Janakrosha Yatra of BJP to conclude in Hubballi on May 11

The 'Janakarosha Yatra' launched by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against the Congress government in Karnataka on the issues of price rise, diversion of funds for guarantee schemes and Muslim appeasement will conclude in Hubballi on May 11. MLC and Opposition Whip in Karnataka Legislative Council N. Ravikumar said that while the fight against the government of Karnataka on various issues would continue, the 'Janakrosha Yatra' would have its formal concluding ceremony in Hubballi. The yatrawas launched in Mysuru. 'A mega rally in which Central ministers, leaders of opposition and senior leaders will participate will be held at Moorusavir Mutt ground in Hubballi at 4 p.m. While the Central ministers from Karnataka will participate, we are awaiting confirmation on participation of other Central ministers and leaders in the concluding ceremony,' he said. Elaborating on the reasons for launching the protest rally across Karnataka, Mr. Ravikumar said that ever since the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah-led government came into power, price rise has been a regular phenomenon. Till date, prices of around 50 products and services had been increased. 'It appears as if they (Congress) have a research team to find products left out from the list of price rise and tax. While claiming that they are for farmers and Dalits, the Siddaramaiah-led government has taken them for a ride by diverting the funds meant for their development and discontinuing the schemes launched for them by the previous BJP government. Muslim appeasement has reached its pinnacle. This government is not only anti-Hindu, it is anti-development. In his second term as CM, Mr. Siddaramaiah is a failed CM, with failure in every sector,' Mr. Ravikumar alleged. He alleged under the present government, law and order had completely collapsed, state-sponsored murders were being carried out, and Karnataka had become a sleeper cell for terrorists. On the hike in prices of fuel and LPG cylinder ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government came to power at the Centre, Mr. Ravikumar attributed it to fluctuation in the international market, but said that the money thus collected was being used for development works in various sectors. He said that prior to the Hubballi event, 'Janakrosha Yatra' would be held in Kolar on May 7, Tumakuru and Chitradurga on May 8, Ballari and Vijayanagar on May 9, and Chikkaballapur on May 10. Deputy Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Arvind Bellad alleged that all development work had been hit after the Congress came to power, and no fresh tender had been called for development work in his constituency. 'Through Janakrosha Yatra', we are highlighting how a common man has been hit due to price rise initiated by the present disposition. And the large gatherings at the protest rallies indicate people's anger against the government,' he said. Mr. Bellad alleged that the present government is trying to blame the Centre for its failure to take up work on sanctioned projects. 'The rule is that the State Government should initiate work, show utilisation of funds, and then claim reimbursement from the Centre. However, Congress leaders were just blaming the Centre without showing any utilisation of funds for sanctioned projects,' he alleged.

Hold Janakrosha Yatra against Centre: DKS tells BJP

Bengaluru, Apr 28 (UNI) Accusing the BJP-led Union government of being responsible for the rising prices of essential commodities, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Monday said the state unit of the BJP should direct its 'Janakrosha Yatra' against the dispensation at the Centre. Speaking at a rally organised here to protest against price rise, Shivakumar said, "We are taking out this rally to protect the people from the incessant price rise. We introduced the guarantee schemes to lower the burden of price rise on the common people. Ironically, the BJP government at the Centre raised the prices of petrol and diesel the very day the state BJP launched its protest against the state government." Alleging that the BJP is "exposing its anti-farmer mindset" by opposing the hike in milk prices, he said the increase directly benefits farmers. "When our Chief Minister earmarked Rs 52,000 crore for the guarantee schemes, the BJP alleged that our government would go bankrupt. However, we have not only successfully rolled out the schemes but are also investing heavily in development works. You blessed us in the last election, and we are committed to repaying that debt. Power is temporary, performance is permanent," Shivakumar said. Charging the BJP with indulging in "politics of emotion" while the Congress government focused on the "politics of livelihood," he said the people must question the BJP over its failure to control inflation. Expressing grief over the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir, he announced that the Karnataka government had decided to provide an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the families of victims from the state. Interacting with the media, Shivakumar warned the BJP against "disrupting" Congress events, alleging that BJP workers had "conspired" to show black flags during the protest rally. 'If the BJP continues such activities, we will not allow it to conduct any of its programmes in the state. I urge BJP leaders to rein in their workers, or else we are ready to launch a counter agitation," he said. UNI BDN SSP

Speaking at a rally to protest the price rise by the Centre, he said, 'We are taking out this rally to protect the people from the incessant price rise. We introduced the guarantee schemes to lower the burden of price rise on the common people. The BJP is demonstrating its anti-farmer mindset by opposing milk price hike which benefits the farmers. Ironically, the BJP government in the Centre raised the prices of petrol and diesel on the same day the state unit of the BJP started the protest against the State government.' 'When our CM ear-marked Rs 52,000 crore for the guarantee scheme, the BJP said our government would become bankrupt. We have not only rolled out guarantee schemes but are also investing a lot on development works. You have blessed us in the previous election. Power is temporary, performance is permanent. We are now working towards repaying your debt. We are also working hard to save the legacy of Dr B R Ambedkar, who is being insulted by the BJP government,' he added. 'BJP is trying to do politics of emotion while we do politics of livelihood. Our government has given guarantee schemes to lower the burden of inflation. People should question the BJP on what it has done to reduce the impact of price rise,' he said. 'We are saddened by the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir. Our state government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh for the victims from the state.' Won't let BJP conduct any function if they disrupt our events 'The BJP has conspired to send some of its workers to protest at our event by displaying black flags. If they continue with such attempts, I would like to warn the BJP leaders that we would not allow the BJP to conduct any events in the state. I urge the BJP leaders to advise its party workers not to indulge in such activities, else we are ready to launch a counter fight,' he said.
