The truth behind Eamonn Holmes being 'booed and heckled' at awards show
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Further light has been shed on claims that Eamonn Holmes faced a 'chorus of boos' as he accepted a major accolade at an entertainment awards show. Footage from the event shows the 65-year-old presenter appearing to be 'heckled' as he collected the best news award on behalf of GB News Breakfast at the Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC) awards on Tuesday. Using a wheelchair ramp to access the stage at London's Grosvenor House, the former This Morning host expressed gratitude to the production team and viewers. However, just moments later he was seemingly jeered by members of the audience in what was reportedly a feisty environment. However, despite the claims of Eamonn being 'booed and heckled' at the ceremony, a source who was present at the event told Metro that 'no one booed' and instead 'people applauded him'. A source had previously told MailOnline: 'After it was announced that GB News Breakfast had won, there were a few boos around the room. Due to his wheelchair, Eamonn needed a ramp to get up on the stage. 'He gave a moving speech about the work of colleague Charlie Peters, who had earlier won news presenter for his work on exposing grooming gangs in Britain. 'It was a nice moment seeing Eamonn pay tribute to a fellow news presenter, but it seemed someone in the audience didn't agree. 'They heckled for Eamonn to 'get off,' and it was an awkward end to his speech.' Applause and cheers could also be heard in the video that was recorded at the awards ceremony. Earlier this week, it was revealed that Eamonn sparked an investigation at GB News after a 'young female producer was hit by his wheelchair'. The former This Morning presenter, who joined GB News in 2022, was first spotted using a wheelchair late last year. It came after years of ill health, first starting with a double hip replacement in 2016, before he slipped three discs in his back in 2021. He then underwent a back surgery that went 'wrong' in 2023, which left him needing to use a wheelchair. In The Mail on Sunday, it was reported that a young female producer was 'left bruised' after being hit by Eamonn's wheelchair, sparking an investigation at GB News. Metro previously reached out to the TV presenter's representative for comment. At the Tric Awards, GB News fended off the likes of BBC News At Six, ITV's Good Morning Britain and ITV Evening News to win the award for best news show. Elsewhere on the night, GB News reporter Charlie beat former BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker, Fiona Bruce and Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid to win the award for best news presenter. But it was not the only evening's upset, after Amazon Prime Video series Clarkson's Farm beat The Traitors for the best reality series award. Jeremy Clarkson's series, which recently returned for a fourth season, came out on top over other popular reality shows, including BBC's The Traitors and ITV's I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Last month, Eamonn went viral after toppling off his chair during a live broadcast on GB News, which left him 'bruised, sore and embarrassed'. More Trending Speaking straight after his fall, Eamonn said of the wheels on his chair: 'They're a bit slippy and slidey, and I've slipped and slid off mine there. 'Not the first guest to have done so; we've had a few. They have to remain nameless because they're well-known people, but they've hit the floor really badly, quite frightening.' Despite Eamonn playing down the mishap, he did admit the accident had left him a bit shocked. 'The worst thing about this, of course, this was at a time when I was hospitalised two weeks ago for a very similar fall in the same area, back of the head, my neck, my shoulders,' he explained. 'So it all came back, as it were.' View More » Metro has contacted Eamonn Holmes for comment. Got a story? Eamonn Holmes booed as he collects GB News award in his wheelchair
The 65-year-old was told to 'get off' the stage by one heckler TV presenter Eamonn Holmes was booed last night as he collected an award for his breakfast show on GB News in his wheelchair. The 65-year-old was shunned by the crowd as he accepted an award at the Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC) Awards, MailOnline has reported. Holmes appeared on stage at London's Grosvenor House in a wheelchair as he accepted the gong on behalf of the GB News Breakfast team. As he shared his thanks with the crew and his viewers, the audience booed, with one person heckling him during his speech. 'After it was announced that GB News Breakfast had won, there were a few boos around the room. Due to his wheelchair, Eamonn needed a ramp to get up on the stage,' a source told MailOnline. 'He gave a moving speech about the work of colleague Charli Peters, who had earlier won News Presenter for his work on exposing grooming gangs in Britain. 'It was a nice moment seeing Eamonn pay tribute to a fellow news presenter, but it seemed someone in the audience didn't agree.' One person heckled the Belfast-born broadcaster, egging him to 'get off' the stage. Holmes began using the mobility aid to assist with chronic back pain. The condition began in 2021, after he dislocated his pelvis, resulting in three slipped discs. While recovering from surgery, he fell down the stairs at his home, and broke his shoulder. He went on to have further surgery on his spine and neck in 2023, but it didn't relieve his pain. This week, The Mail on Sunday have reported that bosses at GB News launched an investigation after a young producer was left with a bruise after she was hit by Holmes' wheelchair. The alleged incident occurred earlier this month when she tried to explain to the person pushing the chair that the presenter could not return to the set to continue hosting the show following a bathroom break, as the cameras were rolling. 'Eamonn gets wheeled on and off the set because his mobility is so bad,' a source told the publication. 'He is really struggling to move around these days so, as part of the care that GB News are giving him, he will be wheeled to the loo if he needs to go during the programme. Eamonn Holmes News in 90 Seconds - June 25th 'Only this time there was some confusion over whether or not he could go back to his seat as the cameras were going and the show was being aired live. 'The poor young woman was doing her job and saying that it wasn't possible for him to go back on. 'There were frustrations over it from some involved and the next thing the woman gets hit and she got a bruise on her leg. It has been the talk of the studio ever since.' While there is no suggestion of any wrongdoing on Holmes' part, the HR department at GB News are reviewing the incident.

Eamonn Holmes booed and heckled on stage at TRIC Awards ceremony
Eamonn was on stage collecting an award when the incident happened. Eamonn Holmes attended Tuesday's Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC) awards where he collected an award on behalf of GB News Breakfast - however, things got a big awkward. The 65-year-old presenter used a wheelchair ramp to make his way to the stage where he expressed gratitude to the production team and viewers after being handed the award for Best News Programme. However, after being announced as the winner, audible boos were heard from the crowd. Despite the frosty reaction, Eamonn delivered a sweet tribute to his fellow presenter Charli Peters, who had earlier won the News Presenter award for his investigative work on grooming gangs in the UK, writes The Mirror. However, as he brought his speech to a close, things became awkward after someone in the audience heckled for Eamonn to 'get off'. It remains uncertain whether Eamonn heard the heckling. He concluded his speech warmly, saying: 'For the thousands of people who voted, that is brilliant for us so we say thank you, thank you, thank you, to anyone who did bother to vote." This marks the second year running that Eamonn has accepted the TRIC News award. Last year, he made his appearance with the aid of a walker and hinted at personal challenges, stating: 'So I got two things in my back that I didn't want,' seemingly referencing his medical procedure and his recent split from former co-host Ruth Langsford. Recently, concerns have been growing for Eamonn after he gave a worrying health update to his followers. He'd been seen using a wheelchair and crutches in public regularly, sparking concern. The former This Morning star experienced a fall at home which left him fearing he was "dead". Eamonn described the incident as having the "sorest and most powerful" impact on his head, resulting in hospitalisation after the mishap at his residence. "I was very worried about me. [I] fell on the bathroom floor and once I was down, I couldn't get up," he recounted. Elsewhere at the TRIC ceremony, former Love Island star Tasha Ghouri shared her thoughts on her career direction following her recent split from Andrew Le Page, whom she met on the ITV2 dating show in 2022. The couple, who made it to the Love Island final, ended their relationship after more than two and a half years together. The 26 year old said she is focusing on developing her presenting career rather than returning to reality dating shows. 'It's not for me personally,' Tasha admitted, referring to programs like Love Island: All Stars or Celebs Go Dating. She added: 'I know people find love on these shows but my dating shows are closed. I'm going down a different path now. It's something I'm really passionate about. I'm happily single but I'm open to love. I'd love a family.'

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Eamonn Holmes has reached out to his fans for support after he gave an upsetting update about his well-being on social media. The 65-year-old ex-This Morning host, recently hospitalised after an incident while presenting the GB News Breakfast programme alongside Ellie Costello, asked his followers to 'think of him'. The mishap occurred when Eamonn tumbled off his chair during a live segment, while the camera was trained on their interviewee, political pundit Charlie Rowley. Off-camera, Ellie could be heard exclaiming "oh my gosh", and Eamonn urged Charlie to "carry on" before returning on-air after a commercial break. Following spinal surgery last year to address severe back pain from three herniated discs, the renowned presenter has been dedicated to his recovery. His mobility compromised over the past twelve months, he has had to rely on walking aids and occasionally a wheelchair. Just one week on from the chair incident at GB News, the esteemed journalist took to Instagram reminiscing about his fitter days. He shared an image sporting a sharp look with a white shirt, black trousers, co-ordinated tie, and a sleek black coat, posed as if he was about to present a news piece. In his post, Eamonn reflected: "This pic tells me this was 3 years ago in my Home City of Belfast. I was making a big extravaganza featuring The Ulster Orchestra and Film and TV music associated with famous producers," reports the Mirror. "It actually made me very sad looking at it because I could walk then and can't now . I pray to God and the new Docs that I am seeing that all will change and change soon . Keep you posted and please think of me." Supporters and friends were quick to share their well wishes, with one user commenting: "Hang in there. Am sure it's incredibly hard and dispiriting; but here's hoping that better days are to come." Another added: "This was my very first TV gig and it was such a special privilege to work with you Eamonn, you gave me amazing support and solid advice at working in the industry. Wishing you all the very best in your healing and thank you for being an inspiration. "I hope they can help you Eamonn. I'm recovering from spinal surgery. It's a long haul to recover but worth it. Sending positive thoughts for a good outcome for you," another said. After he fell off his chair on live television, he made light of the 'wonky wheels' at the studio. Following a commercial break, Eamonn quipped: "Welcome back. Good to see you again. Especially good for me to see you again. I am still alive, yes. "And they're very wonky wheels on chairs that we've got here, and matter of fact, we don't really like the chairs full stop, do we? They're a bit slippy and slidey and I've slipped and slid off mine there. "Not the first guest to have done so, we've had a few, they have to remain nameless because they're well known people, but they've hit the floor really badly, quite frightening. "And it was a bit of a shock for me because I've had a fall in my bathroom two weeks ago, which hospitalised me, and that hit me again right in the back. (I'm) really, really sore. Really sore."
