Bill Gates' daughter reveals ChatGPT hack she uses to power viral content for her fashion tech startup: ‘We use AI everyday'
Phoebe Gates, the daughter of Bill Gates, is taking a cutting-edge approach to fashion-tech with her startup Phia, and artificial intelligence (AI) is right at the heart of it. In a recent episode of The Burnouts podcast, which she co-hosts with co-founder Sophia Kianni, the duo pulled back the curtain on how they've been using AI tools like ChatGPT to sharpen their marketing game and consistently roll out viral content. Rather than starting from a blank slate, Gates and Kianni have adopted a smart, research-heavy strategy: studying what already works online and building on it. 'We don't start from scratch,' Kianni noted. 'The internet exists for a reason.' That mindset drives much of their process. Their method is meticulous. They collect a trove of top-performing videos from Instagram and TikTok, catalogue them into spreadsheets, and break down why each one succeeded–looking closely at everything from the lighting and pacing to the narrative structure and emotional tone. As Gates explained, 'We'll create a spreadsheet, these are the top videos, here's why each one worked, and then we reverse engineer how to recreate that success.' ChatGPT plays a central role in this workflow. Once they transcribe and analyse these standout videos, they use the tool to pinpoint what exactly makes the content pop–whether it's a clever hook, the rhythm of the dialogue, or the visuals that grab attention. With those insights, they then ask ChatGPT to generate scripts and ideas tailored to Phia's style and values, creating content that both resonates with online audiences and feels true to the brand. The approach blends creativity with data, intuition with analysis–and for Gates, that's where the magic is. 'I use AI almost every single day, and it supercharges me,' she said. 'We're not just guessing what works, we are using tools to decode what already has.'

This is how Bill Gates' daughter is creating viral videos with ChatGPT, reveals hacks
Phoebe Gates, daughter of Bill Gates, is embracing artificial intelligence to power her fashion tech startup, Phia. In a recent podcast appearance, Gates, alongside co-founder Sophia Kianni, revealed how they harness ChatGPT to craft compelling marketing strategies and create viral video content with precision and ease. Speaking onThe Burnouts podcast, the duo offered a behind-the-scenes look into how AI plays a central role in Phia's social media and brand-building efforts. Far from using it simply as a creative assistant, Gates and Kianni explained that they 'reverse engineer' top-performing social media videos to produce their own standout content, tailored to Phia's aesthetic and mission. 'We don't start from scratch,' said Kianni during the conversation. 'The internet exists for a reason.' She described how they curate a database of high-performing videos from platforms like TikTok and Instagram, then break down their elements using AI. Gates elaborated on their method, 'We'll create a spreadsheet, these are the top videos, here's why each one worked, and then we reverse engineer how to recreate that success.' From lighting and structure to pacing and tone, every detail is dissected. A key part of this approach involves transcribing selected viral videos using ChatGPT. The tool is then prompted to analyse what makes the videos resonate, be it storytelling techniques, timing, visuals, or emotional appeal. Once these insights are in place, the team feeds ChatGPT information about Phia's brand identity, asking it to draft scripts and content ideas that mirror successful formats while staying true to the company's voice. The strategy goes beyond intuition, offering a data-driven way to tap into social media trends. Gates believes it is a game-changer for entrepreneurs. 'I use AI almost every single day, and it supercharges me,' she said. 'We're not just guessing what works, we are using tools to decode what already has.'

Credit: Instagram/@phoebegates Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates' daughter Phoebe Gates has gained a lot an attention recently with the launch of an ecommerce app. Phoebe co-founded the e-commerce app Phia with her former Stander roommate Sohpia Kianni. Now, Phoebe has shared a clever ChatGPT hack which she uses daily. Gates revealed that she uses OpenAI's popular chatbot to create viral video content. In recent podcast appearance Phoebe Gates and her business partner Kianni shared that they use 'reverse engineering' technique with ChatGPT to understand and replicate the success of popular online videos. Bill Gates daughter shares the ChatGPT hack s Phoebe Gates and Sophia Kianni recently appeared on The Burnouts podcast where they shared their approach towards digital marketing for their e-commerce app Phia. Gates and Kianni revealed that they have designed a browser extension which they use to compare clothing prices across 40,000 retail stores. Their methodology uses studying high-performing videos on social media platforms Instagram and TikTok. After this, they make an Excel sheet of all of the videos mentioning their key highlights such as the compelling "hook," the engaging "middle," and the effective "ending." After this they use the ChatGPT 'hack'. Kianni revealed that they use the chatbot to transcribe the viral videos. ChatGPT then analyses these transcripts and try to find out the underlying patterns which help the videos to become viral. Once done Gates and Kianni use this analysis and feed their own descriptions of Phia into ChatGPT, prompting the chatbot to create scripts that mimic the structure of the already viral videos. "You should not be starting anything from scratch. The internet exists for a reason," Kianni emphasized. Bill Gates' daughter Phoebe and her cofounder say ChatGPT helped them promote their fashion tech business
Phoebe Gates, Bill Gates' youngest daughter, says she and her cofounder tried to "reverse engineer" viral videos when crafting marketing content for their fashion tech startup, Phia. On Friday's episode of " The Burnouts" podcast — which Gates co-hosts with her cofounder, Sophia Kianni — the duo spoke about the marketing strategies they used to promote their business. Gates said they combed through social media platforms and compiled a list of videos that they thought were especially well done. "Then we'll make an Excel sheet: These are really good videos, here's why this video was good, and then we'll reverse engineer how to make that video," Gates said. "A lot of times, even for our simple founder videos, we're reverse engineering other content that we've seen do really, really well." For example, they used ChatGPT to model their own founder videos on two videos that had gone viral online, Kianni said. She first transcribed the videos using ChatGPT before using it to analyze what made them so successful. "I was able to break down, OK, what was the hook, how did they start the video, what was the middle, and then how did they end it. Then I turned that transcript into, like, I wrote a description of Phia, then I put that into ChatGPT, and I asked it, 'Can you turn this script into one that works for Phia?'" Kianni said. There are "patterns" behind why things go viral, and understanding them is crucial for marketing success, she said. "You should not be starting anything from scratch. The internet exists for a reason," Kianni said. The cofounders' approach is part of a broader shift: More and more people across the world are using AI tools like ChatGPT at work and in their personal lives. "I use AI almost every single day and it supercharges me," Gates said. Wall Street banks like Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are relying on AI-powered tools to boost productivity, while everyday users are turning to ChatGPT to brainstorm ideas and even as a substitute for therapy. Gates and Kianni, who were roommates at Stanford, launched Phia in April. The platform compares clothing prices across 40,000 sites to help users find the best deals. In the premiere episode of the podcast, Gates revealed that her father wouldn't let her drop out of college to start a business like he did. "They were very much like, 'You need to finish your degree; you don't just get to like drop out and do a company.' Which is so funny because my dad literally did that, and that's, like, the reason I'm able to go to Stanford or have my tuition paid," Gates said. In April, Bill Gates said that his daughter didn't ask for his help to fund her business. "I would have kept her on a short leash and be doing business reviews, which I would have found tricky, and I probably would have been overly nice, but wondered if it was the right thing to do. Luckily, it never happened," the Microsoft cofounder said. A representative for Gates and Kianni did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent by Business Insider outside regular hours.
