Thanks To Google, Harry Potter Fans Get First Look At HBO Series Set
Last Updated: Warner Bros. has built the entire Privet Drive for the upcoming Harry Potter series. In today's world, where technology has the power to connect every nook and corner of the world, nothing can be truly kept hidden for long, especially when it comes to something as popular as Harry Potter. With the new series in the making, fans have now found a surprise on the internet. They got a sneak peek at the filming location of the upcoming show, thanks to Google Earth. Google Earth Discovery A Reddit user shared a cool discovery on the subreddit dedicated to the upcoming HBO show. Using Google Earth's historical imagery feature, the fan was able to see the newly built Privet Drive set at the Warner Bros. studio in Leavesden, Watford. Privet Drive is going to play a crucial role in the show's early episodes as it is the exact place where Harry Potter grew up with the Dursleys before he headed to Hogwarts. In the original movies, the Dursley house was a real home in Surrey. This time, the makers took things a notch higher by developing an entire street just for the show. Harry Potter Series Is In Production Based on the books by JK Rowling, the upcoming television show is expected to premiere in 2027, with new seasons releasing through 2037. Just a few days back, the makers of the new series announced that production has begun. It comes nearly 24 years after the release of the first movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Sharing a picture of young Harry with a clapboard on Instagram on July 14, HBO Max wrote, 'First years, step forward. The HBO Original Harry Potter series is now in production." A few differences from the films have already been spotted. It might feel like only yesterday that the Harry Potter films were released in cinema, but a reboot is already on the way. After the big casting announcements, production has begun on HBO's adaptation of the beloved children's books. Filming has started and pictures from the set have begun to emerge. Hungry fans looking for any details might have spotted some of the changes - including a shift in time period. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad But what other differences to the films have been noticed so far? Here's all you need to know: Harry Potter TV show looks to be a period piece HBO main cast for Harry Potter TV show - (L-R) Arabella Stanton, Dominic McLaughlin and Alastair Stout | HBO The books were set between 1991 and 1998, however the films did not particularly channel the 90s aesthetic. Released between 2001 and 2011, the scenes set outside Hogwarts look more like the 2000s than the previous decade - Harry wearing a hoody in 2007's Order of the Phoenix for example. Early set pictures from the upcoming TV show seem to be channelling the 1990s much more. Period appropriate cars have been spotted as well, while the costumes snapped so far definitely feel more 90s appropriate. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Dursleys have had a redesign The first official set photos included Dominic McLaughlin in costume as Harry Potter as well as Nick Frost dressed as Rubius Hagrid. Both character designs looked extremely similar to their movie counterparts - give or take. However, the Dursleys on the other hand seem to have had a dramatic redesign for the show. Given it appears to be set in the 1990s, early set pictures show the new actors in costumes inspired by the fashion of the era. In the original films, the Dursleys had a more classic 'Middle England' look to them. But now Dudley is dressed in a shell suit, while Pertunia has a Princess Di-esque blonde hair-do. Cut characters have been added for season one The original film is a mostly faithful adaptation of the book, but some minor characters were missing back in 2001. For example Dudley's friend Piers Polkiss - who has been added back in for the new TV series. Hogwarts outfit has been tweaked Scottish actor Dominic McLaughlin has been cast as Harry Potter. | Aidan Monaghan/HBO The costume for Harry Potter does look mostly on a par with the character's original cinematic outing. But there are some subtle changes, at least in the first image of Dominic McLaughlin released by HBO. In the photo, Harry's griffindor tie has been slightly tweaked and has a subtler hue of yellow compared to the original films which was more evenly split between red and yellow. The jumper is also a darker colour in the initial set picture, compared with the grey used for the movies. Obviously the show is still in production so the costuming could change between now and when it begins in 2027. Are you planning to watch the Harry Potter TV series? Let me know by email: . HBO's HARRY POTTER Series Casts Bel Powley and Daniel Rigby as the Dreaded Dursleys — GeekTyrant
The Dursleys have been cast in the new live-aciton Harry Potter series and they're bringing their signature brand of magical denial and emotional repression. Variety reports that Bel Powley and Daniel Rigby have been cast as Petunia and Vernon Dursley in HBO's Harry Potter series, offering a fresh take on one of the wizarding world's most dysfunctional Muggle households. Fans of the franchise know the Dursleys all too well: Petunia is Harry's bitter aunt and the estranged sister of his late mother, Lily. Vernon, her equally unpleasant husband, is the kind of man who prides himself on his normality and has an allergic reaction to anything that might seem remotely unusual, including magic. Together, they raise Harry in a cupboard and treat him more like a stray dog than a child. In the original film adaptations, Fiona Shaw and Richard Griffiths played the roles with a delicious mix of comedy and cruelty. Bel Powley is best known for roles in The Diary of a Teenage Girl , White Boy Rick , and Apple TV+'s The Morning Show . Her TV work has recently included Masters of the Air and A Small Light . Daniel Rigby, who nabbed a BAFTA TV Award for Eric and Ernie , will tackle the gruff and huffy Vernon. His recent work includes Renegade Nell , and Tom Jones , and he's also set to appear in Amazon's upcoming Blade Runner 2099 . Still to be cast is Dudley, their overindulged son and professional pudding-eater. This news follows previous casting reveals, including Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione, and Alastair Stout as Ron. The ever-growing ensemble also features John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Snape, Nick Frost as Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as Filch. HBO promises a 'faithful adaptation' of J.K. Rowling's beloved novels. According to the official logline, the series will be 'exploring every corner of the wizarding world,' with each season delivering the full Harry Potter story to 'new and existing audiences.' Francesca Gardiner ( Succession, His Dark Materials ) is writing and executive producing the series, and will also serve as showrunner. Director Mark Mylod ( Game of Thrones, The Menu ) will helm several episodes and executive produce.

Modest townhouse home to unexpected Harry Potter magic inside
Tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac, a three-storey pebbledash townhouse blends seamlessly with its neighbours - but once you step inside, it's obvious it's a world apart. As you open the door to the light-filled hallway, you're welcomed by a duplicate of the iconic Platform 9 3⁄4, devised by JK Rowling in her phenomenally successful Harry Potter series. The tale of the young wizard unfolded over seven books, which were subsequently adapted into eight blockbuster films at Leavesden Studios in London. After the film production wrapped up, a studio tour was launched, offering fans an insider's view into the making of the movies, complete with detailed sets and original props. To celebrate my niece's 10th birthday, we organised a surprise trip to London to experience the tour and let her live out all her Hufflepuff fantasies. My sister-in-law discovered The Wizarding House on Airbnb, a townhouse that has been meticulously transformed into a stylish and chic homage to all things Harry Potter. The faux Platform 9 3⁄4 in the entrance is just the beginning, and it sets the scene perfectly. It even features suitcases vanishing halfway through the wall as though they're journeying into the magical wizarding world. The ground floor houses a spacious kitchen-diner. With its soothing grey floor tiles, light grey cupboards and a blue kitchen island, the references to the beloved franchise are more understated here, but no less impactful. A hefty wooden table seating eight is flanked by fabric banners representing the Hogwarts Houses, as well as a large framed print of the iconic school. A model of the Hogwarts Express - the red and black locomotive that transports students to their lessons in the colossal castle - is displayed in a glass case. Underneath the staircase, there's a cupboard which flawlessly replicates Harry Potter's pitiful excuse for a bedroom during his time with his heartless aunt and uncle, the Dursleys. It even features potion books and Harry's miniature army figures. The meticulous attention to detail is striking - the melamine cups are colour-coded to match the Hogwarts houses of Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin - and even the plates and utensils storage jar bear Harry Potter themes. French doors open onto a spacious, tranquil garden rounding off the ground floor. Ascending upstairs, the corridor is decked out with paintings, wands and signs evoking the revered corridors of Hogwarts. On the first floor lies the living room, modelled after Sirius Black's ancestral home at 12 Grimmauld Place, complete with a wallpaper replica of the Black family tree tapestry - right down to certain members' faces being blotted out in black. There's a large, snug corner sofa, spellbooks, Lego models and more to thrill any Harry Potter enthusiast. The bedroom on this level is styled in the vein of Slytherin - think moody black and dark green hues with plenty of references to the serpent. The top floor boasts two more bedrooms - one inspired by Gryffindor and the other by the 'avis' spell which summons birds - both of which are utterly enchanting. The Gryffindor room is filled with a collection of wands and numerous props that pay homage to the magical universe. The shower room on this level is designed in the style of the Ministry of Magic, featuring forest green tiles with black grout, and an abundance of 'wanted' posters. We were absolutely amazed by the meticulous attention to detail in the décor and styling - especially my niece, who was completely captivated by every single element and twist. I don't think I've ever seen her quite so excited. The hosts even organised balloons and a message mimicking the Hogwarts acceptance letter to welcome her to the property, a truly thoughtful, sweet gesture that enhanced her experience. The Airbnb is just a 15-minute stroll from the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in Leavesden, making it ideally located for those eager to have a home away from home while completing the tour. I'd certainly recommend booking for the Harry Potter enthusiasts in your life.
