CM Naidu, Pawan Kalyan launch one crore plantation in a day programme
They, along with Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana, planted the saplings at ADCL Park in the state capital, Amaravati.
The leaders visited the stalls arranged by the Pollution Control Board (PCB) on environmental protection.
PCB Chairman Krishnaiah explained to the Chief Minister the steps being taken for plastic recycling.
The Chief Minister directed officials to formulate a special policy on recycling. He asked them to give him a report on this every 15 days.
Earlier, Chandrababu Naidu, in his post on 'X' said that nature is not the property of anyone.
"Everyone is responsible for protecting the environment. It is our duty to protect forests and water resources. That is why the government has taken up a large-scale tree planting programme. On the occasion of World Environment Day, today, we are requesting everyone to participate in the programme of planting one crore trees in one day," CM Naidu said.
"This year, the theme of World Environment Day is plastic pollution eradication. Let us do our part to reduce plastic pollution. Let us take a pledge to protect the environment," he added.
Pawan Kalyan, who is also the Minister for Forest and Environment, stated that a clean and healthy environment is the greatest gift we can offer future generations.
"Let us act responsibly and take up the duty of environmental protection. Let's plant saplings, prevent water pollution, and work towards the conservation of wildlife," Pawan Kalyan said.
Meanwhile, the Forest Department said that Andhra Pradesh currently has 29 per cent land under green (tree) cover.
The state government has set a target of increasing this to 50 per cent by 2047 by greening various types of land available with the farmers, the Revenue Department, institutional lands, lands along roadside, railway lines and canals.
Out of the total geographical area of 1,62,923 square kilometres in the state, 48,978 square kilometres has green cover. Green cover is planned over an additional area of 32,483 square kilometres.
According to the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, this year World Environment Day is being celebrated with two themes - 'Vana Mahotsav' programme and 'End plastic pollution' to achieve the goal of a 'Swachh Andhra Pradesh'.
A record one crore seedlings will be planted by various departments and other stakeholders across the state in a single day on Thursday.
During the 2025 planting season, the Forest Department, Rural Development, Pollution Control Board, Horticulture Departments and others have set a target of planting 5.58 crore saplings over approximately 1.8 lakh hectares in all districts across the state.

India have found support from both Sri Lanka and Afghanistan over the demand to shift the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) from Dhaka, according to a report by Cricbuzz. It has become a highly-contested topic between India and Pakistan with major implications on the next edition of Asia Cup. The AGM, which will be chaired by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), was supposed to take place in Dhaka on July 24-25. However, the BCCI have insisted on a change on venue and they have now received support from two key allies. In order for the meeting to take place, three permanent (Test playing) members will have to attend and as a result, this development has come as a major blow to PCB. According to the report, the ACC constitution states that at least 10 full or Associate members will also have to be present in the meeting. Nepal, UAE, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Qatar are all full members. The Associates members are Bahrain, Bhutan, Cambodia, Tajikistan, Maldives, Japan, Iran, China, Myanmar and Indonesia. The report stated that among these nations, the presence of Oman, Nepal, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Kuwait, UAE, Bahrain, Bhutan, Maldives, Myanmar and Indonesia seem doubtful. The BCCI wanted the venue to be changed from Dhaka considering the rise in diplomatic tensions between the two countries. However, Mohsin Naqvi, the PCB and ACC chief, has refused to consider any changes and even skipped the ICC Annual Conference in Singapore. Earlier, the BCCI even cancelled a white-ball series against Bangaldesh. "It now seems the event has turned into a geopolitical matter. Aminul (Islam, the interim head of the BCB) could have handled the situation more carefully when approached by the PCB president to host the meeting. I think he could have taken more time because, in situations like this, taking time is part of the game. Probably due to inexperience, he agreed to host it without fully understanding the geopolitical implications," a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) insider told Cricbuzz. "Bulbul (Aminul) was requested to cancel the meeting as some of the board directors were not ready to do anything that can hurt the BCCI but the president insisted that he had given his word so cannot return back after giving his words to PCB."

Andhra Pradesh to develop India's largest ecosystem for green hydrogen
Amaravati: The Green Hydrogen Valley proposed by the government of Andhra Pradesh aspires to become India's green hydrogen capital by 2030, promoting the country's largest eco-system for production of green hydrogen and its derivatives in partnership with industry and academia. It also aims to accelerate domestic R and D and capacity building in green hydrogen technologies, including testing facilities. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday released Green Hydrogen Valley-Amaravati declaration The key targets under Green Hydrogen Valley include establishing Electrolyser manufacturing capacity of 2 GW by 2027 and 5 GW by 2029, 1.50 MMTPA Green Hydrogen production capacity by 2029, achieving cost reduction from ₹460 per Kg to ₹160-170 per Kg by 2029 and creation of transmission infrastructure (Green Energy Corridor) to evacuate 25 GW RE power by 2029. The declaration was finalised based on the deliberations at the Green Hydrogen Summit held last week here in association with the Government of Andhra Pradesh and NREDCAP. The summit focused on green hydrogen production, storage, and distribution; green hydrogen applications in industry, transport, and power generation; policy, standards, and capacity building for a sustainable hydrogen ecosystem. According to the declaration, by 2030 at least 60 per cent of all electrolyser components and storage solutions deployed in the state will be produced locally, reducing import dependency. At least three new production units for electrolyser and hydrogen storage manufacturing will be established, with a combined production capacity of at least 4-5 GW for electrolyser equipment. The Green Hydrogen Valley will establish skilling ecosystem, specialised research Hubs with dedicated green hydrogen research centres, create cross-disciplinary labs, encourage collaborations with premier institutes, promote Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models to fund breakthrough projects, incentivise joint ventures between local start-ups and global hydrogen tech firms and facilitate knowledge exchange forums, workshops, and annual innovation summits. The Green Hydrogen Valley will establish India's first Integrated Green Hydrogen Skilling Eco System in collaboration with reputed Universities and Institutions, to offer engineer upskilling and technician certifications - training 200 specialists in the first year and 2,000 annually by 2030. The declaration says that the Green Hydrogen Valley will spearhead the creation of a robust start-up ecosystem in the green hydrogen sector. To catalyse innovation, the state will support start-ups working across the entire green hydrogen value chain. The declaration noted that Andhra Pradesh is richly endowed with solar and wind energy potential, complemented by pumped hydro storage capacity, creating favourable conditions for large-scale development of green hydrogen. The state's long coastline further strengthens its position by offering an ideal ecosystem for exporting green hydrogen and its derivatives to Southeast Asian countries.
