'I flew to Greek island known for beautiful views - it was hell and a total scam'

A popular tourist destination in Greece has often been known as an idyllic escape during the summer holidays, but for one traveller, it became a holiday from hell A summer getaway to Greece is about immersing yourself in the culture, soaking up the sun-soaked rays, indulging in the local delicacies and wandering around the enchanting cobbled streets. But for one traveller, their luxury holiday to Santorini left them less than impressed as they battled the crazy crowds taking over the Greek island. ‌ Gabriella Barras, 27, visited Santorini on holiday earlier this year this month after scenic images of the island caught her attention on social media. The four-day trip cost her £2,200, but it wasn't anything like she imagined, with an "overflow of tourists". ‌ "I expected Santorini to be a picturesque, relaxing and gorgeous holiday," Gabriella, who lives in Dubai, told Luxury Travel Daily. "I wanted to experience Greek culture and food. ‌ "Photos of it looked incredible. While it was indeed picturesque and the views were phenomenal, I didn't think that there was much old school tradition and culture. It's so commercialised to the point where I didn't necessarily find it relaxing at all." She added: "The overflow of tourists at every given spot we went to was overwhelming and definitely not the gorgeous, relaxing retreat I was expecting. There were hundreds of people trying to see the sunset at once." ‌ In addition to the overcrowding, Gabriella found it tricky when it came to the stairs on the island. She explained: "We rented a car, so getting around wasn't difficult; however, a lot of the accommodation is up a whole load of stairs up the mountain. "At some places, getting your luggage to and from your room or even just getting yourself up can be strenuous and maybe not possible for everyone." ‌ Gabriella isn't the only traveller to have slammed Santorini. Claire Smith, 25, stayed in the popular tourist destination for six nights just a few weeks ago, which set her back £600. However, instead of admiring the crystal clear waters through the iconic white and blue buildings, her main view became the overcrowding of tourists. Claire, who hails from Sydney, Australia, stayed in Fira, the capital of Santorini, but caught buses to Oia, one of Santorini's most popular towns, and Kamari, a village on the east coast of the island, for the day. "Trying to get on a bus was animalistic mayhem," she explained. "I wanted to explore beaches and relax. I expected the stunning views and the classic pictures of the caldera that you see all over Instagram, the blue dome buildings and for it to be very hot. ‌ "Oia was the most crowded and jam-packed in reality. That made it hard to enjoy. It was beautiful, but the main streets in the town were so jam-packed that it took ages to walk through, and it was also super hot with no shade anywhere. That was probably the worst part. "We walked the steps down to Ammoudi Bay, which were covered in donkey poo, so it smelled pretty bad. I had to squeeze up against a wall on the way back up, as there were donkeys on their way down. I was kind of worried they'd squash me. ‌ "We were getting the bus back from Kamari to Fira, and the bus stop had heaps of people all scrambling to get on it. There was no line at the bus stop to make it orderly, so it was a free-for-all. "We luckily got on the bus, but I heard an Australian family saying that one American couple didn't manage to get on the bus and they'd also missed the previous one, so I felt really bad for people like that. "Fira was easier and accessible for walking around. It was crowded but not to a crazy extent, where it makes it hard to appreciate anything." ‌ Following her experience, Claire advises other holidaymakers to avoid Santorini during the peak season. She shared: "I would still recommend it to people because I think it's a pretty unique island with the incredible views, the caldera, white buildings and sunsets. "My advice would be to probably not stay in Oia, and to avoid July and August if you hate the crowds and peak summer heat. I'd aim for the slightly calmer months when you can probably appreciate it a bit more." Meanwhile, Gabriella said she's not in a hurry to return and recommended visiting quieter destinations in Greece, such as Milos, Koufonisia and Amorgos. "I wouldn't go again. I've been to much better islands and don't feel the need to see Santorini again," she said. "I'd recommend people to go see it as a bucket list trip, but two to three days is more than enough, and I'd highly recommend other less commercialised islands."

Is Manon leaving KATSEYE? Fans break down signs of HYBE allegedly phasing her out of the global girl group

If you've been following the K-pop side of X, you've probably read the ongoing rumours around HYBE's girl group KATSEYE. Fans are convinced that something's off when it comes to member Manon. Some believe she's being deliberately sidelined from group activities, while others think she might be on her way out of the group altogether. While the entire situation remains rooted in rumours and speculation, here's a breakdown of what's unfolded so far and why fans believe Manon may be getting unfair treatment within KATSEYE. What's up with KATSEYE, and why do fans think Manon is being sidelined? BTS' label HYBE and Geffen Records' global girl group KATSEYE, made up of Sophia, Manon, Daniela, Lara, Megan, and Yoonchae, has quickly risen to global fame since their 2024 debut. With bangers like Gnarly and Gabriella, the group has carved out a space that blends pop swagger with K-pop discipline. But their charm goes beyond the music. KATSEYE has become known for their carefree social media energy, chaotic live streams, and most of all, the close-knit bond they openly share. So when Manon began missing from several group activities, even if it was reportedly due to health reasons, fans couldn't help but take notice. KATSEYE fans question Manon's absence from group events The conversation picked up steam earlier this week after a viral tweet pointed out Manon's absence from several group promotions. Fans quickly compiled instances where she was either missing entirely or visibly sidelined, fuelling speculation. One major example is the group's billboard celebration for their Glossier partnership. While the other members posed together in front of the ad, Manon was notably missing, and her face on the billboard was partially covered by another member. The following day, Manon visited the billboard alone, sparking more questions. Many fans wondered why the group couldn't have waited just one more day for her to recover so they could appear together as a full unit. dreamiest collab, thank you Glossier!! billboard locations: 🩷Sunset Blvd & Alta Vista🩷Melrose Ave & Harper Ave 🩷Venice – Pacific Ave (between Windward Ave & Zephyr Ct) Adding to the frustration, fans noticed that in the group's promotional video for their Monster High collaboration, where the members reacted to their custom dolls, Manon had barely any screen time. Unlike the others, she was given little to no solo focus or commentary, which only fuelled suspicions of her being sidelined. idk maybe i'm reaching but i smell an agenda being pushed…. Fans also pointed out that Manon's individual photo was missing from KATSEYE's recent group interview with Hypebae, further fuelling concern that she's being excluded from key promotions. while were at it, hypebae didnt post a pic for manon When fans questioned Manon's absence, a Hypebae staff member shared, "To the EYEKONS: I am not in charge of what photos were sent for the article; they didn't send me a solo photo of Manon to be included, otherwise there would be one! I wouldn't purposely exclude her, guys." What's more concerning, per fans, is that the comment has now been deleted. For a growing number of fans, the signs are too frequent to ignore. Many are starting to suspect that Manon—the only Black member of KATSEYE—is being pushed to the sidelines. With her absence showing up in promo after promo, some now fear she might be gearing up for an unexpected exit. So, is Manon leaving KATSEYE? So far, neither HYBE nor Geffen Records has addressed the speculation about Manon's future in KATSEYE. Manon herself has stayed silent on social media. For now, the group still follows each other, but the silence is only adding to the unease. For all the latest K-drama, K-pop, and Hallyuwood updates, keep following our coverage here.

Katseye Rises Higher Than Ever With A Brand New Single

Katseye's 'Gabriella' debuts at No. 42 on the U.K. Official Singles chart and No. 64 on the ... More streaming list, giving the girl group its highest-charting release to date. SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA - JUNE 21: (L-R) Lara Raj, Yoonchae, Daniela, Manon, Megan and Sophia of KATSEYE attend the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 2025 at Barker Hangar on June 21, 2025 in Santa Monica, California. (Photo byfor Nickelodeon) After being created on the reality series Dream Academy, Katseye, which was formed as a joint effort between K-pop giant Hybe and Geffen Records, released its first EP SIS (Soft Is Strong) in the summer of 2024. The girl group, which includes members from several different nations but which is based in Los Angeles, made fans wait almost a year before sharing its new short project, Beautiful Chaos. The EP arrived on June 27, and its second single, which was pushed just days before the project dropped in full, brings the still-rising band to new heights on several rankings in the United Kingdom, where the musicians have found a solid fanbase. Katseye's Single 'Gabriella' Debuts on the U.K. Charts 'Gabriella' debuts on a pair of tallies in the U.K. The Beautiful Chaos track enters the Official Streaming chart at No. 64. The song almost breaks into the top 40 on the Official Singles ranking, which lists the biggest tunes of any style or language in the country by blending several forms of consumption. On that roster, it opens at No. 42. In both instances, 'Gabriella' brings Katseye to a never-before-seen peak, although the girl group is still just getting started in the U.K. 'Gnarly' Debuted Only a Few Weeks Ago The band has only landed a pair of hits on those rankings, as its debut smash in that nation, 'Gnarly,' arrived only a few weeks ago. 'Gnarly' peaked at No. 52 on the Official Singles chart and No. 93 on the Official Streaming list, barely becoming one of the 100 most played cuts throughout the U.K. for just one frame. Both of Katseye's Singles Chart Together Katseye's entire charting discography, which at the moment is made up of only 'Gabriella' and 'Gnarly,' appear together on the Official Singles list as 'Gabriella' opens at No. 42 and 'Gnarly' rises nine spaces to No. 74 in its eighth week on that ranking. Beautiful Chaos May Be a Big Win for Katseye There is a very good chance that Beautiful Chaos will also bring Katseye to new peaks when it reaches the U.K. charts in a few days. SIS (Soft Is Strong) stalled just underneath the top 40 last summer when it arrived, and as the new EP includes two hit songs, the girl group may be headed for some special highs.

Gabriella Wilde's 'tomboyish' style

Gabriella Wilde describes her style as "tomboyish". The Wonder Woman 1984 actress admits jeans and a T-shirt are the foundation of her wardrobe, and she rarely wears "anything nice" at home, because it will be "ruined immediately". Gabriella - who has three sons, aged 11, nine and five - told HELLO! magazine: "I'm not someone who wakes up, and puts on an outfit and make-up, you know? "I'm probably rolling out of bed and running outside to get the boys to school. "If I have anything nice, it will be ruined immediately if I wear it at home. "Children always will always bring you right back down to earth." The former Poldark star began modelling during her school years, and she was leaning towards a career in fine art painting. She said: "I started modelling very young - I was modelling on and off throughout school. Eventually, I left school and went into it full-time, then I started acting when I was 19. "At the time, I was at art college studying fine art painting, thinking that was the road I was going to take." However, she auditioned for Tim Burton's 2010 film Alice in Wonderland and then considered going down the acting route full-time. Gabriella added: "That was the first time I thought, oh, maybe I could act. As I'd never seen myself in that way. "I wasn't a particularly extroverted person, but then I discovered through film that a lot of the performance is internal and quieter. "It's not always like a school play where it's about getting up in front of everybody and being that kid in school, which I wasn't." Now, Gabriella's 11-year-old son is keen to follow in her acting footsteps. While she has warned him it is a "really hard" career, the Carrie actress thinks she might put him off acting altogether if the pre-teenager decides she is "really lame and embarrassing" in the near future. She said: "At the moment he's still young enough that he thinks my job is cool and I think he's interested in doing something creative himself. "But I'm pretty sure that I'm teetering on the edge of him thinking that I'm really lame and embarrassing because he's 11 - so I feel like I might put him off forever because it'll become deeply uncool at some point."
