Sky's new Glass TV upgrade now available to buy for much cheaper price
The Sky Glass Air smart TV is now available to buy in the UK, with shoppers able to get their hands on the sleek smart TV with Sky built in from £6 per month Sky has launched a brand-new model of its TV lineup as the Sky Glass Air hits the shelves. Announced earlier this month, it's the latest version of Sky's own smart TV with Sky and streaming apps built in. With prices starting at £6 per month, the Sky Glass Air is designed as a slimmer and more affordable version of the Sky Glass Gen 2, which starts at £14. But despite its cheaper price, the Air still boasts a 'vibrant' 4K HDR Quantum Dot screen and Dolby Audio speaker system. Other key features include hands-free voice control, intelligent and personalised recommendations and an easy plug-in-and-play setup. Sky Glass delivers TV and streaming services through WiFi, eliminating the need for a satellite dish or Sky box. Announcing the new TV, Carli Kerr, MD of Sky TV and NOW, said: 'With Sky Glass Air, we're bringing the Sky experience to more people through a beautifully designed TV with stunning picture quality from £6 a month. It's all about giving people better for less: more choice, great tech and the content they love, without compromising on quality.' Sky Glass Air is available for £6 when paired with a Sky TV package such as the £15 Essential TV bundle. As well as more than 100 channels, this includes free subscriptions to both Netflix and Discovery+, with Sky Cinema and Sky Sports available for £10 and £20 respectively. Shoppers can pick up the Sky Glass Air with its 'sleek design [and] slim frame' in three sizes, 43', 55' and 65'. There's also a choice of colours including Sea Green, Carbon Grey and Cotton White. For those preferring to buy their TV outright, the Sky Glass Air can be purchased for £309. Alternatively, Amazon has just cut £150 off its 43' Fire TV 4-Series, now £279.99, while Samsung is offering 10% off its higher-end QLED and Crystal UHD TVs, like this 50' QLED Q7F2 at £539.10. But for those sticking with the Sky Glass Air, the tech experts at What Hi-Fi, have given it a thumbs up in their early review. They said: 'Sky Glass Air seems pretty respectable for the price, with a detailed and colourful image that can deliver punch when required. 'The biggest draw is Sky OS and its long list of features. The ability to access shows and add them to a system-wide playlist regardless of the service they are hosted on remains a fan favourite, while the voice interaction system is robust.' However, they also noted a potential flaw in the sound, adding: 'It's a noticeable downgrade, with the TV delivering a thinner and less atmospheric sound overall, but it does a solid job of prioritising clear vocals. 'Overall, the Glass Air seems to make a strong case for itself, especially with the price in mind. It's a cheaper Sky Glass that retains the Sky experience at its core, and cuts back on a few of the more premium features offered by the Glass Gen 2.'

SKY is launching a brand new service from today, and it will set entertainment fans back by just £6. TV lovers can now get their hands on a brand new TV set for just 20p a day, as the broadcasting giant launches Sky Glass Air. Combined, for £21 per month, viewers are effectively paying less than 70p per day for the TV and service. Unlike Sky Q, which is currently being phased out, Sky Glass Air relies on internet connection to beam TV channels to your home, instead of a satellite dish. This means that installation for the new TV service will be simple, as you won't have to get an engineer to come round and start drilling through your walls. Sky Glass was launched back in 2019, but users were unimpressed with the thick built in Soundbar. The broadcaster hopes that the thinner soundbar on the Sky Glass Air will tempt more Sky Q users to make the switch. The new TV, which goes on sale today, June 10, comes in three colours - Sea Green, Carbon Grey, and Cotton White. The amount you're charged depends on: How long is left of your minimum term from the date your subscriptions end, calculated in days The days you have already been billed for in advance The products you subscribe to, the price you pay for them and when your subscriptions end For Sky TV, early termination charges range from £14.00 to £42.89 per month, depending on the specific package. For instance, if you cancel a standard Sky TV package priced at £33.82 per month with 12 months remaining on a 24-month contract, you would be required to pay the remaining 12 months' fees in one lump sum. This would result in a total early termination fee of £405.84. Entertainment fans can also upgrade to to Sky Ultimate TV for an extra £7 per month, which gives viewers access to Sky Max, Sky Comedy, Sky Documentaries, Sky Crime, Sky History, Sky Showcase and more. Sky revealed that 90% of new users opt for Sky Glass or Sky Stream, but it is struggling to win over Sky Q fans. Paolo Pescatore, an expert for PP Foresight, told The Sun: "The majority of its existing subscribers are still on the tried and trusted Sky Q platform which relies on a satellite dish. "Converting this base is taking the company much longer than it originally expected." One thing that Sky Q customers are not convinced by is the way recordings work, as Sky Glass Air saves everything to the cloud, meaning you can't rely on recordings during rare TV outages. However the expert added that the new affordable model should "strongly resonate with customers".
