Montreal police (SPVM) says it received a call at 5:20 a.m. asking that officers do a wellness check at a home on Baldwin Street near Yves Prévost Boulevard. 'When police officers arrived on site, they found an inanimate body of a woman aged 60 years old,' said Julien Lévesque, a spokesperson with Montreal police. 'Sadly, her death was determined on site.' An investigation has been launched to understand the events leading up to her death. The force says the incident is the 22nd homicide on its territory this year.

A 79-year-old cyclist is in critical condition after being struck by an SUV in the Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood. Montreal police (SPVM) said it received 911 calls around 11:25 a.m. Emergency services were sent to Edouard Montpetit Boulevard at Trans Island Avenue after a vehicle collided with a man on a bicycle. The man had sustained serious injuries to his upper body. 'The paramedics took charge of the victim and transferred him to a hospital centre in a critical state,' said SPVM spokesperson Julien Lévesque. The 44-year-old woman driver refused transport to the hospital. It is the second day in a row that police have responded to a cyclist getting his by a vehicle. On Thursday morning, a dashcam captured dramatic footage of a 28-year-old woman being run over by a semi-truck in the Old Port. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Police are waiting to confirm the health status of the man who was hit on Friday, and an investigation is ongoing.

Unidentified body found in the Rivière des Prairies in Montreal

An unidentified body was found Saturday afternoon in the Rivière des Prairies in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough of Montreal. Shortly before 3:20 p.m., police officers from the Montreal police's (SPVM) 10th precinct were informed of the possible presence of a body in the river. Once on the scene, police located an unresponsive and unidentifiable body near the shore, not far from the intersection of Gouin Boulevard West and Martin Avenue, explained SPVM spokesperson Julien Lévesque. 'Given the circumstances surrounding this event, SPVM investigators were called to the scene to analyse it,' he explained. The investigation will then be transferred to the Quebec Coroner's Office.
