‘Introduce Act to protect revenue employees, surveyors and VAOs'
In a press release issued here on Saturday, M.P. Murugaiyan, one among the coordinators, said that the employees faced not only challenges in fulfilling the government's programmes for the benefit of the needy people, but also received threats and abusive words at times, while at their work.
In a bid to give a morale support to the employees on the ground, the government should introduce a Bill in the Assembly and bring the Act which would discourage the people from indulging in threats against the government employees.
The FERA sought filling up of vacancies in government departments comprising revenue, disaster management, survey among others. The human resources shortage had to be addressed at the earliest, as the revenue department played a pivotal role in taking the government's schemes and programmes to the masses.
The senior officers in the revenue administration should give an ample time to the staff members to take the schemes to the people. Within a short notice, the government expected the schemes to be implemented and with a huge shortage, it was humanly impossible to execute the works.
Mr. Stalin, the memorandum said, should understand the plight of the revenue officials and fill vacancies.
The government has been encouraging contract/temporary basis appointments. This should be dropped and all the recruitments should be only on permanent basis. Terms like outsourcing and introducing private sector or private agencies in the revenue department would be a risky proposition to the government.
The FERA members recalled the successful implementation of the KMUT (Kalaingnar Mahalir Urimai Thittam) to over 1 crore women beneficiaries in the State within a record time from the announcement. The sustained work by the revenue department round the clock was the reason for taking it to the people in a short notice.
The FERA appealed to the CM to declare July 1 as Revenue Department Day and suggested it to be celebrated every year.
The delegation included TNVAOMS State president A. Boopathy, TNVAOA general secretary C. Kumar, TNRVEA general secretary S. Ravi and TNSOU general secretary Anna Guberan and others, the release added.

Ungaludan Stalin: 10K special camps to resolve public grievances planned across Tamil Nadu
CHENNAI: Chief Minister MK Stalin will kickstart the 'Ungaludan Stalin' programme in Chidambaram, Cuddalore, on July 15, aiming to resolve people's grievances through 10,000 special camps across the state. Actions will be taken on the applications received through these camps within 45 days, according to a release. Among other services, eligible women who have been left out of the Kalaignar Mahalir Urimai Thittam (KMUT) can submit their applications at these camps to avail of the benefit. These special camps will be held in all the districts till November-end. According to the government, the objective of the scheme is to deliver essential government services and welfare schemes directly to the people, ensuring maximum coverage of eligible beneficiaries. A total of 3,768 camps will be held in urban areas and 6,232 in rural areas. Urban camps will offer 43 services from 13 government departments, while rural camps will provide 46 services from 15 departments. Medical camps will also be conducted at all these camps to provide health services.

T.N. CM Stalin to launch ‘Ungaludan Stalin' on July 15 for doorstep delivery of government services
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is set to launch the first camp of the 'Ungaludan Stalin' (Stalin with you) initiative, aimed at directly addressing public grievances and delivering government services through special camps at people's doorsteps, on July 15 at Chidambaram Municipality in Cuddalore district. Under this initiative, a total of 10,000 special camps will be organised across both rural and urban areas in all districts from July 15 to November. According to an official release, the initiative aims to bring government services and welfare schemes directly to people's neighbourhoods. Of the total camps, 3,768 will be conducted in urban areas, while 6,232 will be held in rural areas. At the camps in urban areas, 43 services from 13 departments will be offered, while 46 services from 15 departments will be made available at camps in rural areas. In addition, medical services will be provided at each camp to ensure the well-being of the public, the release said. As part of the initiative, nearly one lakh trained volunteers will visit each household starting July 7, to inform people about the date and location of their nearest camp. They will also explain the various government services being provided, the eligibility criteria, and the documents required to avail of the services. Information booklets and application forms will also be distributed. Women who are eligible but have been left out of the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme can submit their applications at the camp. Applications for this scheme will be issued only at these camps. All applications received will be processed, and appropriate action will be taken within 45 days, the release added.
