Former Spartans star Jase Richardson signs multi-year shoe deal with massive brand
Former Michigan State star Jase Richardson is going to continue to ride with team Nike. Richardson wore Nike this past season with the Spartans -- who are sponsored by Nike -- and he will continue to roll with the well-known athletic wear brand at the next level too. ESPN's Nick DePaula reported on Friday that Richardson has signed a multi-year shoe deal with Nike. Richardson was selected by the Orlando Magic with the No. 25 overall pick in last month's NBA Draft. He starred for the Magic in a pair of NBA Summer League games following his selection and is expected to play a role on the Magic's roster next year as a rookie. As you know by now, Richardson was a superstar freshman for Michigan State this past season. He averaged 12.1 points per game and shot above 40% from three-point range. His strong play throughout the season turned Richardson into a clear-cut NBA Draft first round pick. Congrats to Richardson on his new shoe deal with Nike. Magic rookie Jase Richardson signs shoe endorsement deal with Nike
Orlando Magic rookie Jase Richardson has reportedly signed a multiyear shoe and apparel endorsement contract with Nike, according to Nick DePaula on X. Richardson was named to the All-Big Ten third team last season at Michigan State, averaging 12.1 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists on 41.2% shooting from 3-point range as a freshman. He ranked ninth in the country in box plus-minus (plus-11.6) and 14th in offensive rating (132). The 25th pick joins a talented roster of players signed to Nike, headlined by LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Paul George and Devin Booker. Others, like Victor Wembanyama, Zaccharie Risacher and Chet Holmgren, also represent the Swoosh. Richardson is the latest rookie to sign with an apparel company. Cooper Flagg (New Balance), Dylan Harper (Nike), VJ Edgecombe (Adidas), Kon Knueppel (Jordan Brand), Ace Bailey (Nike) and Jeremiah Fears (Adidas) are among those who have inked deals. The 19-year-old debuted with the Magic in the NBA Summer League, averaging 16.5 points, 2.5 assists, 1.5 rebounds and one block on 55.6% shooting from the field in two appearances. He produced 19 points and four assists in his last game on July 13. Richardson projects to check a lot of boxes for the Magic and was a player they were even looking at with the 16th pick before trading it away. He faces an uphill battle vying for rotational minutes, but he appeared to pass the test in his first action this summer.

Fresh off a productive run in the NBA Summer League with the Orlando Magic, rookie Jase Richardson pulled up to East Lansing to sit in on a practice at Michigan State. Richardson was named to the All-Big Ten third team last season with the Spartans, averaging 12.1 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists on 41.2% shooting from 3-point range as a freshman. He ranked ninth in the country in box plus-minus (plus-11.6) and 14th in offensive rating (132). The 25th overall pick was spotted this week at the practice facility chatting with former head coach Tom Izzo on the court. He also posted a photo on Instagram of the Spartans' court. He, along with second-year forward Tristan da Silva, was shut down after two appearances. The 19-year-old was highly-touted entering the 2025 NBA draft as a guard who takes care of the ball, shoots well and can defend. Former Spartan Jase Richardson back around program following strong NBA Summer League
The culture at Michigan State basketball is simply different, and former Spartans star Jase Richardson further proved that in the past few days. Richardson just finished up an impressive showing in his first career professional action during the NBA Summer League so what's next for him? Maybe a tropical trip or some other destination before preparing for his rookie season in the NBA? Nope, he's right back at Michigan State. Richardson posted an Instagram picture on Sunday showing he was back at the Spartans' practice facility with a simple comment about his return to East Lansing, Mich. -- "always home." You can see the post from Richardson below: Richardson starred for the Spartans in his lone year of college hoops this past season. As a true freshman, Richardson became the Spartans' top player and helped lead them to a Big Ten title and Elite Eight finish in the NCAA Tournament. That strong play resulted in him being selected by the Orlando Magic in the first round of the NBA Draft last month. Former players and those close to the program always talk about how the culture at Michigan State is different from many other places. This is just another example of how head coach Tom Izzo and others around the Spartans' program always make it a place where former players want to come back to and visit.
