Rita Ora left speechless by shocking Masked Singer moment

Express Tribune01-05-2025

The Masked Singer season 13 took a dramatic turn during its semi-finals episode on April 30, when Oscar-winning director Taika Waititi was unmasked as the season's surprise character Lucky Duck.
The twist stunned viewers—and judge Rita Ora, who is Waititi's wife.
Lucky Duck had been dropping clues throughout the season but fully entered the competition during the semi-finals, interrupting the elimination process and using the "Ding Dong Keep It On" bell to send all four remaining contestants—Coral, Boogie Woogie, Pearl, and Mad Scientist Monster—to the finale.
Then came the shocker: Lucky Duck unmasked himself without prompting, revealing his identity to the judges. Waititi joked, 'I'm a pop star, America!' and added that he joined the show just to see his wife. 'You guys got her working so hard, I never get to see her,' he said playfully.
The semi-finals also featured standout performances, with Coral singing Billie Eilish's 'What Was I Made For?' and Boogie Woogie tackling Maroon 5's 'Maps.' Pearl delivered 'You Don't Own Me' while Mad Scientist Monster performed 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' by Shaboozey.
Season 13 has already unmasked stars like Edwin McCain, Erika Jayne, James Van Der Beek, Candace Cameron Bure, and Method Man. Hosted by Nick Cannon with judges Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke, and Rita Ora, the season finale airs May 7 at 8 p.m. on FOX.
Fans can expect even more surprises as the remaining contestants battle for the Golden Mask Trophy.

Florence Pugh and Melissa McCarthy support canceled Tiny Chef Show as creators launch fundraising campaign

The creators of The Tiny Chef Show are receiving overwhelming support from fans and celebrities following Nickelodeon's decision to cancel the Emmy and Annie Award-winning series after three seasons. In a recent interview with Vulture, co-creators Ozi Akturk and Rachel Larsen shared insights into the show's unexpected cancellation and the response that followed. 'We didn't expect this kind of attention,' said Akturk, noting that the show's YouTube comment count surged from under 100 to over a thousand. 'People who didn't know Chef were coming from Twitter and BuzzFeed to see what's happening.' Larsen expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, saying the show has connected with a new audience. 'We're getting people saying, 'I just found you, but I want to support you.' It's resonating,' she said. 'We want Chef to feel real. He's such a lovable, wholesome, funny little fella. The stop-motion is just a tool to give people permission to play along that he's real.' Among those showing support are actors Florence Pugh and Melissa McCarthy, both of whom publicly engaged with the show's content. Indie studio A24 also reached out to the creators. In response to the cancellation, the team quickly turned to creative storytelling to keep Chef's spirit alive. They produced a video imagining Tiny Chef receiving the cancellation call. The project took three weeks to complete, from scripting and recording to animation and editing. To sustain the character independently, the team launched a fundraising campaign that has brought in approximately $80,000 through one-time donations and fan-club memberships. As the creators continue exploring Chef's next chapter, they remain hopeful that this wave of support might pave a new way forward — not just for Tiny Chef, but for other shows in similar positions. 'We can make good stuff no matter what,' Larsen said. 'People should stay tuned and watch his journey.'

Beyoncés '16 Carriages' car malfunctions mid-air during Cowboy Carter Houston concert

Beyoncé delivered another memorable moment during her Cowboy Carter Tour in Houston when a stage prop malfunctioned mid-performance. While performing '16 Carriages,' the Grammy Award-winning artist was suspended above the audience in a red floating car when it unexpectedly tilted, causing concern among fans. As the car shifted, Beyoncé briefly slid in her seat, narrowly avoiding a fall. The 43-year-old artist remained composed and continued singing before calmly signalling to pause the show. Stage crew swiftly responded, safely lowering the car and assisting her back to the stage. Once back on solid ground, Beyoncé exited briefly before returning to complete the performance. She addressed the incident with grace and humour, telling the audience, 'If I ever fall, I know y'all would catch me,' drawing applause and easing the tension. The performance marked the first of two shows in her hometown, following a successful run through the UK and Europe. Beyoncé's Houston return came just days after she concluded the European leg of her tour in France, where she attended the Louis Vuitton show and received a new handbag directly from Pharrell Williams.

Brad Pitt's Los Angeles home burglarised

Burglars broke into Brad Pitt's Los Angeles home on Thursday, ransacking the property and fleeing with stolen items while the Oscar-winning actor was travelling to promote his new racing thriller F1, US media reported. A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson told NBC News that a break-in took place at a residence in the Los Feliz neighbourhood around 10:30PM (0530 GMT), without officially confirming who owned the home. Police sources told NBC News and the Los Angeles Times that three suspects climbed over a front fence and broke in through the home's front window before ransacking the location and fleeing with some belongings. The value of the stolen items has not been disclosed. Pitt was not home at the time, as he has been on a global promotional tour for his new movie F1. The 61-year-old actor attended the film's premiere in London this week. The property was purchased by Pitt in 2023 for $5.5 million, according to Variety magazine. Pitt is among the most recent celebrities to have their Los Angeles homes burglarized. About $500,000 of jewellery was allegedly stolen from the home of French striker Olivier Giroud of MLS side Los Angeles FC in a burglary in February. That same month, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's residence was reportedly burglarized. On the work front, Pitt has been grabbing headlines with his Formula One film. Formula One is hoping the film cements the appeal of the Netflix docu-series Drive to Survive that has boosted Formula One's popularity and growth worldwide and particularly in the key US market. "I think there's this perception that Drive to Survive turned America onto F1 but I think there's just so many more people out there that don't know anything about it," said director Joseph Kosinski. "So there's a lot of potential still there."
