By the end of the year, the pair were reportedly spotted ringing in New Year 's Eve together. ‌ Things only escalated from there, as Maya was seen attending one of Ruben's football matches in Portugal in March 2025. A month later, the pair were photographed kissing and cuddling at KSI's Baller League football event at London's Copper Box Arena - and it was only just getting started. According to reports, the relationship has become more serious in recent weeks. Maya is said to have introduced Ruben to her mum, Bernadette, and has been making an effort to learn her partner's native language by taking Portuguese lessons. However, they broke up again for good last summer, citing differences in what they wanted from their lives and for the future. In an interview with the Evening Standard last November, which is around the time she met Ruben, Maya opened up about what she is currently looking for from a relationship. She shared: "'I am so happy right now but the next person I meet I want to marry and have kids with, so obviously I'm feeling fussy. "I've created such a nice life for myself alone and I don't want anyone who's not going to add to that. I'm in this lovely bubble and I don't want you unless you make me happy. If you're not, I kind of don't need you." Maya had quite the weekend, jetting to America after seeing Iga Swiatek make history with her 6-0, 6-0 demolition of Amanda Anisimova in 57 minutes at Wimbledon. Ruben has a few more weeks before he is due to return to pre-season, with City having a very different summer having participated in the FIFA Club World Cup. They can unwind with the squad not reporting for duty until the end of July as they gear up for the Premier League season.

Rita Ora admits she 'still feels Liam Payne' months after star's tragic death

Rita Ora said she keeps Liam Payne's memory alive through music - especially their song For You - as she described the late singer as 'a really great friend' of hers Rita Ora has said she "still feels" Liam Payne nine months after the One Direction star tragically died in Argentina. The 34-year-old singer said Liam was "a really great friend" of hers, and added she now always sings their song For You "all the time" which helps her keep his memory alive. Rita addressed her friendship with the late singer during an appearance on Elvis Duran and the Morning Show. ‌ In her interview, she was asked whether she will watch Building the Band, a new Netflix show - Liam's final project - which wrapped filming shortly before he passed away. The first four episodes premiered on Netflix on July 9, with three more episodes due to drop next week. ‌ The final three episodes will hit the streamer on July 23. Elvis, hosting the iHeart Radio show, asked Rita if she is planning to watch the show, to which she replied: "I 100% will watch it." She then shared some details on her friendship with Liam, saying: "That's a really great friend of mine. I still sort of feel him anyway, so it's fine." She then added: "I have the last song that I think we did together as a duo and I sing it all the time. And it just feels like he's just right there. And we always do a cute little moment of a photo of him and it feels fantastic to just feel like he's still around through music." ‌ Rita said: "That's why music is so powerful. It really does bring back a person, a memory, a feeling." She continued: "So yeah, I have this incredible memory with him, with For You, our song together, and I'll always have that." One month after Liam's death, Rita hosted the MTV EMA and paid a special tribute to her friend. Fighting back tears, she emotionally said to the cameras: "I just want to take a moment to remember someone that was very, very dear to us. ‌ "We lost him recently, and he was a big part of the MTV world and my world, and I think a lot of yours at home and everybody in here tonight. Liam Payne was one of the kindest people that I knew. "And, you know, there were so many ways that we were talking about honouring him, and I think sometimes just simply speaking is enough." Dressed in a dark suit, in a poignant moment that contrasted the rest of the upbeat night, Rita continued: "He had the biggest heart, he was always the first person to offer help in any way that he could. He put so much joy into every room he walked in. And he left such a mark on this world. So let's just take a moment to remember our friend." Prior to Rita hosting the EMAs, a source told The Sun that the British singer would want to be involved in MTV's plans to commemorate Liam on the show. Touching on their friendship, they said: "She and Liam have been close for years and grew in the industry together. Obviously, she is devastated by his passing."

Inside Maya Jama and Ruben Dias' romantic holiday as they share loved-up snaps

In true Maya Jama form, she appears to have casually confirmed her romance with boyfriend Ruben Dias after months of speculation while reclining on a yacht off the Amalfi Coast. Since the Love Island host, 30, and the Manchester City centre-back, 28, were spotted celebrating New Year's Eve together, there's been blurry evidence of their blossoming romance, but nothing from the horse's mouth – until now. Confirming their romance, Maya shared a selection of snaps of a romantic boat trip with her new beau. Hidden away at the end of a carousel of images posted on Instagram, one snap showed the couple cosied up together and smiling at one another as they perched at the edge of a yacht. Fans loved this hard launch, which came just a few days after Maya shared brief snaps of Ruben on her Instagram story. Other images also showed the lavish spread of food they enjoyed, and Maya also shared a video of herself diving off the boat into the sparkling sea. Just days before the post from Maya, she shared a video of herself and Ruben enjoying some alone time near the romantic seaside town of Positano in Italy. The TV personality filmed Ruben rubbing suncream into his shoulders with the caption, 'Perve cam,' seemingly confirming months of speculation about their relationship. They looked to have a relaxed time on the private boat, bobbing off the coast, as Maya soaked in the rays and lip-synced songs on her Instagram Story. Ruben Dias is a Portuguese professional footballer, who plays centre-back for Manchester City and for his home country's national team. He is regarded as one of the world's best defenders, having signed to Man City in 2020 for a reported €68 million (£57m). Ruben was in a relationship with Portuguese singer-songwriter April Ivy from 2018 to 2021. He has also been linked to Love Island star Arabella Chi. Maya and Ruben are thought to have first met at the European Music Awards (EMAs) in November, after which they followed each other on social media. Following their New Year's Eve rendezvous, Maya flew to Portugal to support Ruben at a football march in March, and the following month shewas spotted at his Wembley Stadium game. On April 28 suspicions were confirmed when footage emerged from The Sun, showing the couple kissing and hugging while attending YouTube personality KSI's Baller League football event at Copper Box Arena. Speaking about what she wants in a relationship these days, Maya revealed in an interview with the Standard in November 2024 that she's on the hunt for true love. 'I am so happy right now but the next person I meet I want to marry and have kids with, so obviously I'm feeling fussy. I've created such a nice life for myself alone and I don't want anyone who's not going to add to that'. She continued: 'I'm in this lovely bubble and I don't want you unless you make me happy. If you're not, I kind of don't need you.' Maya and Hide and Seek hitmaker Stormzy, 30, first met in October 2014 and began dating the following January. In 2020, they went their separate ways four years after officially becoming an item. In an interview with Louis Theroux on October 22, 2022, the Big For Your Boots rapper described the break-up as his 'biggest mistake' and the following month reunion rumours were shot down by Maya's team. He explained: 'My break-up, that was probably the biggest catalyst for growth as a man. It was like, OK, you made a mistake and you lose someone you loved, someone you cared for, someone who is special to you.' Speaking about the early days of their romance in January, Maya shared with The Sunday Times: 'We were so young when we met, just beginning our careers. I was starting at MTV. He'd not even released a single at that point. We were just little babies. That summer Maya and Stormzy were spotted chatting backstage at London's All Points East, where Stormzy was performing a headline set. After a few cryptic Instagram posts, they seemed to confirm their romance in various outings looking cosy, but the following July they shared a shock joint statement. More Trending Explaining their relationship 'didn't work,' they wrote: 'We still think the absolute world of each other, we still care and respect each other, we are still grateful for the time we've had together, and we are still friends and will always be friends.' A source told Mail Online of their split: 'Maya and Stormzy are very much on different pages when it comes to their future. 'Stormzy was keen to settle down, whereas Maya is enjoying her career, she's ambitious, and wants to prioritise achieving everything she possibly can. 'She also loves travelling and partying, at just 29 she's not ready for the next chapter just yet.' Got a story? New date for tsunami sirens test after they failed to go off in April

Christchurch's coastal tsunami warning sirens will be re-tested in July after the last planned test in April failed to go off. Forty-five sirens between Brooklands and Taylors Mistake will sound for up to three minutes at 11am on Sunday, July 13. Christchurch City Council civil defence and emergency management manager, Brenden Winder, said residents will hear a tone followed by a message: "This is a test of the tsunami warning sirens. Do not be alarmed. This is only a test." The new testing date has been set after the sirens failed to go off on April 6 due to human error. The scheduled testing of the 45 sirens between Brooklands and Taylors Mistake failed when the sole operator of the technology, based in Auckland, was dealing with a car accident outside their house at the time the sirens were scheduled to go off. There are now concerns the siren network is unfit for purpose as a primary emergency mechanism due to its age and outdated technology. The current multi-modal warning system incorporates emergency mobile alerts (EMAs), radio broadcasts, emergency services, traditional and social media, and sirens. There is a proposal to reduce the 45 sirens to about 10, located at specific points where the efficiency of alerting systems such as EMAs may be reduced. This will be discussed by the city council on June 10. Winder said it is important the sirens are re-tested to ensure they work effectively. "We recognise the critical importance of testing the tsunami sirens and acknowledge the confusion that the earlier failed test created,' he said. "We've had discussions with our supplier and we have sufficient safeguards in place to ensure this test will go ahead as planned. It is only a test and there is no need for anyone to evacuate.' Winder said reminders will also be put out closer to the testing date. In the event of a real immediate tsunami threat, Winder said Civil Defence and police will use the cellphone-based Emergency Mobile Alert system, radio, television, social media, sirens and local community networks to alert residents.
