Teacher Hiring Scam: Finally, New Deputy Director of Education to Take Charge in Nagpur

Nagpur: After a tumultuous three months due to the teacher hiring scam in the education department, Nagpur division is all set to get a new deputy director of education (DDE) from next week. Sources told TOI that a female official from Pune is being transferred here to take charge and steady the ship. The teacher hiring scam hogged headlines after a 'painter' from Bhandara filed a complaint in April with cops based on information he overheard, something which the family of former Nagpur DDE Ulhas Narad has questioned. Narad was arrested based on the complaint filed by one Munna Waghmare, who said he overheard teachers talking about the illegal appointment of one Parag Pudke in the school where he worked as a painter. Narad's nephew Rohan Satone said, "Somehow this painter in the far-flung taluka of Lakhani (Bhandara) overhears sensitive information being discussed openly, and knows exactly which police station to come and register a complaint. And the cops get into action and arrest Narad as well as Pudke. But, surprisingly, the cops took no action on the FIR registered a month earlier in March itself at the insistence of Narad that login ID and passwords from their office were misused. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch xu hướng AUD/USD? "So, if Narad had already terminated Pudke's service in July, why was the complaint filed after nine months?" said Satone. Now, the state govt has set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the scam. Many arrests have been made, including that of a senior official from Nagpur divisional board, who at one time led the team which conducted an internal inquiry into the teacher hiring scam. The cops are also questioning school management members for their role in the entire scam. Former MLC Nago Ganar (who represented teachers' constituency) has alleged that this scam's reach spreads across the state. He has demanded a statewide probe as it may have cost the exchequer thousands of crores.

Plus One seat shortage: KSU activists picket DDE's office in Kozhikode

Activists of the Kerala Students Union (KSU) on Wednesday picketed the office of the Deputy Director of Education (DDE), Kozhikode, seeking more Plus One batches for north Kerala districts. The activists alleged that even after the completion of three rounds of allotment for admissions, 35% of applicants had not been allotted merit seats in these districts. When V.T. Sooraj, KSU Kozhikode district president, and others reached the office at around 10 a.m., the police blocked them outside the gate. The activists then staged a sit-in protest there. The police subsequently tried to take them into custody. However, some of the activists broke off the police cordon and barged into the DDE office. Later, the police detained all of them.
