I always struggled to find flattering trousers with my pancake bum – then I got the best summer pair in Primark for £10

Yes, they might look like pyjama bottoms but thankfully, they don't make my pancake bum look even flatter than it already is thanks to the flattering stripe design. They're bound to turn heads and the My rating: 8/10 Most read in Fabulous Next Blue/White Textured Gingham Wide Leg Trousers, £26 If you're looking for a pair of trousers that will feel as comfortable as your favourite 9 This pair look like PJs, but are a great length Credit: Abigail Wilson I'm undecided if I'm brave enough to wear these Fashion fans 'need' Primark's new £14 linen trousers - there's two colours to choose from and they're great for spring They're a really flattering style and yes, they're super casual and surprisingly, I'm a fan. I can't say they do any favours for my My rating: 6/10 New Look Cream Stripe Print Wide Leg Trousers, £29.99 Finding trousers fit for the beach has often been a struggle for me, and it appears that I'll need to continue my search after trying on this New Look pair. 9 The lack of pocket let this pair down Credit: Abigail Wilson Much to my disappointment, these And to top things off, they don't have pockets, which is a real bugbear of mine. If that wasn't bad enough, at just under £30, they're pretty expensive, so unfortunately don't get my seal of approval this season. My rating: 3/10 New Look Rust Crinkle Texture Wide Leg Trousers, £29.99 Things looked up for 9 While this New Look pair crease very easily Credit: Abigail Wilson But like the previous pair, they don't have pockets, which is a big letdown. And that's not all - they also If you don't mind working up a sweat and doing the ironing on holiday then these could be good for you, but for me, I'll unfortunately have to pass. My rating: 5/10 Hottest fashion trends of 2025 Fabulous' Fashion Editor Clemmie Fieldsend shares the biggest trends from the high street. The East/West Bag Baguette bags have had a good run, after returning from the 1990s' shoulders of Sarah Jessica Parker to modern-day fashion icons, like Hailey Bieber. In 2025, the East/West bag is a similar but elongated shape and has long, thin straps that are easy to throw over your shoulder. They've been on runway models' arms at nearly ever designer show - think Burberry, Givenchy and Bottega Veneta - and are hitting the high street now, too. Powder pink Bright fuchsia pink had its day after the release of Barbie in 2023 and now the more polished and expensive-looking pale shade is taking over for 2025. Pantone may say that it's the year of Mocha Mousse, but the catwalks say otherwise! From Prada to Erdem, the subtle look was all over the spring/summer catwalks, worn head-to-toe or on its own. If the sugary shade is too girly for you, then look to sharp suiting for a androgynous take on the colour. The shell jacket The '80s classic is back, but with a sleek and minimal new twist for 2025. We all know we're likely to see rain for most of spring, so your practical coat of choice should be a cagoule jacket. Depop revealed one of its big trend predictions for this year is retro sportswear, with surges already seen in '80s windbreakers'. Seen everywhere from the stylish streets of Copenhagen to the Miu Miu catwalk, now mums who have an emergency raincoat crumpled underneath their pushchair are very much in fashion! The turn-up jeans While the shape of jeans remains the same for this year and barrel-legs will still be everywhere, the way we're styling them is different. This season, transform your wide-leg, baggy denims into turn-ups. For this look, size doesn't matter, so while deep turn-ups are a hit from jean trend-leaders Citizens of Humanity, a slight fold is still just as good - but only as it's just one single fold. Peep-toe shoe Get your pedicures booked in sharpish, as this season your toes are the main event. After a long hiatus, the peep-toe has been welcomed back into the fashion fold, with brands like Hermes, Miu Miu and Tory Burch showing plain and embellished footwear in this style. From mules to pumps and clogs (yes, clogs will be around too!), there are lots of different styles that are set to sweep the high street. Sheer blouses See-through looks have always lived on the catwalk, but have rarely filtered into everyday life - until now. Designers Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford loved sheer looks on their S/S '25 catwalks and M&S even had sellout success with its black sheer pencil skirt last season. Expect to see more sheer looks lining supermarket aisles and high street shops in the form of skirts, tops and frocks. M&S Rose Pink Crepe Elasticated Waist Wide Leg Trousers, £29.50 If you're on the hunt for a colourful pair of trousers that are sure to turn heads, these M&S trousers could be just the pair for you. 9 This pink pair from an M&S get an 8 out of 10 Credit: Abigail Wilson These rose pink Crepe Elasticated Waist Wide Leg Trousers are not only a stunning shade, but they're spot on with the leg length too. Even better, they're incredibly versatile - they are appropriate enough to be paired with a white shirt for a business meeting, but are flowy enough that they'll look equally as great with a T-shirt and trainers. My fellow My rating: 8/10 M&S Navy Linen Blend Wide Leg Trousers, £27.50 The M&S Linen Blend Wide Leg Trousers are another pair selling out fast, but there's plenty of other colours I'm desperate to stock up in. 9 This navy pair are also impressive Credit: Abigail Wilson I got these comfy and Thanks to their lightweight material, I'm sure they'll be effective for keeping cool, without having to scrimp on style. Why Everyone Is Loving M&S Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale revealed to Fabulous why M&S is the shop of the moment. She explained: 'M&S has really pulled it out of the bag this season, there is so much good product to be excited about. 'A brand once known for its 'frumpy fashion' that notion is long gone with it now being one of the leading high street stores for womenswear. 'Its handbag range in particular is super strong with them selling 170% vs plan, with lots more designer dupes for just a fraction of the price. 'The brand is now also the #1 for style perceptions, compared to the #3 spot it had last year, this comes from a really strong design team focused on modernising the brand, not only taking into consideration how the pieces look, but how easy they are to wear also. 'Price is also a big factor with you being able to get many good quality pieces all for under £30. 'After having a sneak peak of the upcoming collection there are so many more amazing pieces that are dropping over the next few months to keep your eyes on. 'Think leopard print dresses, colourful co-ords, embroidered boho jackets, plus lots of swimwear and amazing accessories, as well as great wardrobe staples that will last year on year.' They are the perfect wide leg and the My rating: 9/10 Primark Wide Leg Plissé Trousers, £10 Unlike all of the other trousers I tried, these 9 But the winning pair is only £10 from Primark Credit: Abigail Wilson According to Primark bosses, these floaty trousers are 'made for movement (and compliments)' and I can definitely see why. The pull-on waistband went down well in my book and for once, I actually look like I have a bit of a bum in these. To top it off, they're incredibly lightweight and can also be great dressed up or down - what's not to like? My rating: 10/10 Primark Crinkle Wide Leg Trousers, £12 And it's clear that 9 And this pair are another great bargain Credit: Abigail Wilson They're only £12, so a proper bargain and they're really cool and airy too. The crinkle style is ultra flattering and even better, the colour is bang on trend. The only downside is they don't have pockets, but despite this, I can already see myself wearing these time and time again this season. My rating: 9/10 Unlock even more award-winning articles as The Sun launches brand new membership programme - Sun Club Why Primark is great for looking expensive on a budget By Clemmie Feildsend, Fabulous Fashion Editor AS someone who's no stranger to grabbing a last-minute outfit from Primark for a night out, it's about time that celebrities started catching on too. For as long as I've been heading out, Primark has been my go-to for those 'I have nothing to wear' moments, rushing in at the last minute to find something perfect. And I'm definitely not alone - on any Friday or Saturday night, you'll find plenty of shoppers doing the same thing, right before closing time. But no matter what, Primark always delivers. Now, Rita Ora is leading the charge, showing that you can snag a designer-worthy look without spending a fortune at high-end stores. While Rita's not rushing in last minute for a red carpet outfit, she's proving you can achieve the same high-impact style for much less. Looking stunning in her tailored suit alongside her mum Vera, Rita fit right in among the other A-listers dripping in Prada, Dior, and Victoria Beckham - if anything, she looked even better than some of the guests at The Fashion Awards. With Myleene Klass and Roxy Horner already jumping on the Primark bandwagon, I'm sure more stars will be following suit soon enough.

Gingham has been reinvented — here are nine new ways to wear it

Bye-bye, picnic tables and pastoral pursuits. Gingham has shed her good girl image and gone off-grid. It's not the first-time, mind you. We've got the 1950s to thank for that. Brigitte Bardot's pink gingham wedding dress comes to mind, as does the print's redux in mod subculture. Iconic or ironic, it's this unexpected tension that makes gingham such a shapeshifter. Quite frankly, I'm here for it. As with any sartorial shakeup, the key is in knowing how to stand out on your own terms. Take River Island's Scandi-inspired frill-collared blouse—a wardrobe workhorse that looks sharp with tailored trousers or playful with a gam-worthy mini and chunky loafers. Your mood, your call. On bare minimum days, look to layering pieces like a gingham jacket or gilet (try Arket or Penneys). Lean into amplified proportions like barrel leg jeans with vintage sneakers or keep it streamlined in head-to-toe black and white. For more colourful iterations, try socially and environmentally sustainable brand, Omnes. When it comes to dresses, consider playing against type. Whether a RIXO tea dress, a strapless seersucker classic or one of Ganni's smocked cowgirl minis, pair yours with fisherman sandals and thank me later. Likewise, consider accessories with intent. Clash an oversized blazer and New Balance kicks with a slicked back bun and a box-ticking hair bow from Oliver Bonas. Remember: it's all about the checks and balances. So yes, gingham is going through her experimental era, which means she's bound to court controversy or, at the very least, a new core. With any luck, we'll have a bit of both. List of the best supermarket pyjamas to keep cool this summer including ‘super comfy' Tesco set & prices start from £10

Marks & Spencer's Body collection includes pyjamas made with cooling technology, designed to keep you sweat-free all night long and it's super affordable too. SLEEP EASY List of the best supermarket pyjamas to keep cool this summer including 'super comfy' Tesco set & prices start from £10 Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE whole country is currently experiencing soaring temperatures, which is making getting a decent night's sleep more difficult than ever. And if you're anything like me, I never sleep naked so finding a pair of pyjamas that won't leave you waking up in a pool of sweat can be an absolute game changer. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up Staying cool in the prime British summer can be gruelling at the best of times, but when your fan starts circulating hot air and your bedroom feels as hot as Death Valley (mine certainly has this week) then the chances of a good sleep are pretty slim. And contrary to popular belief, according to sleep experts, sleeping naked doesn't actually help when it comes to beating the heat. Instead, covering up is proven to help you cool-down, so if you're having restless nights, then now is the time to reassess your nightwear. Think breathable, light-weight materials such as cotton, linen and silk. Plus the fit is important too, loose cuts, shorts and sleeveless sets are best for allowing your body to regulate in temperature, rather than trapping the heat in. Luckily, our favourite supermarket brands have got a wide range of budget-friendly pyjama sets that'll help you get your full 8-hours, without compromising on style too. And, you can pick them all up whilst doing the weekly food shop. 9 Striped Pyjama Set, £20, F&F Clothing at Tesco Credit: This pyjama set from F&F at Tesco is made from a lightweight cheesecloth fabric, making it ideal for hotter temperatures. The top is loose and airy, offering a breezier feel, while providing more coverage than a cami, thanks to its cap sleeves. Plus, the matching shorts have a comfortable elastic waistband. They've earned a five-star rating online, one happy customer wrote, 'Absolutely love them, cool and comfy'. At just £20 for the set, they're a great value buy and the classic blue and white stripe is a timeless print that'll be stylish for many seasons to come. And if you don't have a superstore nearby, you can now shop F&F Clothing online too! 9 Gingham Pyjama Cami, £14, M&S Collection at Marks & Spencer Credit: 9 Gingham Pyjama Shorts, £14, M&S Collection at Marks & Spencer Credit: Gingham seems to be everywhere at the moment, and this pink check set from Marks & Spencer instantly stood out to me. With frilled edges and tasselled drawstrings, they're a stylish pair with extra attention to detail. Made from pure cotton, the cami, with adjustable straps and the elasticated shorts are a great option for keeping cool on hotter nights. And warm weather doesn't mean compromising on style, the brand also offers several other pieces in the same check print, including a tie-front top, trousers and a night dress. So if you love the style, why not get the whole set and wear it all year round. 9 Pink El Sol Pyjama Set, £22, TU at Sainsburys Credit: If, like me, you're into a graphic print, then TU at Sainsbury's has got you covered. Sainsbury's shoppers have been going wild and the supermarket's graphic printed pj sets have taken social media by storm, with some TikTok videos reaching over 4.1M views. When I saw this set, I gasped. Not only is it perfect for a good night's sleep, with boxy sleeves and oversized shorts but the print is so stylish that I think it could even double up as a holiday co-ord or beach cover-up. Stay cool in more than one way and get more bang for your buck too. One TikTok user commented 'Omg giving Eleanor Bowmer vibes' and I couldn't agree more. And the best part is, this set is also a part of the 'mini-me' range so you can match with your kids too, cute! 9 Satin Floral Print Pyjama Set, was £20, now £11, F&F Clothing at Tesco Credit: Satin is also a great material for keeping cool at night, this set from F&F feels more grown up and sophisticated with a delicate floral print and lace detailing. Again, the shorts have an elasticated waist and the cami has adjustable shoulder straps so you can control how loose it is. If you love the print, it's also available in a night-dress, plus there's a matching robe which is not only stylish but practical for if you want to cover up a little before bed or on early mornings. 9 Floral Pyjama Set, £14, George at ASDA Credit: If you want to go sleeveless but like a little more support, then this ditsy-floral set from George at Asda is for you. The round-neck vest shape with wider straps offers more support along with the ribbed material, but it's light enough that you'll still keep cool. Plus, this ditsy floral print is everywhere at the moment, with more expensive versions from the likes of Skims and Lounge, this alternative is much more budget-friendly and shoppers agree, taking to TikTok with "Run, don't walk" comments. And you could even double-up and wear the vest as daywear. It also comes in a blue shade too, but it's not online at the moment so be sure to check your local store. 9 Printed Pyjama Set, £13, TU at Sainsburys Credit: This is the cheapest set of the bunch, at just £13. Graphic t-shirts and stripes are two of summer 2025's biggest trends, and rolled into one for this t-shirt set, which looks far more expensive than its price tag. They've got a 4.3 star review with one customer raving 'Lovely quality, nice lightweight fabric, cool short pyjamas'. I'd recommend sizing up in these for a slightly oversized feel that'll keep you from sweating throughout the night. 9 Printed Pyjama Cami, £12, Body by M&S at Marks & Spencer Credit: 9 Printed Pyjama Shorts, £10, Body by M&S at Marks & Spencer Credit: Marks & Spencer have created this set with hotter nights in mind. They're from the brand's Body collection and contain moisture-wicking technology which is designed to keep you cool all night long. The scrunch tie detailing on the back is a lovely touch and like most M&S pyjama sets, there's an alternative top and trouser, made from the same cooling material. The shorts have a drawstring fastening on the inside, but shoppers have recommended sizing down in the top which comes up slightly large.

‘Not appropriate for school at all' cry parents as they're left divided by Asda's new £8 ‘cropped' summer uniform

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THERE'S no doubt about it, schools can be very strict when it comes to uniforms for kids. From set colours to skirt lengths and shoe options, there's lots of factors that could get your little one sent home from the classroom. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 A new addition to Asda's school uniform range has left parents divided Credit: Alamy 2 Some people have insisted the top is 'inappropriate' Credit: Facebook/Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK But major supermarkets always offer school uniforms on a budget that meet the dress code. Aldi, Tesco and Sainsbury's are all launching back to school ranges from June 15 with prices starting from £1.50. And Asda sells school uniform all year round in store and online with more than 500 lines available online. Shoppers can get backpacks for £16, crew neck tops for £2 and polo shirts from £3, as well as lunchboxes and stationery. But a recent £8 addition to the supermarket's summer uniform has left parents divided on social media. The conversation was sparked after a delighted gran shared her bargain find on Facebook. Posting on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, which boasts 2.6million members, she said: "My grandaughter is not one for wearing dresses so got her this short set for school for the summer." The Gingham Top and Short School Set is available in sizes three to 14 and is available in light blue, navy, red, yellow, lilac, red, yellow and green. The picture of the summer uniform racked up more than 1,700 comments with the tie-front on the top being the hot topic. Many slammed the 'cropped' look of it as inappropriate and claimed their child's school wouldn't allow it. I make the UK's most controversial school uniform One fumed: "This isn't appropriate for any occasion or age let alone a school setting." A second wrote: "Would not be letting my child leave the house in a crop top under that age of 11 never mind to school!" A third echoed: "Not appropriate for school at all. I doubt schools would allow this uniform. My children's school wouldn't!" "My girls head teacher would have a coronary", a fourth claimed. A fifth added: "Not a chance would I let my girls 7/5 wear a top like that let alone for school! Why can't kids be kids!" Meanwhile, a sixth revealed: "Just a heads up, my daughter's friend wore this to school and got sent home at they said it wasn't appropriate uniform." Co-ord defence Others, however, are loving the practicality of the gingham co-ord and insisted the top is school-appropriate. One insisted: "My daughter has this and it's definitely not cropped. She's pretty average height and the knot detail sits exactly where the waist and of the shorts sit. "If you're worried put a vest underneath in case it rides up." A second sighed: "I can't believe how many people are complaining that it's a crop top.. it's for a CHILD who are significantly smaller than adults. "It looks smaller as it is designed to fit a children's body. It's concerning how quick some people are to sexualise children's clothing. "Let's focus on protecting kids, not projecting adult assumptions onto innocent outfits." "I think these are great instead of the dresses and then having to wear shorts under it. Perfect for summer", chimed in a third. A fourth wrote: "White vest underneath solves the issues for the Karen's. My daughter would love this set, looking as we speak." A fifth added: "My daughter has this for school, she likes it because it's more comfortable than a gingham dress (it's a lot looser around the body and arms) and she doesn't have to wear cycling shorts underneath so feels cooler. "And no it's not cropped, there's elastic with a bow so that it doesn't fly up when they are cartwheeling across the field or hanging upside down on the monkey bars! The shorts are also a nice length, they aren't super short." Meanwhile, a sixth pointed out: "It's just the same as a gingham dress, or gingham playsuit- but easier for the kids to go to the toilet."
