Police detain two more MRSM Besut students over alleged bullying incident
JERTIH, June 28 — Two more students from the Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Besut, Kuala Terengganu have been detained by police in connection with an ongoing bullying case at the school.
Besut police chief Supt Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu said the two Form Three students were detained at 4 pm yesterday after presenting themselves at the Besut district police headquarters with their families.
'The arrest of the two brings the total number of detained students from the school to seven: six Form Three students and one Form Five student.
'Today, five students have been remanded for three days while the two students who were just arrested this evening will be brought to the Kuala Terengganu Magistrate's Court tomorrow to obtain a remand order,' he said in a statement today.
He said the remand order was issued against all suspects to enable an investigation under Section 147 of the Penal Code (for rioting) to be carried out.
In a related development, Azamuddin said yesterday evening his department received a report regarding another Form Two student who was also allegedly a victim in the same incident.
'The victim claimed to have been bullied by the same group in the incident that occurred at 11.30 pm on Tuesday at the boarding school's hostel, resulting in pain in both right and left legs.'
Azamuddin said in a statement yesterday that a Form Two male student at Besut MRSM claimed he was bullied by several seniors in the hostel at 11.30 pm on Tuesday.
He said that based on the report by the victim, he was ordered to crouch in a semi-squat position with slippers placed on his head for 40 minutes, punched in the stomach and slapped, causing the victim to experience pain in his stomach and right rib as well as bruises on the back of his body. — Bernama

We have lawyers ready to fight this case in court,' he said. Fifteen people were killed in the accident between the bus carrying the UPSI students and a car. The collision on the Gerik-Jeli East West Highway, near Tasik Banding, involved a total of 48 victims, 13 of whom died at the scene and two others at the hospital. On June 20, road transport department (JPJ) director-general Aedy Fadly Ramli said JPJ is finalising investigation papers for possible legal action against the bus operator and company. He said the papers will be submitted to the deputy public prosecutor for a decision on potential charges.

Melaka boy, 11, suffers head injury after father allegedly throws chair over lukewarm ‘kopi O'
KUALA LUMPUR, June 28 — Authorities have confirmed that an 11-year-old boy sustained a head injury after he was allegedly struck by a chair thrown by his father after the child served coffee that was deemed not hot enough. According to MalaysiaGazette, Melaka state executive councillor for women, family and community development, Datuk Kalsom Noordin, said the incident occurred when the boy was home alone with his father. His mother was at work at the time. 'The father asked the child to prepare a cup of hot kopi O. When the drink was not hot enough, he became angry after the boy insisted he had already heated it. 'Frustrated and disbelieving, the father threw a chair, which hit the boy's head,' she reportedly said. Kalsom added the man later cleaned the wound, and the boy only told his mother what had happened when she returned home. The child was first taken to a clinic in Cheng but was referred to Melaka Hospital due to the clinic's lack of X-ray and CT scan facilities. 'Scans at the hospital showed no serious injuries,' she added. She also said officers from the Social Welfare Department (JKM) would visit the family's home on Monday to record statements and assess the next course of action.

New Zealand woman injured after 6m fall at Kanching Waterfall
KUALA LUMPUR, June 28 — A 52-year-old New Zealand woman was injured after falling from a height of about six metres at Kanching Waterfall in Rawang today. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said an emergency call was received at 11.52am. 'A team from the Rawang Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene,' he said in a statement. 'The victim, a New Zealand national, had fallen from the waterfall from a height of approximately six metres.' He said initial checks found that the woman sustained injuries to her left leg, left arm and spine. The victim was conscious and taken to hospital for further treatment.
