Eagles get long-awaited update on Super Bowl ring ceremony

The final piece of the puzzle that is needed to place a capper on the Eagles' championship season gets its ETA. They say good things come to those who wait. To a man or woman, every member of the Philadelphia Eagles players, roster, coaching staff, and front office all agree. Last season is over. The page has been turned. It's time to win another Lombardi Trophy. Still, there's one final puzzle piece remaining in putting a bow on what was a championship season. No one has received their championship rings yet. A month ago, an update came. Philly was going to have to wait a little longer for their rings than previously expected. According to a report, the commissioned jewelers required additional time to add the finishing touches to the final product. Hey, no one is going to complain about that, right? After all, when one does something, they should aspire to do it right, shouldn't they? When they're done, everyone wants them to be a satisfactory representation of what was a phenomenal season. CBS Sports' Jeff Kerr provided an update via his X account. The expected arrival time is July 18. Don't bank on any leaks or advanced views. The design of Super Bowl rings is usually kept top secret. Rumor has it, however, that there may be the depiction of two Lombardi Trophies as Philadelphia is now a two-time Super Bowl champion.

Dolphins' throwback uniforms garner top billing, timeless recognition

Diehard Dolphins fans know that there's something special about Miami's throwback uniforms. Worn from 1966-1973, these original Dolphins threads housed the perfect 1972 season. It's this uniform that fans and staff remember each year when those champagne bottles pop to commemorate the fact that Miami still stands alone as the NFL's lone franchise to author an unbeaten season. And the Dolphins' throwbacks are receiving their proper recognition from CBS. In its ranking of the NFL's top throwback uniforms and helmets, the Miami Dolphins grabbed the No. 1 spot. The best throwback uniforms in the NFL belong to the Dolphins. Miami's classic uniforms date to their AFL days, the jerseys worn for the 1972 perfect season. The home aqua uniforms were top notch, but the white road uniforms are even better -- and the classic logo remains on the helmet. The Dolphins use their throwback jerseys as their alternate uniforms -- and who can blame them. - Jeff Kerr, CBS The simplicity of the Dolphin wearing the helmet with the Miami "M" jumping through the sunburst. Simple, yet timelessly symbolic. Miami wore its throwbacks twice last season, on Sept. 12 for Thursday Night Football against Buffalo and on Nov. 28 on Thanksgiving against the Green Bay Packers.

49ers' Throwback Uniforms Ranked Top 5

49ers' Throwback Uniforms Ranked Top 5 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Like many other teams in the NFL this season, the San Francisco 49ers will be breaking out a "throwback" look in 2025. In what has become a tradition for the 49ers, they'll break out their 1994 look as a throwback, which itself was a throwback to their 1955 season. Advertisement That makes the look and the unis extra special in San Francisco, and it also makes the look rank high on a recent list. "The 49ers didn't unseat the No. 1 throwback uniforms in the NFL, but the 1994 throwbacks are one of the best alternate uniforms in the game," writes CBS Sports' Jeff Kerr. "The 1994 throwbacks are actually throwbacks to 1955, which make this combination even more unique. "The black stripe on the pants are symbolic of the Super Bowl team in 1994, while the 3D numbering isn't seen around the NFL. The red and black are great for this set, but all the 49ers need are the red alternate helmets from that era to go with the set (although this technically is a throwback to 1994). " If we're going to pick one particular season of the two to commemorate, let's use the 1994 season. Advertisement In 1955, San Francisco went 4-8, missed the playoffs, and narrowly avoided a last-place finish in the NFL Western Conference to the 3-9 Detroit Lions. But in 1994, it was a different story. The team went 13-3, finished first in the NFC West, beat the Dallas Cowboys 38-28 in the NFC Championship at Candlestick Park, then beat the Chargers 49-26 in Super Bowl XXIX. That's a more memorable season for sure, so we'll go with that. Where do Jacksonville Jaguars 'Prowler' uniforms rank among NFL throwbacks?

Where do the Jacksonville Jaguars 'Prowler' jerseys rank among other throwback uniforms across the NFL? Where do the Jacksonville Jaguars 'Prowler' throwback jerseys rank among the other teams' throwback uniforms across the NFL? Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports ranked all 21 of the recent throwback remakes that we've seen as of late. The Jaguars and their Prowlers found themselves in the top 10, coming in at No. 9 overall. "Jacksonville did 1990s NFL fans justice when it debuted its late 1990s uniform design to commemorate the team's 30th season in the NFL," wrote Kerr. "These uniforms were a carbon copy of the 1998 uniforms, with the 1998 logo on the side." The Jaguars brought back the Prowler uniforms last season to celebrate their 30th season in the NFL. The team wore them in Week 5 against Indianapolis and then again in Week 15 against the New York Jets. The throwback combo features a black helmet with the Jaguars' original logo, teal jerseys with a running Jaguar on the shoulder, and white pants. NFL teams are permitted to wear alternate jerseys up to four different times during the 2025 season. Executive Vice President Tony Boselli has already said that they will be sure to "maximize" anytime they can wear the Prowler uniforms. As of now, the Jaguars cannot change what their full-time uniform looks like, but when that time comes, the Prowlers could be making a full comeback. "We can't change them immediately to be a full-time jersey. Stay tuned," Boselli said on 1010XL, via Jaguars on SI. "We'll communicate that as we have the opportunity to at our next jersey change. But for this year, expect us to maximize. I believe it's four times that we can wear the Prowlers, and we're going to maximize and wear those Prowlers as much as we can."

NFL analyst identifies Falcons' top need entering 2025 offseason

Since the 2018 offseason, the Atlanta Falcons have been searching for answers on the defensive side of the ball. Those same questions will be asked again in 2025 as the team looks to pair an explosive offense with a defense that is at least competent. Atlanta's pass defense gave up two passing touchdowns per game in 2024. Only the Carolina Panthers allowed more touchdown passes last season (2.1 per game). In 2023, the Falcons defense allowed less than 1.5 TD passes per game. Despite the additions of Pro Bowlers Matthew Judon and Justin Simmons, the team allowed 10 more touchdown passes and 21 more passing yards per game in 2024. CBS Sports highlighted one thing that each NFL team must do during the 2025 offseason. For the Falcons, CBS Sports' Jeff Kerr suggested the team improve its pass defense: The Falcons allowed 34 passing touchdowns this season, second most in the NFL (only the Panthers allowed more). Opposing quarterbacks had a 100.2 passer rating targeting Atlanta. Perhaps Jeff Ulbrich can turn things around, but they need more help next to Jessie Bates and A.J. Terrell. — Jeff Kerr, CBS Sports There is also the need for another cornerback to play opposite A.J. Terrell. To field a more competitive team, the Falcons have to find a way to improve their stable of defensive backs. Mike Hughes and Dee Alford are both free agents in 2025, which creates an even bigger issue. Hughes had a solid season but isn't exactly a lockdown cornerback. Alford is the team's starting nickel. The team may need to find replacements for both players, but that still leaves the pass rush, which is arguably an even bigger issue on defense. Circling back to the pass-rushing woes, the Falcons defense tied for the second-lowest pass-rushing grade in the NFL with a 59.0, according to Pro Football Focus. They also finished 31st in the league with 31 total sacks. The team may look to the draft to upgrade its pass rush in 2025. Mykel Williams from Georgia and Shemar Stewart from Texas A&M could both be available for the Falcons at pick No.15 if the team decides they don't want to trade up or down.
