Cairokee consists of lead vocalist Amir Eid, lead guitarist Sherif Hawary, drummer Tamer Hashem, keyboarder Sherif Mostafa, and bass guitarist Adam el-Alfy.
The band was founded in 2003 but rose to fame with its revolutionary music after the 2011 Revolution due to its politically inspired lyrics and protest songs released following the revolution.
They were friends ever since they were young during their school days and Hashem was already a drummer back then.
In 2003, Eid and Hawary had already started an English band initially called, 'The Black Star' and started playing covers of English songs alongside an Egyptian song entitled 'Ghariba' that was loved by their audiences.
The band's first major hit was 'Sout El Horeya' which has millions of views on YouTube and was ranked a world record as one of the most-watched videos in the shortest period of time.
Their song 'Ya El Midan', featuring prominent Egyptian singer Aida el Ayoubi, who had previously retired in the 1990s, ranked number one on Facebook worldwide for downloads and number eight on YouTube with over half a million views on the video channel in just two days after its debut release.
Cairokee was mainly influenced by The Beatles and Pink Floyd.

The cast includes some of the region's most beloved stars: Riham Abdel Ghafour Mohamed Farrag, Samah Anwar, Tara Emad, Ali El Beialy, Retal Abd El Aziz, Donia Sami, Sedky Sakhr, Dina Samy, Khaled Kamal, Bayoumi Fouad, and more. Directed by Waleed El Halafawy and penned by Ayman Wattar, "Catalog" is set in Cairo and follows Youssef (Farrag), a father of two reeling from the sudden loss of his wife, Amina (Abdel Ghafour). However, Youssef finds a lifeline in the most unexpected place: a series of parenting videos his late wife recorded before her death. Each video becomes more than just a guide to a different life — they're breadcrumbs and a lifeline leading Youssef back to his children, himself, and to a version of fatherhood he never imagined he had. The series' official logline reads:" After the loss of his wife, Youssef, a devoted father, navigates the ups and downs of parenthood while carrying the weight of grief." "Catalog" combines emotional rawness with gentle humor, exploring not just the grief, but the process of rebuilding. The drama marks Abdel Ghafour and Farag's second collaboration after the series adaptation of ' Room 207 '. "Catalog" is set to debut on Thursday, July 17 on Netflix. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan
