‘Serious hygiene issues in India…not racist to address': US Youtuber says he fell ill after eating at 5-star hotels
American Youtuber Tyler Oliveria recalled his India trip where he claimed to have faced hygiene issues after eating at 5-star hotels which 'source eggs from a filthy chicken farm' located next to a mountain of trash. He said he suffered four types of Salmonella due to it and was not doing racism to address the matter. Tyler got involved into whataboutery when an Indian woman called out foreign tourists, especially white travellers, for what she described as deliberately going to most 'unsanitary trains and buses' and "living worse than the way underprivileged people in India live' while visiting India to reinforce negative stereotypes. She added they go to unhygienic locations and comeback to post about how 'pathetic' India is. 'During my trip to India, I ONLY ate in 5 star hotels and still contracted 4 types of Salmonella. The hotel apparently sourced their eggs from a filthy chicken farm right next to a literal mountain of trash. There are serious hygiene issues that must be addressed in India. It is NOT racist to address the poor quality of life most Indians are subjected to while the upper caste insulates themselves from reality,' Tyler said. Many remarked in the comment section that he was 'defaming' the country. To put an end to criticism of what he described, the youtuber went on to share his medical reports as well. He further reacted to a user's comment, 'The 5 star hotels were about $100 a night. It was budget travel relative to American standards. Ambani has a billion dollar tower overlooking the slums. Your anger is misplaced.' Tyler didn't stop here and later shared a video showcasing 'largest chicken & egg market next to trash-infested landfill...' in Delhi. He mentioned, 'It smells pretty bad here. Look at those flies just eating away. The shrimp I ate at the hotel from here probably right.' Another confirmed, 'all from here'. He shows 'blood on the floor, bunch of flies, rats' and can be heard saying his cameraman was coughing due to the condition there. ( couldn't independently verify the authenticity of the video)

A video from IndiGo's Mumbai-Varanasi flight has surfaced on social media showing the pilot reassuring the agitated passengers after the flight was delayed for over an hour on Saturday. The aircraft was held at the runway for more than an hour due to technical testing. In the video, the IndiGo pilot is seen urging the passengers not to create chaos, maintain peace, and remain seated. The woman pilot also said: 'Let's talk, but please sit down. We will not close the door till you are satisfied, but please sit down. Let us clarify all the doubts.' An air hostess can be seen folding her hands to request a passenger to take his seat as he protests the delay. She said: 'All the tests on the aircraft have been completed.' Accoording to media reports, flight passengers expressed frustration at the lack of transparency and communication from the airline during their ordeal. The Mumbai-Varanasi flight, 6E 5028, took off at 9.53 PM, after over two hours of its scheduled departure at 7:30 PM, according to plane tracker flightradar24. IndiGo has not yet issued an official statement on the issue. An email sent by to IndiGo remain unanswered at the time of publishing this story. The incident has once again raised questions about communication protocols during the flight delays and the technical issues emerging during the flight. Recently, IndiGo's Ahmedabad-Diu flight carrying around 50 passengers and crew members had aborted take-off due to technical snag. As per the schedule, the flight was supposed to depart around 11.15 AM on Wednesday from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. The aircraft was in the take-off roll phase when the pilot decided to stop it on the runway. "A technical snag indication was noticed just before the take-off on IndiGo flight 6E7966 operating from Ahmedabad to Diu on July 23," IndiGo had said in a statement. This Hindi movie to have world premiere at New York Indian Film Festival; director reveals why he chose dark comedy
The feature film Kaisi Ye Paheli, written and directed by debutant Ananyabrata Chakravorty (ABC), is slated to have its world premiere at the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF), scheduled to run from June 20 to 22, 2025. He revealed they chose dark comedy and murder mystery because to 'connect with wider audience' as they make it 'palatable and accessible' and didn't want to take a 'serious tone while addressing a serious matter'. 'We are addressing a serious matter, and therefore didn't want to take a serious tone. It's only when we make something palatable and accessible that we are able to connect with a wider audience. Hence the exciting genres - so the audiences enjoy the story, before they take home the theme and begin a conversation around it,' Chakravorty shares in an exclusive conversation with The film has been selected for the Competition Section and nominated for Best Screenplay and Best Debut Film. Its premiere will take place at Village East by Angelika on June 21. When asked how the premiere selection feels, the director mentions, 'Maybe the word is validation, but it's more special because we didn't tailor the film for festivals. We could've made it to a good festival by following the usual themes and narratives that festivals expect from Indian filmmakers. But we didn't take that road. Instead, we went ahead with the story that we wanted to tell - our way. Getting recognised by such a reputed festival despite that is what makes it all the more special for us.' Produced by Nishu Dikshit and Take Pictures, Kaisi Ye Paheli explores a lonely mother's attempts to connect with her disrespectful policeman son by helping him solve a murder. It is set against the backdrop of a small hill town in Northeast India and was shot in Sikkim. Chakravorty says, 'We have tried to address loneliness and the conflict between old mothers and their grown-up sons - which we feel doesn't get talked about much in our society and pop culture.' The film features Nadiya Ke Paar fame actress Sadhana Singh, Kaala Paani actor Sukant Goel, and Rajit Kapur, who returns to the screen as a Bengali detective. Chittaranjan Giri takes on the role of a character from the Northeast. "Sadhana is a natural performer. She has such a beautiful motherly charm, and I knew the moment I met her that she is the perfect actor to play the mother in our film - because of the uncanny mix of dignity and simplicity with which she carries herself. I had to put in very little effort towards directing her - just a narration and a couple of sessions on the intentions of each scene, and that was it - she got the character," Chakravorty adds.
