with a remake, but fans are wondering whether a "huge error" will be rectified in the upcoming HBO remake. ‌ Harry Potter fans took to Reddit to discuss the issue, which can be traced all the way back to the books. An "unpopular opinion" was posted to the r/HarryPotter subreddit, where fans believe they have uncovered a huge problem with the fictional game, Quidditch. ‌ ‌ The game Quidditch appears in the Harry Potter series frequently, and features two teams of wizards attempting to score points by netting various balls in three hoops. But the Golden Snitch, a crucial plot element and part of the fictional game, has some detractors. One user wrote: "The rule/function of the golden snitch in Quidditch is stupid and completely ruins what would otherwise be an awesome sport to watch. "Imagine if in basketball each team had a player out in the parking lot trying to catch a frog for the win. You're watching a great gamer that's been neck and neck and then suddenly the buzzer sounds halfway through. 'The game is over, Ramirez has just got the parking lot frog.'" ‌ It's a sentiment shared by some of Harry Potter's biggest fans. One user wrote: "Not unpopular, just true, quidditch is designed as a mock sport." Another fumed: "It fit the early series much better, back when it was more of a fairy tale world and hadn't become too self-serious with its world building." ‌ A third shared: "Back when the books were aiming to be more whimsy than realistic, Quidditch was designed as a mockery of sports. Hence, how ridiculous it functions as a game." Despite the apparent mockery of sports, Quidditch initially proved popular with fans of the series. Other fans were keen to point out that, while catching the Golden Snitch would end the game, it was not necessarily an automatic win. One user wrote: "You don't win if you get the snitch. It's 150 points. It's to balance the game out if you are getting slaughtered. "The game ends when it's caught. It's strategy to hold off catching it in some cases." Another added: "Unpopular opinion: this is how basketball already feels. Two teams just take turns being in the lead and eventually the timer runs out and the team whose turn it was to be in the lead at that moment wins. It's like a two-hour game of eeny-meany-meiny-moe." A third wrote: "But overall you're correct, it was designed this way for story purposes; any other sport it would be silly to think a 6th grader could play a physical sport with high schoolers and contribute to wins."

Virgin River fans baffled by character ages as timeline gives no clues

Virgin River fans appear to be puzzled by the characters' ages in the hit Netflix series, with many saying the show's timeline only adds to the confusion Fans of the hit Netflix show Virgin River have been left scratching their heads after a recent Reddit thread sparked confusion over the ages of some of the show's main characters. ‌ Despite the show's strong storytelling, viewers say the timeline is becoming increasingly hard to follow, particularly when it comes to determining how old the characters are meant to be. ‌ As viewers of the show know, Virgin River's timeline is completely different in comparison to the time frame the series has been released in. The timeframe is around five months from season one to season six, where as the season first premiered in 2019 - six years ago. ‌ Due to the awkward timeline, fans are extremely confused when it comes to Jack and Brady, and what age they are supposed to be in the show. One viewer took to Reddit with the question: "How old is Brady supposed to be if he served in the military with Jack? I know Jack is 50 but Brady still looks to be 25-30?!" ‌ This caused an influx of fans to comment, giving their suggestions on the character ages. One fan replied, confirming that Jack was not 50, instead suggesting he is "around 40". A third fan suggested: "Jack says he enlisted right after college at 18, served for 20 years, and then lived in Virgin River for 7 years. That would make him about 45, I think. Brady is probably around 30 to 35." ‌ One thing that seemed to confuse fans the most was Jack's confession in season three regarding his previous marriage to his high school sweetheart. One viewer stated: "Jack said he got married and divorced at 18, which he said was 30 years ago, so he's at least 48." Another had a guess, penning: "I agree that Brady looks a lot younger. He doesn't have the greying hair and the lines in his face that Jack has. He can't be much younger, though, if they served together when Jack was young." However, one fan had a hilarious response, telling fans to completely ignore the ages of the characters. They stated: "In Virgin River ages don't make sense in the same way Grey's Anatomy ages don't make sense. I try not to think about it too much haha. Just remember in VR - age and time do not exist." ‌ Despite the fan confusion, in Robyn Carr's novels, which the series is based on, Mel is approximately 32 while Jack is 40. Brady is one of the younger male characters and is thought to be around 35. However none of the characters ages have been confirmed within the Netflix series and, with the slow moving timeline of the show, it means almost all of the character haven't aged or celebrated a birthday since episode one of season one.

BBC Strictly Come Dancing in 'cocaine scandal' as probe launched into drug claims on set

The BBC is said to have launched an investigation into cocaine allegations made against two stars Strictly stars The BBC has reportedly engaged a leading law firm to probe allegations of cocaine use by two stars of Strictly Come Dancing, amid claims that their substance misuse was widely known on the show. ‌ It's been reported tonight that former contestants, professional dancers, and crew members are being asked to share any concerns they may have with solicitors at Pinsent Masons. ‌ The popular BBC series, which has been hit by numerous scandals in recent years, is now mired in controversy following drug use allegations submitted to the BBC in March by Russells Solicitors on behalf of a celebrity contestant. ‌ It's understood that more individuals have also made allegations of drug use on Strictly Come Dancing to the BBC, reports the Mirror. In a statement given to the Mirror, a spokesperson for the BBC said: "We have clear protocols and policies in place for dealing with any serious complaint raised with us. We would always encourage people to speak to us if they have concerns. It would not be appropriate for us to comment further." ‌ The Sun reports that one of the allegations involves a Strictly star who allegedly remarked on another person's dilated pupils, suggesting drug intoxication, by saying: "Have you seen their pupils . . . they're off their face". Moreover, The Sun has reported that a celebrity has claimed it's well-known within the show's circle that two stars were using cocaine, a topic reportedly widespread among the cast. An insider stated: "These claims are extremely serious and should be taken as such. Given only last year that the BBC's Director-General promised to clean up Strictly, it seems particularly shocking. ‌ "The idea of the show's stars discussing drug-taking is deeply disturbing. The BBC have known about these allegations for some time, and acknowledged receiving them." It's been reported that the state-funded broadcaster is "taking firm action". ‌ The development comes just weeks before the BBC officially unveils this year's Strictly Come Dancing cast. Every year, anticipation builds as fans eagerly await the line-up reveal and 2025 is shaping up to be no different. The rumour mill is in full swing, with speculation swirling around a wide range of potential contestants, including stars from reality television, soaps and even former athletes. Excitement is mounting, and while no appearances have been confirmed, the buzz surrounding their possible involvement has fans talking. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
