‘Running With the Wolves' Review: Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos on ESPN

Regular viewers of 'Live With Kelly and Mark,' the highly rated, nationally syndicated morning talk show on ABC television, are regularly updated on new movies, trendy recipes and the stats on Campobasso FC, a third-tier Italian soccer club based in the largely overlooked region of Molise. Why? Because co-hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are part owners. Are foreign sports teams the new celebrity accessory? Our hosts are in on that joke: The first thing that pops up in their ESPN series 'Running With the Wolves' is an interview last year with Ryan Reynolds, whose 'Welcome to Wrexham' has chronicled his own purchase, with actor Rob McElhenney, of a storied Welsh football team. 'Wolves,' also the nickname of the Campobasso players, is a different kind of show than 'Wrexham,' beginning with the fact that Ms. Ripa and Mr. Consuelos are married, and Messrs. Reynolds and McElhenney are not. The chemical equations are different. And the running gag is that Ms. Ripa apparently thought buying a troubled calcio squad was all about Mr. Consuelos scratching a sports itch and would be the gateway to him buying her a villa in Italy. As of episode 4 of this four-part season (there will be more), no real estate has been acquired. But there's enough stress to fill St. Peter's Basilica.

White House targets ‘The View,' Joy Behar over Trump criticism

The White House is blasting ABC's 'The View' and co-host Joy Behar over her criticism of President Trump, who she said this week is attacking former President Obama because he is 'jealous' of him. 'Joy Behar is an irrelevant loser suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome,' a White House spokesperson said in a statement on Wednesday to Fox News Digital and other media outlets. 'It's no surprise that 'The View's ratings hit an all-time low last year,' the spokesperson added. 'She should self-reflect on her own jealousy of President Trump's historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off-air.' On Thursday, Behar sparked brief speculation that 'The View' could face scrutiny over its commentary on the president. 'Before we go on hiatus, we only have one more show after this, I'm allowed to say that right,' Behar said. 'Too late now,' co-host Alyssa Farrah Griffin joked. 'Before we go, I wanted to tell people that the tide is turning,' she said. 'And things are changing.' At the end of Thursday's broadcast, co-host Whoopi Golderg clarified by saying ,'Okay … so this what's going on. We will see you all for another new show, and we'll be back for our new season in September.' Trump has routinely attacked ABC News over its coverage of his administration, and earlier this week suggested Late Night host Jimmy Kimmel could be canceled by the network. ABC has indicated no plans to do so. The network late last year agreed to pay Trump $15 million to settle a lawsuit the president brought against the company last year, the first of two major settlements Trump has won over major news networks in the last six months.

Star-led festival to honor Michael Jackson and Jackson family in Gary. Brothers attending

A block party celebrating one of the biggest families in entertainment is on tap for Indiana. The City of Gary will host the "2300 Jackson Street Block Party" August 29-30, honoring the Jackson family, including Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson and the Jackson 5. Comedian and actor Chris Tucker and Grammy-winning Gary native Deniece Williams will host, while DJ Kid Capri performs at the free event that will feature food trucks, vendors and a kids play zone. The festivities will take place from noon to 7 p.m. each day. The August 29 celebration will focus on Michael Jackson on his birthday. On August 30, the entire Jackson family will be honored. Though named for the childhood home of the nine musical children of Joe and Katherine Jackson, the Jacksons block party will take place at Roosevelt High School, 730 W. 25th Ave. The now-closed school is where, in 1966, the Jackson 5 won its first talent show. Jackie and Marlon Jackson will be honored guests at the event. Michael Jackson's childhood home: How to visit in Gary, Indiana Brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael Jackson formed the Jackson 5 in Gary and had four consecutive number-one Billboard Hot 100 hits from their 1969 Motown debut album ("I Want You Back," "ABC," "The Love You Save," "I'll Be There"). After Jermaine left the group in 1976, their youngest brother, Randy, stepped in, and the band was renamed the Jacksons ("Blame It on the Boogie," "Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)"). The Jackson 5 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. Michael Jackson, who died in 2009, was inducted as a solo artist in 2001, and their sister Janet Jackson was inducted in 2019. Sisters Rebbie and La Toya also recorded albums that yielded hit singles. August 29 August 30 For information, visit
