MPL: Jabalpur Royal Lions secure crucial win over Rewa Jaguars
Despite suffering their first defeat, Rewa maintained their top position with seven points from five matches. Jabalpur posted 185/6, whilst Rewa managed 164/6 in response.
Jabalpur's innings began shakily, losing both openers before reaching 20 runs. A crucial 51-run partnership between Siddharth Patidar and Abhishek Bhandari steadied the innings. Patidar contributed 51 runs from 36 deliveries. At the start of the 17th over, Jabalpur were struggling at 116/6, requiring a substantial finish.
Hrithik Tada and Sanjog provided the necessary impetus in the final four overs. Tada remained unbeaten on 45 from 22 balls, striking four boundaries and three sixes. Sanjog's unbeaten 36 from 14 deliveries included three fours and three sixes, helping reach the final total.
Rewa's chase began promisingly with a 46-run opening stand. However, the required run rate gradually mounted. Prithviraj Singh Tomar's innings lost momentum after a bright start of 42 runs from 24 balls, eventually finishing with 52 from 41 deliveries. Mukul Raghav's valiant effort of 42 not out from 28 balls proved insufficient.
Saransh Surana excelled with the ball for Rewa, claiming four wickets, but failed to contribute with the bat. Jabalpur's left-arm quick Pankaj Patel played a decisive role, securing four wickets to ensure victory for his side.
