Lewis Capaldi sends emotional message to fans at Noah Kahan concert
Lewis Capaldi is back in the spotlight, where he belongs (Image: Getty Images) Lewis Capaldi sent a tear-jerking message to fans at Noah Kahan's gig in Hyde Park last night. The Scottish star, 28, who brought the house down singing Northern Attitude with Kahan - who has been vocal about his own mental health journey - is now back where he belongs after taking a break from the spotlight following a difficult few years. Following his glittering return to Glastonbury last week after taking time out to focus on his mental health and 'adjust' to his Tourette's diagnosis after he was left unable to finish his set back at Worthy Farm in 2023, Lewis told fans - who had no idea he would be performing at BST - he was glad to be back. Thanking the audience for their "outpouring of love", he continued: "I've been away for a little while and to come back to this outpouring of love and support has been absolutely incredible. "I can't thank everybody enough for all the kind words since Glastonbury - and now this! It's been the best week of my life. I hope you continue to enjoy the song, it means a lot to me." After bringing fans to tears at Glastonbury last week, Lewis has shifted a whopping 68,500 Survive records in its first week, including more than four million streams, surpassing the much-loved singer's previous best of 56,000 with the 2022 song Forget Me. The musician, who has spoken openly about having been diagnosed with Tourette syndrome, heartbreakingly had to pull out of Glastonbury two years ago as he told fans: "I'm still learning to adjust to the impact of my Tourette's and on Saturday it became obvious that I need to spend much more time getting my mental and physical health in order." Noah played Northern Attitude with Lewis (Image: Getty) Lewis issued an update later that year in which he said: "I'm currently taking some time off to focus on my health and wellbeing and it's been going great!" Following his epic comeback last week, it has now been announced that Lewis will embark on a UK and Ireland tour later this year. The news was shared on June 30 and it's been revealed that the star will perform ten shows in cities including Manchester and Glasgow. The new tour, which will be Lewis' first headline tour in more than two years, will kick off in Sheffield on September 7 and is scheduled to conclude in Dublin on September 29. The Hold Me While You Wait star will visit a host of other cities in between those two dates, including two nights at the O2 in London. He will also visit venues in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham and Cardiff. Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info After two years away from the spotlight, global superstar Lewis Capaldi is well and truly, back. Back in the charts with his huge new single Survive, back in the headlines after his surprise and magnificent return to Glastonbury Festival and, this September, back on tour in arenas across the UK. On Friday afternoon, a headliner-sized Pyramid Stage crowd embraced the emotion of Lewis's emergence into the sunshine for a powerful, hit-laden half-hour. 'Second time's a charm on this one,' said Lewis. 'I just wanted to come and finish what I couldn't finish last time.' That he emphatically did, with his soaring vocals leading the crowd through classics Before You Go , Grace , Hold Me While You Wait , Bruises , Forget Me, a first live showing of 'Survive', and a unifying performance of Someone You Loved . There wasn't a dry eye in the house. On Monday, Lewis announced a UK & Ireland Arena Tour for September 2025, with dates in Sheffield, Aberdeen, Glasgow, London, Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham, Cardiff, Dublin - Tickets on sale HERE with Pre-Sale: Tuesday, Jul 8th @ 9.00am & General Sale: Thursday, Jul 10th @ 9.00am. 'Survive' sees Lewis re-united with close collaborator Romans, who co-wrote his global megahit 'Someone You Loved', that extraordinarily turned 10x Platinum earlier this year. The new track arrives off the back of a run of Scottish warm up shows in May that saw Lewis return to the stage as a guest of mental health charity CALM, in celebration of Mental Health Awareness Week. With no pressure, and no level of expectation, the shows allowed Capaldi the space to gauge his comfort and emotional response before returning to the spotlight - a move which ended up proving nothing short of a triumph. Lewis' last release, the hit-stacked record Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent , scored him his second UK number 1 album, creating another three heartbreaking UK number 1 singles, 'Pointless', 'Wish You The Best ' and the Platinum-certified 'Forget Me', working with hitmakers including Max Martin (Taylor Swift, The Weeknd), Malay (Lorde, Frank Ocean), and longtime collaborator Phil Plested (James Bay, Bastille). The album also gained widespread critical acclaim from the likes of The Guardian, New York Times, NME, Rolling Stone, GQ, Stereogum & many more. It also topped airplay charts, smashing an impressive 95,000 units, outselling the rest of that week's Top 10 combined, as well as outselling first week sales of his own monumental debut album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent . April 2023 saw the global Netflix release of Lewis' compelling, raw and honest feature-length, GRAMMY®-nominated music documentary 'Lewis Capaldi: How I'm Feeling Now' - available to watch on the platform now. The documentary shot straight to the top of the Netflix chart, making it the most watched film on the platform since its release. Lewis' subsequent success stems back to 2019's multimillion selling debut Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent , which propelled Capaldi from bedroom musician to superstar. Few had seen a debut release quite like it, becoming the biggest selling UK album of both 2019 & 2020, spawning two UK number 1 singles, bagging a few BRITs and a GRAMMY® nomination, with one of those number 1's becoming a smash hit on both sides of the globe in 'Someone You Loved', which as well as recently going 10x Platinum , is also the UK's most streamed song of all time & the world's fourth highest ever streamed song. After weathering the kind of storm that few can prepare for, Lewis Capaldi returns with a renewed sense of purpose. 'Survive' proves that even in the darkest moments, there's still strength in showing up. As he marks a new era, Lewis isn't just surviving, he's returning even stronger, heart wide open, and ready to step out again. Lewis Capaldi surprises fans as he performs for first time in two years
Lewis Capaldi was a surprise guest at a Campaign Against Living Miserably charity concert - appearing on stage alongside headliner Tom Walker to belt out a string of hits Lewis Capaldi stunned music fans on Friday night when he made a surprise appearance at charity concert. The 28-year-old Scottish singer has been out of the limelight in recent months and has not performed on stage since 2023. But fans were thrilled at the end of the week when he appeared at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh during a charity concert in aid of the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM). The Forget Me singer joined fellow chart-topping star Tom Walker to sing six songs. The guest appearance had been teased to those in attendance, with many left gobsmacked by the arrival of the reclusive music star. While a report has stated Lewis - who has battled anxiety and revealed in 2023 he has Tourette's syndrome - announced he was "very nervous" to perform in front of the crowd. Those in attendance were asked not to film the event - and also had to place their mobile phones into sealed pouches upon entering the concert. Headliner Tom warned fans in advance of the event to prepare to be in a phone-free environment. He wrote online: "We're keeping this gig super intimate, and that means we're going old school — no phones, no cameras, no filming. Just you, me, and the music. "The venue will be implementing a phone-free experience using YONDR pouches (you'll keep your phone with you in a locked pouch until after the show). Since you won't be able to access your phone during the event, please remember to bring a physical payment card and some cash if possible, along with photo ID matching your ticket name." His advanced warning helped keep Lewis's involvement a secret - and he later shared his happiness over the fact that the star joined him on stage. The Just You and I singer told The Sun:"When Lewis confirmed he wanted to do it last minute, I was delighted. We've bumped into each other a few times over the years backstage at fezzys (festivals) and events and he's a total legend. "I know how much pressure this industry can put on artists at times, especially after a bit of a break. So for him to be able to play a little secret gig in a safe space without all the phones, the noise and the expectations was perfect. I'm buzzing to have been a part of it." Fans took to social media to congratulate Lewis's return to the spotlight - his first performance since he appeared at Glastonbury in 2023. One wrote on Instagram: "LEWIS YOU WERE INCREDIBLE TONIGHT! Thank you for such an incredible night, I'll never forgot it." Others were shocked that the chart-topping star was the surprise guest of the night, with one writing: "Genuinely could not believe wtf was happening! I thought the guest would be someone like the red hot chilli pipers but OH MY GODDDDD I regret not sitting closer to the front." Lewis has been open about his struggles in the past - and has been largely out of the public eye both in real life and online in recent month. Back in January, the chart-topping star opened up about his struggles by posting lyrics on Instagram over a video showing shadows dancing under candlelight. He wrote a caption alongside the short clip of footage, writing: "my heads a living hell, if i'm honest with myself x #newmusic #mentalhealth." The lyrics over the images were from his 2023 song, A Cure For Minds Unwell, and state: "If I'm being honest, I couldn't tell you this is all I wanted. I struggle sleepin' 'cause the house feels haunted. "Filled with the shadows of regret, And the things I should've said, To the ones I laid to rest. And lately, I'm terrified that all my youth is fading. Man, growin' old is so excruciating. "Is there a cure for minds unwell? 'Cause my head's a livin' hell. If I'm honest with myself."
