Lewis Capaldi announces huge arena tour with two Scottish dates
After two years away from the spotlight, global superstar Lewis Capaldi is well and truly, back.
Back in the charts with his huge new single Survive, back in the headlines after his surprise and magnificent return to Glastonbury Festival and, this September, back on tour in arenas across the UK.
On Friday afternoon, a headliner-sized Pyramid Stage crowd embraced the emotion of Lewis's emergence into the sunshine for a powerful, hit-laden half-hour. 'Second time's a charm on this one,' said Lewis. 'I just wanted to come and finish what I couldn't finish last time.' That he emphatically did, with his soaring vocals leading the crowd through classics Before You Go , Grace , Hold Me While You Wait , Bruises , Forget Me, a first live showing of 'Survive', and a unifying performance of Someone You Loved . There wasn't a dry eye in the house.
On Monday, Lewis announced a UK & Ireland Arena Tour for September 2025, with dates in Sheffield, Aberdeen, Glasgow, London, Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham, Cardiff, Dublin - Tickets on sale HERE with Pre-Sale: Tuesday, Jul 8th @ 9.00am & General Sale: Thursday, Jul 10th @ 9.00am.
'Survive' sees Lewis re-united with close collaborator Romans, who co-wrote his global megahit 'Someone You Loved', that extraordinarily turned 10x Platinum earlier this year.
The new track arrives off the back of a run of Scottish warm up shows in May that saw Lewis return to the stage as a guest of mental health charity CALM, in celebration of Mental Health Awareness Week. With no pressure, and no level of expectation, the shows allowed Capaldi the space to gauge his comfort and emotional response before returning to the spotlight - a move which ended up proving nothing short of a triumph.
Lewis' last release, the hit-stacked record Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent , scored him his second UK number 1 album, creating another three heartbreaking UK number 1 singles, 'Pointless', 'Wish You The Best ' and the Platinum-certified 'Forget Me', working with hitmakers including Max Martin (Taylor Swift, The Weeknd), Malay (Lorde, Frank Ocean), and longtime collaborator Phil Plested (James Bay, Bastille).
The album also gained widespread critical acclaim from the likes of The Guardian, New York Times, NME, Rolling Stone, GQ, Stereogum & many more. It also topped airplay charts, smashing an impressive 95,000 units, outselling the rest of that week's Top 10 combined, as well as outselling first week sales of his own monumental debut album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent .
April 2023 saw the global Netflix release of Lewis' compelling, raw and honest feature-length, GRAMMY®-nominated music documentary 'Lewis Capaldi: How I'm Feeling Now' - available to watch on the platform now. The documentary shot straight to the top of the Netflix chart, making it the most watched film on the platform since its release.
Lewis' subsequent success stems back to 2019's multimillion selling debut Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent , which propelled Capaldi from bedroom musician to superstar. He shared: 'My issue with Netflix is Harry has said there's stuff he's kept back that he hasn't put in the book, that he didn't put in the documentary. 'And he's never going to talk about it. 'If the Netflix deal is continuing, they're going to say, 'look, so much for behind the scenes at Polo and flower sprinkles, we actually want to know what else there is.'' When the Duke of Sussex released his 400-page Spare memoir, he claimed there were initially 800 pages written. He explained: "It could have been two books, put it that way. And the hard bit was taking things out. "But there are some things that have happened, especially between me and my brother, and to some extent between me and my father, that I just don't want the world to know. Because I don't think they would ever forgive me. 'Now you could argue that some of the stuff I've put in there, well, they will never forgive me anyway.' Tom Walker has poured cold water on rumours that Lewis Capaldi will make a surprise appearance at TRNSMT. The Leave A Light On singer, 33, recently performed a show in Edinburgh alongside pal Lewis Capaldi - the West Lothian singer's first show in two years – for the suicide prevention charity CALM. The low key gig was the first live appearance by the Someone You Loved singer weeks before his surprise Glastonbury set. And Tom says that seeing Lewis make his comeback with the charity gig and then at Glastonbury after taking a hiatus from making music two years ago has been inspirational. Capaldi has since reached No1 in the charts with his current single Survive and will play two dates at Glasgow's OVO Hydro in September. Responding to the rumours that the Someone You Loved singer might be tempted to make an appearance at Glasgow Green yesterday, Walker said: 'I know nothing about that. Nobody tells me anything. It was an inspirational thing to see that Lewis do that wee gig in Edinburgh and then a matter of weeks later, taking on the Pyramid Stage the way he did. 'I think just what he's achieved is incredible. I watched his set at the Pyramid stage with my mates and I was in awe of the comeback that he's just made. It's just really inspirational. I think it's a great thing for people who've got their own demons to battle to see that it is possible and you can get through the other side. 'It was a proper moment and he absolutely smashed it. His voice was amazing. The whole thing was just so good. So I'm so so pleased for him. And what a comeback. Just absolutely amazing. 'Credit to him. It's no joke what he's achieved. It's massive.' Walker was among the artists taking precautions in the sunshine on Sunday. Walker, who also played Glastonbury in June, said: 'I like to buy Factor 100 and at the same time wear a beanie which is a confusing remedy for the sunshine. But a beanie will keep you cool. That's a well known fact. TRNSMT is a great festival. It's not quite the size of Glastonbury but it is such a good vibe. 'Every time we've played it, it's just been an awesome reaction. It's got a similar kind of feeling to it, in terms of how excited the crowd ought to see the favourite acts. Glastonbury is such an easy gig, because everyone's just really happy to be there and they're having a great time. And I do feel like TRNSMT has a similar vibe to it.' Walker, who opened the King Tut's stage in 2018, played a blistering set on the main stage on Sunday. He said: 'It's always nice playing gigs when everybody's in the sunshine and they're all really happy. That is quite easy. I'll take the sunshine over the rain all day.'

Ncuti Gatwa says he left Doctor Who as ‘I am getting old and my body was tired'
The Rwandan-Scottish actor, 32, whose breakout role was Eric Effiong in Netflix hit Sex Education, played the Time Lord for two series after first appearing in a 60th anniversary special with the 10th and 14th incarnations of the Doctor, David Tennant. In May, during his final episode as the 15th Doctor, Gatwa appeared to be replaced by former Doctor Who companion Billie Piper when his character regenerated. Gatwa told the BBC's Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg programme: 'I'm getting old, and my body was tired… and I've now just started doing some ballet, so I'm making really great decisions. 'It's the most amazing job in the world, a job that any actor would dream of and – because it's so good – it's strenuous. 'It takes a lot out of you, physically, emotionally, mentally, and so it was time.' Asked if he would ever come back to the show, he said: 'Never say never.' Barbie star Gatwa has played the Doctor since Tennant's Time Lord bi-generated in 2023, after his version of the alien character was brought back to the series as the 14th Doctor. Gatwa was expected to be the UK's spokesperson at the Eurovision Song Contest in May but pulled out, with speculation the decision was connected to controversy surrounding Israel's participation in the competition. 'It all panned out very interestingly. I pulled out of it a long time before it was announced', he said. 'And it was announced when it was announced, I don't know why, but I was just very busy. 'Just had a lot of work schedules, a lot of press around The Roses, around Doctor (Who).' Asked about the speculation surrounding his withdrawal, Gatwa, who did not watch this year's competition, said: 'I was just very busy.' The actor appeared on the Sunday morning news show to discuss the West End premiere of Born With Teeth, a play that re-imagines the relationship between rival playwrights Christopher Marlowe and William Shakespeare. Gatwa plays Marlowe with his Sex Education co-star Edward Bluemel as Shakespeare in the Royal Shakespeare Company production at London's Wyndham's Theatre from August. 'It's a really great story between these two huge literary icons, and it's very exciting to imagine what could have happened in a room together', he said.
