Soon, the Washington Commanders will have no choice but to make a critical decision with Terry McLaurin. Will they pay up or be forced to work the phones and move on? Only time will tell.
Since the Commanders haven't reached the traning camp phase of the offseason just yet, they still have time to take care of McLaurin's financial needs before the situation gets worse than it already is.
This week, the Commanders were placed in an expected yet awkward position as McLaurin was not in attendance for the team's mandatory minicamp sessions. Based on comments from Commanders head coach Dan Quinn and the quarterback Jayden Daniels, the business part of the game affecting McLaurin's offseason availability is understood and accepted.
So far, key members of the Commanders' franchise seem confident that a new deal will get worked out. CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin's recent roundup of predictions suggests the same.

Looking at McLaurin's current situation, Benjamin predicts that McLaurin could soon secure a three-year deal. Financially, McLaurin could earn somewhere around $90 million over the course of that extension.

"McLaurin also skipped both spring workouts and mandatory June camp back in 2022, before securing his current extension with the club," Benjamin explained. "This sure feels like the sequel to that short-lived saga, as Washington is committed to title contention in 2025, even adding a new running mate for McLaurin in Deebo Samuel. While he's approaching 30, 'Scary Terry' is also due for a raise."
When it comes to consistency, McLaurin has been one of the NFL's best as a receiver. On the health front, he's appeared in 17 games in each of the past four seasons.

As far as production goes, McLaurin has been a guaranteed 1,000-yard receiver since his second season in the league. Outside of his 919-yard campaign during his rookie year, McLaurin has exceeded 1,000 yards for the past five years. With Jayden Daniels under center, McLaurin caught 82 passes for 1,096 yards and scored a career-high 13 touchdowns last year.
In the playoffs, the veteran wideout came down with 14 receptions for 227 yards and three touchdowns in three games.
The Commanders don't seem to be in a rush to place McLaurin's desired deal on the table, but it might only be a matter of time before the two-time Pro Bowler's payday arrives.

Arizona Cardinals' biggest surprise of offseason program is rookie LB, says ESPN

While many have focused on a more muscular Marvin Harrison Jr., this rookie is turning heads. Every NFL team is currently on break as they get ready for training camps to open later this month. They all wrapped up their offseason programs and, as always, players impressed and surprised, even if some coaches won't say who specifically. ESPN compiled a list of the players who were the biggest surprises of their offseason program. For the Arizona Cardinals, believe it or not, it was not receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. with his noticeably stronger physique. Reporter Josh Weinfuss wrote that it was a rookie — fourth-round linebacker Cody Simon, their fourth-round pick out of Ohio State. The 2025 fourth-round pick has made a quick impression on coach Jonathan Gannon in a short amount of time. He's taken on the responsibility of wearing the green dot, which has added to the steep learning curve that comes with a player's first year in the NFL, but Gannon has praised Simon's ability to learn quickly from his mistakes. "He's definitely flashed here," Gannon said. "We got him playing a couple different spots, so that's good. He is playing on fourth down right now, so he is learning all that. He's eager to learn. He doesn't make mistakes twice and he's got juice. He's physical, just like all those guys. Long way to go. But I like where he is at." We don't know how much he has practiced with the first team in the offseason, if at all, but we will see in training camp whether he can crack the defensive rotation. With Mack Wilson and Akeem Davis-Gaither the favorites to start at inside linebacker, Simon has a shot after he was the Buckeyes' leader and defensive quarterback for their national champion team. He, along with second-round cornerback Will Johnson, have the best chances at earning a starting job as rookies. We will see soon what the buzz is about in training camp and the preseason. Steelers Make Official Announcement on GM Omar Khan Future on Thursday

Steelers Make Official Announcement on GM Omar Khan Future on Thursday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Pittsburgh Steelers officially announced on Thursday that they have signed general manager Omar Khan to a new three-year contract ... a move that comes on the heels of some substantial moving and shaking this offseason. Advertisement The deal locks in the idea of the GM remaining in the Steel City through at least the 2028 NFL season. Khan has been in charge of the Steelers' front office since 2022 and has worked in combination with longtime head coach Mike Tomlin to keep Pittsburgh in perennial playoff contention. "I am excited to announce we have signed Omar to a new three-year contract," said Steelers President Art Rooney II via "Omar and his team have done a great job over the past three years in constructing our roster through the NFL Draft, strategic trades, and free agency. We look forward to continuing that trend that will lead to even more success on the field." Prior to assuming the role here as general manager, Kahn worked for the team on projects including trades, free agency and other moves. Advertisement The Steelers' aggressiveness this offseason has brought to the roster the likes of Jalen Ramsey, Jonnu Smith, DK Metcalf and Aaron Rodgers as the attempt to repeat as a playoff qualifier. Kahn, 48, is the son of immigrants and is a native of New Orleans. He is in his 25th year here with the Steelers. Related: T.J.
