Prevent disease outbreak, Andhra Pradesh CM Naidu directs officials
VIJAYAWADA: With the onset of monsoon, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu stressed the need to prevent disease outbreak, directing officials to ensure effective drainage, clean surroundings, and safe drinking water. On Saturday, he held a comprehensive review with senior officials from the Municipal Administration and Finance Departments. The meeting focused on solid waste management, infrastructure creation, and the progress of initiatives under the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA). Highlighting women's empowerment, Naidu directed MEPMA officials to enhance product quality through continuous training for self-help groups (SHGs) and to promote DWCRA (Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas) products via e-commerce. He urged the creation of systems for municipalities and corporations to generate their own electricity for street lighting, alongside efforts to conserve energy and improve air quality. Expressing concern over poultry waste being dumped in urban areas, he called for a special policy and advocated circular economy practices in waste disposal. Naidu called for the swift completion of sewage treatment plants (STPs) and the elimination of legacy waste, while establishing systems for regular garbage collection.

₹2,014-crore worth of development works sanctioned within a year in Kurnool: Nimmala Ramanaidu
Minister for Water Resources Nimmala Ramanaidu on Wednesday said that the coalition government has sanctioned ₹2,014-crore worth of development works in Kurnool district within a year of coming to power. Addressing a public meeting at Tadakanapalle village of Kallur mandal, the Minister said that as many as 2,294 works were being approved under this funding. Earlier, he inaugurated CC roads, laid at ₹6.78 crore, in Tadakanapalle, and a BT road from Kurnool to Doddipadu via Anugonda, built at ₹1.41 crore. The Minister said that the women groups of Kurnool district were actively involved in various empowerment schemes, and called it a 'matter of pride for the nation.' He reiterated that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was a visionary who heralded true meaning to women empowerment in the State. Mr. Ramanaidu then highlighted the difference between the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) regime and the present NDA rule in the State. He recalled that it was the Chandrababu Naidu-led government that had increased the pensions to ₹2,000 in 2014. However, the government under Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy took five years to offer a hike of ₹1,000. He credited the Chief Minister for introducing landmark welfare schemes like Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas (DWCRA) and the 'Deepam' scheme. The Minister said that 563 hectares of drip irrigation projects had already been completed in the district. He added that the State government was committed to the early completion of the ₹80,000-crore Polavaram-Banakacherla project. Kurnool MP B. Nagaraju, Panyam MLA G. Charitha Reddy, and District Collector P. Ranjith Basha were also present.

Task DWCRA groups with converting wet garbage into compost, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Naidu tells officials
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to speed up preparation of the action plan on effective waste management in order to keep the villages clean, and to assign the responsibility of converting wet garbage into compost on-site to the DWCRA (Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas) groups. Addressing a review meeting on circular economy at the Secretariat on Thursday, Mr. Naidu said waste should be collected from houses daily, and steps taken for converting wet waste into compost, and handing over the dry waste to agencies for disposal. He also ordered the officials to set up 52 clusters across the State (two per district) for grading of waste, and not to let the dumping of waste on road margins. The entire system of waste disposal should be streamlined by October 2, the Chief Minister told the officials, and to present awards to Gram Panchayats and individuals performing well in waste management on the given date. The Panchayati Raj Department, Swachha Andhra Corporation and AP Pollution Control Board should make concerted efforts to achieve the desired results, he said. Circular Economy Policy Mr. Naidu wanted studies to be conducted on how waste generated in agriculture and allied sectors could contribute to the circular economy, and a Circular Economy Policy to be drafted on the basis of the Rajasthan model. Also, he stressed the need to expedite the construction of the waste-to-energy plants coming up in Nellore, Rajahmundry, Kadapa and Kurnool.
