Who is... Fishers firefighter Jeff Hague? The next contestant on Jeopardy! Here's when to watch

Jeff Hague, a firefighter with the City of Fishers, is bringing the heat to the Alex Trebek stage when he appears on the popular quiz show "Jeopardy!" The Carmel resident will compete Monday, July 21, according to the show's official website. Hague faces a stay-at-home mom from Connecticut and 12-time defending champion, Scott Riccardi, an engineer from New Jersey. Here's what we know. Hague has served the City of Fishers as a firefighter for more than 20 years and was recently promoted in late April to the rank of Captain. The firefighter and paramedic has kindled a long burning ambition to appear on "Jeopardy!," according to a social media post the department put out Sunday. "We're proud to cheer on one of our own," a spokesperson said, calling Hague's appearance on the hit quiz show "living a lifelong dream." Hague's chances of success might be extinguished though depending on well he does against Riccardi, who breezed through Friday's competition. Those familiar with famed Science Fiction author Isaac Asimov might have done well during Friday's Final "Jeopardy!" question. The category was "Science Words" and the clue was: "Expanding on a word created by a Czech playwright, Asimov coined this term in 1941 for a branch of science that didn't exist then." The answer: "What is Robotics?" All the contestants got it right but it was Riccardi, with a commanding lead of $22,400, who won the game. He wagered $8,000 and ended the night with $30,400. His total winnings so far are $312,501. "Jeopardy!" airs nightly at 7:30 p.m. ET Monday through Saturday on WTHR in Indianapolis. Visit to see when and where the show airs in your area. Five seconds of fame for Gillingham

Winnipeg's mayor received attention on a long-standing, popular game show this week. On Tuesday, Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings raised an 'answer' that noted Mayor Scott Gillingham by name. 'In Canada, his or her worship is for people with this government job, like Scott Gillingham of Winnipeg and Surrey, B.C.'s Brenda Locke,' the answer stated. A recent Jeopardy! episode name-dropped Winnipeg Mayor Scott Gillingham. While the show's contestants did not give the correct 'what is a mayor?' question in response, Gillingham noted the exchange on social media. A Jeopardy! contestant confused Paige Bueckers for Caitlin Clark in epic gaffe

Most all sports fans can tell you the difference between Indiana Fever superstar guard Caitlin Clark and Dallas Wings superstar guard Paige Bueckers. However, this contestant on Wednesday night's episode of Jeopardy! completely whiffed on identifying Bueckers during a description of her career at UConn. The contestant in question heard a pretty clear description of Bueckers with a photo to support it from host Ken Jennings, only to buzz in and guess that the prompt was describing Clark. Yes, this Jeopardy! contestant confused Bueckers for Clark. It's not that the contestant got the question wrong; it's that the contestant knew who Clark was and still guessed her after hearing a description and seeing a photo of Bueckers. Consider us pretty baffled. Well, maybe this Jeopardy! contestant will brush up on his WNBA superstars before competing on the show again.

‘Jeopardy!' under fire over ‘poorly phrased' James Bond clue

'Jeopardy!' is taking some heat for a confusing James Bond clue. Earlier this week, a Final Jeopardy prompt about the beloved film franchise left fans scratching their heads, as they argued that the clue was 'convoluted.' Advertisement During an episode that aired on July 7, host Ken Jennings announced that 'Movie Music' was the category for the Final Jeopardy clue. 'The last 2 best song Oscar winners whose titles were the same name as the movie they were in had this man in the leading role,' the clue read. Contestant Ashley had begun writing down actor Timothee Chalamet as her answer, which Jennings said was incorrect. The second contestant, Vince, wrote down, 'Who is Daniel Craig,' which was the correct answer. Advertisement The films referenced in the clue were 2012's 'Skyfall' and 2021's 'No Time to Die.' Adele sung the title song for the earlier film, while Billie Eilish performed the other. The episode's returning champion, Scott, also answered correctly, earning his third win. While Scott basked in his victory, fans were quick to slam the game show for its 'confusing' Final Jeopardy round. Advertisement 'This was poorly phrased. I assumed they were asking about the last 2 Best Song winners: 2024 and 2025. The strength of the comma!' one viewer wrote in the comments section of the 'Jeopardy!' YouTube page. 4 'Jeopardy!' came under fire this week after giving a Final Jeopardy question that some fans claimed was misleading. abc / Jeopardy! 4 The Final Jeopardy question from July 7, 2025. abc / Jeopardy! Another fan wrote, 'They're looking for Craig as the correct response, but I wonder if they would have accepted Bond as an answer. When the clue says leading role, it doesn't specify if they are asking for actor or character…' Advertisement While another viewer chimed in on X, formerly known as Twitter, 'Who is James Bond? Kinda convoluted FJ but manageable.' As passionate fans called out the Final Jeopardy prompt, game show host Jennings had previously said that he had '100% empathy' for the contestants' show fails. 4 Some fans pointed out that the 'confusing' phrasing made it seem like the question was asking about the previous two movies that won the Oscar for Best Song. abc / Jeopardy! While Jennings knows it's not easy to compete on the show, having once been a contestant himself, he told Fox News Digital in April that his 'heart just goes out to these people' who participate in the show. 'It's their first time on TV, and we throw them into this crucible. It's a high-pressure environment, so I'm always thinking, how can I make these people comfortable? Please, please get this right, somebody.' 4 The returning champion Scott got the Final Jeopardy question right and won the game. abc / Jeopardy! He added, 'I'm 100% empathy out there for these three people.' Advertisement The Seattle-born host began his 'Jeopardy!' career 20 years ago, winning over $2.5 million over the course of 74 consecutive games. Jennings took over hosting duties after the death of longtime host Alex Trebek from pancreatic cancer in 2020.
