Texas A&M football's 2026 prospects rank as one of nation's top recruiting classes
After landing another massive commitment from four-star EDGE Bryce Perry-Wright, Texas A&M's 2026 class ranks No. 3, according to On3 Sports/Rivals Team Recruiting Rankings. Head coach Mike Elko has been busy this summer on the recruiting trail, landing commitments from five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington and 19 total four-star prospects. The 2026 Aggie prospects also rank as the second-best class in the Southeastern Conference behind the Georgia Bulldogs. Perry-Wright's announcement on Saturday, July 5, helped boost the Aggies' recruiting rankings among most media outlets. June was an outstanding month, with numerous top-rated recruits, including Arrington, running back KJ Edwards, EDGE Tristen Givens, IOL Samuel Roseborough, and many more, committing to Texas A&M. The month of July looks to be more of the same, with many more talented prospects placing College Station as one of their top destinations. If Elko keeps this momentum going, Aggieland could soon become where the No. 1 recruiting class for 2026 resides. The last time that the program landed the top-ranked recruiting class was in 2022 under former head coach Jimbo Fisher. Elko's outstanding job at making genuine connections is a massive reason why the program is flourishing in recruiting. His style of play on the field brings excitement and opportunity for players to make their mark in the Maroon and White, but his ability to be personable with the student-athletes is just as important. One of the most integral factors in Edwards' decision to commit to Texas A&M was Elko and company presenting him with the ultimate hospitality, as they surprised one of the nation's top running backs with family members during his official visit in June. "So when we came down this weekend, it was originally supposed to be me, mom, dad, my sister, my younger brother and my auntie," Edwards said. "Once we got out there, coach Trooper and coach Elko surprised us with my grandparents. They had reached out to them, and we didn't know anything about it, so when we saw them, we were surprised." It doesn't get much better than that. The way that Elko recruits has earned him national recognition as one of the top recruiters in the country this offseason, as he continues to raise the bar for Texas A&M moving forward. June was an incredible month for the Aggies and July is shaping up to be even bigger. Aggie fans and media react to commitment from five-star DL Bryce Perry-Wright
There's something to be said for quality over quantity in many aspects of life—however, when you can have both, that's a major win. This rings true for Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class, led by commander-in-chief Mike Elko. With the house settlement providing a framework for the school to work from, all eyes have turned to the recruiting trail. While major speculation suggests athletes are chasing money, there's some truth to NIL playing a significant role. Still, a recurring theme from Aggie recruits has been the staff's success in building genuine relationships—not just with the athletes, but with their families, too. So it's no surprise that A&M landed its third five-star recruit from the 2026 class. On Sunday evening, Bryce Perry-Wright, one of Georgia's top edge rushers, announced his commitment live on YouTube, declaring that he'll start his college career at Texas A&M. College football fans flocked to social media to react to the news. 2026 5-star DL commits to Texas A&M over Clemson and Texas
Texas A&M's future defensive line will now feature one of the more elite pass rushers in the 2026 class, as five-star DL Bryce Perry-Wright committed to the Aggies over Miami, Clemson, and the Texas Longhorns on Saturday afternoon. Wright is now the fifth defensive lineman/edge to commit to A&M's 2026 cycle, and, outside of fellow five-star DL Lamar Brown, is the most versatile defender in the class. Texas A&M was not the favorite early last month, but after his official visit to College Station, coach Mike Elko and defensive line coaches Sean Spencer and Tony Jerod-Eddie gained significant ground with the standout pass rusher, developing a tight bond based on trust and a clear development plan once he enters the program. On the field, Perry-Wright broke out during his 2024 junior season, recording 57 tackles (13 for loss) and nine sacks, which helped lead his team to the playoff semifinals and earned him a spot in the Navy All-American Bowl. Wright may lack elite measurements, but he plays with consistent energy with a game-wrecker mentality that has been comparable to Chicago Bears defensive lineman Grady Jarrett. With the Aggies, Wright is expected to play defensive end, similar to one-year rental Nic Scourton, who thrived during the first part of the 2024 season. According to 247Sports, Bryce Perry-Wright is currently positioned as the 32nd-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 2nd-ranked defensive lineman, and the 5th-ranked prospect in Georgia. Update on top Clemson target, 5-star EDGE recruit Bryce Perry-Wright commitment decision
A big decision from a prized five-star recruit in the 2026 recruiting class has the Clemson Tigers and other schools playing the waiting game. Five-star EDGE Bryce Perry-Wright is set to announce his commitment Saturday at 5 p.m. ET. A 6-foot-2, 250-pound defensive lineman out of Buford High School in Georgia, Perry-Wright has long been viewed as a favorite to sign with Clemson. But a late push from Texas A&M and second-year coach Mike Elko this week has added some last-minute drama and could throw a wrench into the Tigers' hopes. On Wednesday, On3/Rivals recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction that the Peach State star would sign with Texas A&M. On Friday, though, Rivals' Texas-based recruiting analyst Cody Carpentier gave a different projection. In his updated "FUTURECAST" outlook, Carpentier has Perry-Wright committing to Clemson. The Texas Longhorns and Clemson's ACC rival Miami Hurricanes are also in the mix for Perry-Wright, who ranks as the No. 32 overall recruit in 247Sports' 2026 recruiting class rankings. He is the nation's No. 2 defensive lineman in 247Sports' rankings, while On3 ranks him the No. 5 lineman and No. 33 overall recruit. Perry-Wright is the No. 5 overall player in the state of Georgia, per 247Sports, which gave him a crystal ball projection to commit to Clemson back on May 29 before Texas A&M began making its push. Perry-Wright's commitment ceremony will be streamed live on CBS Sports HQ and YouTube Saturday. Clemson football recruiting 2026 Clemson added five recruits to its 2026 class in the month of June: four-star defensive lineman Keshawn Stancil (Clayton, North Carolina), four-star EDGE Dre Quinn (Buford, Georgia), three-star defensive lineman JR Hardrick (South Pittsburg, Tennessee), and four-star offensive linemen Leo Delaney and Carter Scruggs. On3 and 247Sports both rank Clemson's 2026 recruiting class in the top 10, at No. 9 and 10, respectively. At last update, ESPN ranked the Tigers with the nation's No. 6 overall class with 11 ESPN 300 recruits. Clemson football 2026 recruiting class commitments Clemson has 20 total commitments in its 2026 recruiting class as of Friday, July 4. 2026 5-star Edge announcement details revealed for Saturday, July 5
Texas A&M coach Mike Elko and his staff are on the precipice of landing 2026 five-star defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright, who is set to make his announcement on Saturday afternoon. On Wednesday, Rivals recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong placed his prediction that the Aggies will land the standout pass rusher, who will choose between Clemson, Miami, Texas, and A&M. On Thursday, Perry-Wright's announcement plans for Saturday afternoon were revealed. They will take place live on 247Sports' YouTube channel at 4 p.m. CT, providing every fanbase the opportunity to watch the elite prospect make what has been deemed a close decision, even though the Aggies are the late favorites. Again, Texas A&M being in the mix for nearly every elite defensive lineman and edge prospect in the 2026 cycle is not surprising, given the program's success this summer, which began and ended with the staff's ability to build a strong, lasting relationship-based culture and a clear development plan for every recruit. The same goes for Perry-Wright, who, despite being slightly undersized, is regarded as one of the top pass rushers who will likely be a defensive end at the next level. On the field, Perry-Wright broke out during his 2024 junior season, recording 57 tackles (13 for loss) and nine sacks, which helped lead his team to the playoff semifinals and earned him a spot in the Navy All-American Bowl. According to 247Sports, Bryce Perry-Wright is currently positioned as the 32nd-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 2nd-ranked defensive lineman, and the 5th-ranked prospect in Georgia.
