Lewis Capaldi to make 'huge comeback' with 'secret set' at Glastonbury Festival two years after breakdown
Lewis Capaldi is reportedly set to make a huge comeback at Glastonbury Festival after struggling to perform two years ago. The Scots singer is believed to be taking the 'Secret Set' slot on the Friday night of the music festival.
The Forget Me chanter is believed to be taking to the Pyramid Stage at the iconic music event after Alanis Morrisette, reports the Daily Mail. It comes after the 28-year-old was forced to apologise to fans throughout his 2023 Glastonbury set as he battled with flailing vocals and a fading voice.
The West Lothian native looked visibly frustrated throughout the performance as he made an emotional admission to the crowd. It later came to light that Lewis had experienced an attack of Tourette's Syndrome on stage.
The Bruises hitmaker had previously taken time off in the lead-up to the festival to focus on his mental health and told fans on stage he would likely be taking another extended break following the performance.
"Look I'm really sorry before we go any further, because this is a pain in the a***," he said. "You've all come out and I'm apologising that my voice is f***ing packing in. Glastonbury I'm really sorry, I'm a bit annoyed with myself here.
"I recently took three weeks off, just because I've been non-stop since the start of the year and wanted a break for my head and my mental health. I wanted to come back and do Glastonbury because it's so incredible and I just want to thank you all for coming out.
"I was scared but you really made me feel at ease. I'm really sorry, I hope they will let me back on even though it's been a sh**show.
"I feel like I'll be taking another break over the next few weeks so you probably won't see me for the rest of the year. But when I do come back and I do see you I hope you're up for watching."
In a touching show of unity and support, the crowd sang Lewis' hit Someone You Loved back to him, nearly moving him to tears. Music-lovers also buoyed him up by chanting "Oh Lewis Capaldi".
Lewis vanished from the spotlight to adjust to the impact of his Tourette's, saying that it "became obvious" during his Glastonbury set "that he needed to spend much more time getting his mental and physical health in order".
"I [need to do this] so I can keep doing everything I love for a long time to come," he added at the time.
"Playing for you every night is all I've ever dreamed of, so this has been the most difficult decision of my life.
"I'll be back as soon as I possibly can."
Tourette syndrome is a neurological disorder that often causes sudden unwanted and uncontrolled rapid and repeated movements or vocal sounds called tics, at times making it difficult for people to speak.
Fans were given an insight into Lewis' diagnosis in his acclaimed Netflix documentary, How I'm Feeling Now, which was released shortly before his Glasto appearance.
And back in March, singer Yungblud excitedly talked up Capaldi's pending return to music, remarking: "I have heard his new music and it sounds great. He is getting his mental health right. I love him. We've been on this ride together."

He shared: 'My issue with Netflix is Harry has said there's stuff he's kept back that he hasn't put in the book, that he didn't put in the documentary. 'And he's never going to talk about it. 'If the Netflix deal is continuing, they're going to say, 'look, so much for behind the scenes at Polo and flower sprinkles, we actually want to know what else there is.'' When the Duke of Sussex released his 400-page Spare memoir, he claimed there were initially 800 pages written. He explained: "It could have been two books, put it that way. And the hard bit was taking things out. "But there are some things that have happened, especially between me and my brother, and to some extent between me and my father, that I just don't want the world to know. Nathan revealed the news on stage in front of a massive crowd at TRNSMT Festival today. The Leave A Light On singer, 33, recently performed a show in Edinburgh alongside pal Lewis Capaldi - the West Lothian singer's first show in two years – for the suicide prevention charity CALM. The low key gig was the first live appearance by the Someone You Loved singer weeks before his surprise Glastonbury set. And Tom says that seeing Lewis make his comeback with the charity gig and then at Glastonbury after taking a hiatus from making music two years ago has been inspirational. Capaldi has since reached No1 in the charts with his current single Survive and will play two dates at Glasgow's OVO Hydro in September. Responding to the rumours that the Someone You Loved singer might be tempted to make an appearance at Glasgow Green yesterday, Walker said: 'I know nothing about that. Nobody tells me anything. It was an inspirational thing to see that Lewis do that wee gig in Edinburgh and then a matter of weeks later, taking on the Pyramid Stage the way he did. 'I think just what he's achieved is incredible. I watched his set at the Pyramid stage with my mates and I was in awe of the comeback that he's just made. It's just really inspirational. I think it's a great thing for people who've got their own demons to battle to see that it is possible and you can get through the other side. 'It was a proper moment and he absolutely smashed it. His voice was amazing. The whole thing was just so good. So I'm so so pleased for him. And what a comeback. Just absolutely amazing. 'Credit to him. It's no joke what he's achieved. It's massive.' Walker was among the artists taking precautions in the sunshine on Sunday. Walker, who also played Glastonbury in June, said: 'I like to buy Factor 100 and at the same time wear a beanie which is a confusing remedy for the sunshine. But a beanie will keep you cool. That's a well known fact. TRNSMT is a great festival. It's not quite the size of Glastonbury but it is such a good vibe. 'Every time we've played it, it's just been an awesome reaction. It's got a similar kind of feeling to it, in terms of how excited the crowd ought to see the favourite acts. Glastonbury is such an easy gig, because everyone's just really happy to be there and they're having a great time. And I do feel like TRNSMT has a similar vibe to it.' Walker, who opened the King Tut's stage in 2018, played a blistering set on the main stage on Sunday. He said: 'It's always nice playing gigs when everybody's in the sunshine and they're all really happy. That is quite easy. I'll take the sunshine over the rain all day.'
