‘Mega PTM 2.0' to be held across state on July 10

Vijayawada: The department of school education on Tuesday issued orders to conduct the 'Mega PTM 2.0' programme across all government, private aided, unaided schools and junior colleges in the state on July 10. As per the directions, necessary preparatory steps should be taken to ensure the success of this program. Samagra Shiksha state project director B Srinivasa Rao, issued operational guidelines to additional district project coordinators of Samagra Shiksha, district education officers, regional joint directors and district collectors regarding the implementation of the programme. He requested RJDs to coordinate with DEOs, APCs, and mandal educational officers (MEOs) within their jurisdiction and ensure close monitoring. He clarified that the Mega PTM, earlier scheduled for July 5, will now be conducted on July 10. On this occasion, director of school education Vijay Rama Raju V and Samagra Shiksha SPD B Srinivasa Rao, addressed RJDs, DEOs, APCs and other officers via video conference and gave necessary instructions. They said the Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) serves as a key platform to strengthen the bond between parents, teachers, and schools and PTMs help parents understand their child's academic progress, behavior, and social challenges, while also allowing teachers to seek their cooperation for the child's benefit. As per the orders, the Mega PTM 2.0 will be held in 61,135 educational institutions, with an expected participation of 2,28,21,454 people, including 74,96,228 students, 3,32,770 teachers and 1,49,92,456 parents, donors and others. Teachers will provide Holistic Progress Cards to parents, helping them understand their child's academic development. Under the supervision of the headmaster, an open meeting will be conducted to present school performance, infrastructure gaps and future action plans.

Vijayawada: Asper the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, Section 12(1)(c), 25 per cent seats in private unaided schools are reserved for free admissions to children from disadvantaged and weaker sections. For the academic year 2025-26, as part of the second phase lottery results, 8,583 students have been selected for free admissions in private schools, stated B Srinivasa Rao, State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha. The parents or guardians of the allotted students must visit the respective schools along with necessary verification documents to confirm the admissions from June 21 to 28. However, in view of requests from parents and officials, the deadline has now been extended till July 2, 2025 for admission confirmation. The details of selected students have been sent via SMS to the registered mobile numbers of parents and are also available on the official website: For further information, the toll-free number 1800 425 8599 can be contacted. Project Director Srinivasa Rao has made it clear that admissions must not be denied by the managements. He said all concerned private school managements are instructed to verify the submitted documents and confirm the admissions accordingly. Denial of admission without valid reason will invite departmental action. These admissions will be confirmed through logins specially assigned to the Additional Project Coordinators (APCs) of Samagra Shiksha at the district level. In case of any queries, school managements may contact the respective MEOs, DEOs or RJDs.

Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh education department is planning a statewide mega parent-teacher meeting on July 5. According to officials, the PTM will serve as a platform to strengthen the bond between parents, teachers, and schools. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The event is expected to draw over 2 crore participants, including nearly 75 lakh students, 3.32 lakh teachers, and 1.49 crore parents, donors, and other stakeholders across more than 61,000 educational institutions. When a similar Mega PTM was held in Dec 2024 for the last academic year, 25.46 lakh parents, 27,395 alumni, 22,200 donors, and 36,918 public representatives participated across 44,956 schools. In addition to the regular parent-teacher-student interactions, local MLAs, ministers, and district collectors visited several schools during the event. They engaged with parents, teachers, and students to inspire pupils towards achieving excellence. Schools, decorated for the occasion, hosted a range of activities that brought joy and excitement to students. On the strength of last year's success, the education department is planning to expand the reach of this year's PTM. Samagra Shiksha state project director, B Srinivasa Rao, said that the state govt is undertaking this initiative to ensure quality education for all children and to promote holistic development across the state. "This goal can be achieved through a strong partnership between the school education department and the wider community. The role of parents is particularly crucial in the context of the RTE Act and the NEP, 2020, both of which emphasise public participation in educational progress," said Rao. "PTMs help parents understand their children's academic progress, behaviour, and social issues, while also enabling teachers to seek parents' cooperation for the benefit of students. To promote this collaborative effort, the govt has decided to organise mega PTM as celebratory events across all govt and private schools on the same day,"Rao added.

Vijayawada: It was a day of joyful unity and healthy activity for lakhs of schoolchildren across the state as they en-thusiastically celebrated International Yoga Day on Saturday. Schools buzzed with excitement from as early as 6 am, with students and teachers gathering to participate in various yoga sessions. Teachers took the opportunity to explain the importance of yoga for physical and mental well-being to the eager young participants. Following the yoga sessions, schools provided breakfast to the children before they joined the state-wide 'Yogandhra' programme. For this special occasion, school hours were adjusted from 6 am to 12 pm. The school Education department successfully organised Yogandhra across 61,266 government, private, and aided schools, witnessing the participation of nearly 60 lakh individuals, including students, teach-ers, school staff, School Management Committee (SMC) members, and parents. This massive event, with yoga performances by millions, marked a historic achievement for the state. B Srinivasa Rao, state project director of Samagra Shiksha, highlighted the significance of the event, stating that the mass participation across thousands of schools reflected the deep commitment of the education ecosystem to holistic student well-being. Director of school education V Vijay Ramaraju thanked everyone who contributed to the successful exe-cution of Yogandhra over the past month and ensured the grand observance of International Yoga Day. He specifically commended the dedicated efforts of nodal officers, department HoDs, RJDs, DEOs, APCs, MEOs, headmasters, teachers, physical education instructors, voluntary organisations, SMC, and PTA members, and parents, whose collective support made the initiative a resounding success.
