Former teammate says Baker Mayfield is a Super Bowl quarterback

Baker Mayfield's career resurrection is fully underway and one of his former top targets thinks the next step could be coming soon. Ex-NFL wide receiver Robbie Chosen, who went by Robbie Anderson when he was catching passes from Mayfield with the Carolina Panthers, said he believes Mayfield has the stuff to win a Super Bowl before his career is finished. "He was only signed there for probably a week, and by Day 1 of training camp, he knew the whole offense," Chosen said in an appearance on NFL Network's Good Morning Football. "He has a strong arm. He has all levels of his game," Chosen said of Mayfield. "He knows how to get guys going. He plays with that energy and that chip on his shoulder. But definitely, I believe he's a Super Bowl quarterback." Mayfield had just a 2-10 record during the 2022 season he split with the Panthers and Los Angeles Rams, but his skills showed enough to earn a contract with the Tampa Bay Bucaneers ahead of the 2023 season, who tabbed him their starter almost immediately. He rewarded the Bucs with 28 touchdown passes against just 10 interceptions in helping Tampa Bay to a 9-8 record and earning a Pro Bowl berth in the process. Last year was even better as Mayfield threw for 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns. His yardage ranked him in a tie for third in the NFL and his touchdowns were tied for second. And for the second straight year, the former Sooners quarterback led the Bucaneers to the playoffs. "Baker's situation has showed that sometimes, it's not always the player," Chosen said. "He wasn't in the best situations, then got to Tampa and flourished and showed that he was a No. 1 pick in the draft and he has that capability." "Just switching girlfriends": Cam Newton reacts as Offset links up with Stefon Diggs' ex while Cardi B stays close to NFL star

Cam Newton's words hit home in the love feud (Image via Getty) Cam Newton throws sharp insight into the brewing celebrity tension involving Stefon Diggs, Cardi B , and Offset, describing the whole dynamic as messy and unstrategic. While social media speculates over yacht parties and club appearances, the former NFL MVP shifts the focus to personal value and intent. Newton's take not only puts Diggs in a stronger light but also questions the authenticity behind Offset's recent moves. This escalating situation is no longer just celebrity gossip — it's becoming a cultural case study in pride, relationships, and public image. Newton compares Offset-Diggs saga to high school games Cam Newton's commentary arrived after reports surfaced that Offset had been seen at a club with Sky Marlene, Stefon Diggs' ex-girlfriend. This followed recent buzz about Diggs and Cardi B appearing together at a yacht party, amid Offset's rumored efforts to reconcile with his ex-wife. Newton didn't hold back as he dissected the drama, making it clear that both Offset and Diggs are treating relationships like competitions. For Newton, the situation reflects more than just headlines — it's a showcase of male ego on display. Reacting to the latest twist in the MESSY Cardi B x Offset drama In a clip shared over the weekend, Newton likened their actions to students cheating in school. 'Offset switches his grade or paper with, you know what I'm saying, Stefon. His remarks point to a lack of maturity in how both public figures are handling the emotional fallout. Ex-NFL MVP weighs in on Cardi B dating drama He further added, 'You feel what I'm saying? Because like, this is… ah, it's getting a little sloppy. It is. You think so? It's, like … Okay, I see what you're trying to do.' Newton observed that it's less about genuine connection and more about symbolic wins. ' You competing. But y'all just switching girlfriends. It's, like, … what is this? What are we doing?' His tone suggested confusion and criticism, mixed with slight understanding of Offset's retaliatory mindset. Newton ultimately sided with Diggs, pointing out the financial and status dynamics between the two men. 'How much is Offset worth? Ok, thank you,' Newton said. 'He's got some money, but not Stefon money. ' Stefon Diggs is WINNING the Offseason… and Offset can't handle it! He added that men often compare themselves in terms of value when their former partners move on. 'When your ex-girl dating somebody new, the first thing you're going to ask is: 'How much is he worth?' In some capacity, you compare: 'How does he stack up against me?'' Former Raiders WR Henry Ruggs apologizes to crash victim's family Show Caption Hide Caption Ex-NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown wanted for attempted murder Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is wanted by police in Miami-Dade County for the charge of attempted murder. unbranded - Sport Former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III received a special release from prison Tuesday to speak at a Hope for Prisoners event in Las Vegas. At the event, Ruggs apologized to the family of Tina Tintor, a 23-year-old woman he killed in a car crash on Nov. 2, 2021. "I wish I could turn back the hands of time," Ruggs said when asked what he would tell the family in a video taken by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "I would love for them to meet the real Henry Ruggs and not the one that was escaping from something." Ruggs later clarified he was "escaping" the pressure that came with being a first-round pick, per the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Ruggs traveled at speeds of up to 156 mph in Las Vegas on the night of the fatal crash and had a blood alcohol content of 0.161, more than twice the legal limit in Nevada. Tintor and her dog, Max, were burned to death after Ruggs' Chevrolet Corvette slammed into the rear of her Toyota RAV-4. Ruggs and his girlfriend – Kiara Kilgo-Washington, who goes by Rudy Washington – suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. Ruggs pleaded guilty to felony DUI causing death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter in May 2023. He is serving a 3- to 10-year prison sentence and lamented the notoriety of his case in his Tuesday apology to Tintor's family. "I sincerely apologize for not only being a part of that situation, but the fact my face is always in the news, it's always in the newspaper," Ruggs said. "So they have to constantly be reminded of the situation, be reminded of me. Those memories have to continue to rise because of all of the fame and the notoriety I have, which I never asked for. I never liked. I would just tell them that like I said I deeply apologize for being a part of that." Ruggs is eligible for parole beginning Aug. 5, 2026, per records from the Nevada Department of Corrections. He must be considered for parole release no later than July 4, 2027. The 26-year-old was asked whether he would potentially like to return to the NFL in the future. His response? "Yes, I would love to," Ruggs said. "I'm in this newfound spiritual space, and I'm confident in who I am and what I can do, so, when the time comes, I'm sure I'll be ready."

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Soon, the Washington Commanders will have no choice but to make a critical decision with Terry McLaurin. Will they pay up or be forced to work the phones and move on? Only time will tell. Since the Commanders haven't reached the traning camp phase of the offseason just yet, they still have time to take care of McLaurin's financial needs before the situation gets worse than it already is. This week, the Commanders were placed in an expected yet awkward position as McLaurin was not in attendance for the team's mandatory minicamp sessions. Based on comments from Commanders head coach Dan Quinn and the quarterback Jayden Daniels, the business part of the game affecting McLaurin's offseason availability is understood and accepted. So far, key members of the Commanders' franchise seem confident that a new deal will get worked out. CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin's recent roundup of predictions suggests the same. Must-Read Commanders Update: Insider Offers Jarring Details on Injury Incident Looking at McLaurin's current situation, Benjamin predicts that McLaurin could soon secure a three-year deal. Financially, McLaurin could earn somewhere around $90 million over the course of that extension. "This sure feels like the sequel to that short-lived saga, as Washington is committed to title contention in 2025, even adding a new running mate for McLaurin in Deebo Samuel. While he's approaching 30, 'Scary Terry' is also due for a raise." When it comes to consistency, McLaurin has been one of the NFL's best as a receiver. On the health front, he's appeared in 17 games in each of the past four seasons. More Commanders News: Ex-NFL Star Sends Terry McLaurin Message to Washington As far as production goes, McLaurin has been a guaranteed 1,000-yard receiver since his second season in the league. Outside of his 919-yard campaign during his rookie year, McLaurin has exceeded 1,000 yards for the past five years. With Jayden Daniels under center, McLaurin caught 82 passes for 1,096 yards and scored a career-high 13 touchdowns last year. In the playoffs, the veteran wideout came down with 14 receptions for 227 yards and three touchdowns in three games. The Commanders don't seem to be in a rush to place McLaurin's desired deal on the table, but it might only be a matter of time before the two-time Pro Bowler's payday arrives.
