Two college students remanded for three days over bullying case
KUALA TERENGGANU: Two students from Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM), Besut, who were detained on Friday (June 27) afternoon, have been remanded for three days over a bullying case at the college. Senior assistant registrar Yuhanis Mohd Roslan at the Magistrate's Court issued a remand order for two 15-year-olds to be investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code. They were detained at 4pm on Friday at the Besut district police headquarters. Previously, five students from the junior college, aged 15 to 17, were remanded until Sunday to assist the investigation. Besut police chief Superintendent Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu said two Form Two students at MRSM Besut claimed to have been bullied by senior students in the dormitory on Tuesday night. One victim alleged he was forced to squat, had slippers placed on his head for 40 minutes, was punched in the stomach and slapped, leading to abdominal pain and bruises on his back. – Bernama

Two more Besut MRSM students remanded over alleged dorm bullying
KUALA LUMPUR, June 28 — Two more students from the Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Besut, Kuala Terengganu have been remanded for three days to assist investigations into an alleged bullying incident at the school. According to Utusan Malaysia, the remand order, which runs until Monday, was issued by Assistant Senior Registrar Yuhanis Mohd Roslan at the Magistrates' Court in Kuala Terengganu to allow police to investigate the case under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting. Besut police chief Superintendent Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu said the two 15-year-old students were detained at about 4pm yesterday when they turned up with their families at the Besut District Police Headquarters. So far, two Form Two students have come forward claiming they were assaulted by a group of older students in an incident at the school dormitory around 11.30pm on June 24. According to police, the first victim was allegedly forced into a semi-squatting position with slippers placed on his head for about 40 minutes. He was also punched in the stomach and slapped, resulting in pain to his abdomen and right ribs, along with bruising on his back. The second victim reportedly sustained injuries to both legs. Yesterday, five other students aged 15 to 17 were also remanded until tomorrow in connection with the case.

KUALA TERENGGANU: Two more students from Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Besut have been remanded for three days starting today to assist in the investigation into the bullying of a Form Two student at the school. The remand order for the two 15-year-old boys was issued by Senior Assistant Registrar Yuhanis Mohd Roslan at the Kuala Terengganu magistrate's court. The suspects, both Form Three students, will be held until Monday to facilitate investigations under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting. It was reported yesterday that two students were arrested over the bullying incident. Five other male students from the same school, aged between 15 and 17, had been remanded until Sunday. Police received a report about the bullying incident involving a Form Two student at around 6.48pm on Wednesday. Besut District Police Chief, Superintendent Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu said preliminary investigations revealed that the 14-year-old victim claimed he was forced to remain in a semi-squatting position with a slipper placed on his head for approximately 40 minutes.

Besut MRSM bullying case worsens as two more students detained

Besut police chief Supt Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu confirmed the two Form Three students surrendered at the district police headquarters with their families at 4 pm today. Five students were earlier remanded for three days, while the latest detainees will face the Kuala Terengganu Magistrate's Court tomorrow for a remand order. Police detain two more MRSM Besut students over alleged bullying incident
JERTIH, June 28 — Two more students from the Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Besut, Kuala Terengganu have been detained by police in connection with an ongoing bullying case at the school. Besut police chief Supt Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu said the two Form Three students were detained at 4 pm yesterday after presenting themselves at the Besut district police headquarters with their families. 'The arrest of the two brings the total number of detained students from the school to seven: six Form Three students and one Form Five student. 'Today, five students have been remanded for three days while the two students who were just arrested this evening will be brought to the Kuala Terengganu Magistrate's Court tomorrow to obtain a remand order,' he said in a statement today. He said the remand order was issued against all suspects to enable an investigation under Section 147 of the Penal Code (for rioting) to be carried out. In a related development, Azamuddin said yesterday evening his department received a report regarding another Form Two student who was also allegedly a victim in the same incident. 'The victim claimed to have been bullied by the same group in the incident that occurred at 11.30 pm on Tuesday at the boarding school's hostel, resulting in pain in both right and left legs.' Azamuddin said in a statement yesterday that a Form Two male student at Besut MRSM claimed he was bullied by several seniors in the hostel at 11.30 pm on Tuesday. He said that based on the report by the victim, he was ordered to crouch in a semi-squat position with slippers placed on his head for 40 minutes, punched in the stomach and slapped, causing the victim to experience pain in his stomach and right rib as well as bruises on the back of his body. — Bernama
