All six from Jkhand kidnapped in Tamil Nadu rescued: Police
The development comes a day after Jharkhand Health Minister Irfan Ansari expressed apprehension that there was a life threat to all of them.
'The Tamil Nadu Police contacted us. Based on our inputs, they rescued all six workers. However, criminals, who are allegedly involved in the incident, have been absconding as per information we have so far," Jamtara Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajukumar Mehta told PTI.
All six workers went to Tamil Nadu to earn their livelihood, he said, adding that their ages and other details would be known once they arrive in Jamtara.
The rescued workers are currently at Salem police station in Tamil Nadu, and arrangements are being made to bring them back to Jharkhand, another police officer said.
Jharkhand Health Minister Irfan Ansari had on Monday expressed apprehension that there was a life threat to six people allegedly kidnapped in Tamil Nadu.
He urged the Tamil Nadu DGP and chief secretary to immediately intervene and rescue all six people.
'Six children from my assembly constituency, Jamtara (Narayanpur block), have been kidnapped in Tamil Nadu. The kidnappers are continuously demanding ransom. The frightened family has also transferred Rs 30,000," Ansari had said in a post on X.
He also shared names of the six Jamtara natives and transaction details.
'The lives of these innocent children are in serious danger", he said in the post, sharing that the kidnapped persons are Irfan Ansari, Jaheer Ansari, Arbaz Ansari, Kismat Ansari, Irshad Ansari and Ulfat Ansari He also shared the mobile numbers, which were found switched off. PTI NAM/SAN BDC

"There was a gradual increase of passengers density on the FOB after 8.15 pm. Many of the passengers were carrying big headloads affecting smooth movement on the FOB. 'There was a big headload falling from one of the passengers and the pressure was passed on to the stairs of PF 14/15 stairs, resulting in the tripping of passengers on the stairs. This led to an incident at 8.48 pm on FOB-3, which was limited to the stairs of FOB. Consequently, passengers fell on each other." The Minister informed the House that in the incident, 18 people lost their lives and 15 others were injured. According to Mr. Vaishnaw, an ex-gratia amount of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased, an amount of Rs 2.5 lakh each to the grievously injured and Rs 1 lakh each to other injured has been paid. "Accordingly, a total amount of Rs 2.01 crore has been paid to 33 victims and their family members," Mr. Vaishnaw said. The Railway Minister said the government has taken several actions to handle the heavy rush of passengers at stations, including the creation of permanent holding areas and access control measures — allowing passengers with confirmed tickets — at 73 identified stations, widening foot overbridges, installing CCTV cameras, developing war rooms at big stations, among others.

Meghalaya govt orders probe into misappropriation of 4,000 MT coal
Shillong, Aug 2 (PTI) The Meghalaya government has ordered an investigation into the alleged misappropriation of over 4,000 metric tonnes (MT) of coal in the state, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said on Saturday. Tynsong, who also holds the Home portfolio, said that instructions have been issued to the district authorities and the police to conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter. 'We have asked deputy commissioners and superintendents of police to investigate if there has been any misappropriation or illegal diversion of coal," the deputy chief minister told PTI. The directive comes close on the heels of a revelation by a High Court-appointed committee that over 4,000 metric tonnes of coal, already declared as extracted and inventoried, have vanished from two designated storage sites. The committee, in its latest report to the Meghalaya High Court, said the disappearance raises serious questions about the state's mechanism for monitoring coal stock and preventing illegal transportation. Tynsong said the government will take action if any wrongdoing is established. 'If there is anything wrong, we will proceed according to the law. Even if it requires us to approach the Supreme Court, we will do so," he added. The state's probe will focus on tracing both diesel and coal inventories, including movement, documentation, and field verification. The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Reliance Group Chairman Anil Ambani for questioning on August 5 in a money laundering case linked to an alleged bank loan fraud worth crores of rupees against his group companies, official sources were quoted as saying by news agency PTI on Friday. The federal probe agency has also notified a Look Out Circular (LOC) against the 66-year-old businessman to stop him from travelling abroad, the sources said, PTI reported. He has been asked to depose at the ED headquarters in Delhi on August 5 as the case has been registered here. Moreover, the ED is also looking at allegations of 'illegal' loan diversion of around Rs 3,000 crore, given by Yes Bank to the group companies of Ambani between 2017-2019.
