Mercedes unveils CLA Shooting Brake EV with 473-mile range and fast charging
Mercedes has revealed the all-new CLA Shooting Brake, a premium electric estate that combines the brand's sporty CLA shape with impressive range and record-topping charging capabilities. The electric CLA Shooting Brake should be on the road by March 2026. The second model in a completely new vehicle family built on Mercedes ' modular EV architecture, the CLA Shooting Brake boasts a claimed range of up to 473 miles in the most efficient trim – placing it among the best long-range EVs around. A standout feature of the new platform is its 800V architecture, which enables fast DC charging that delivers 193 miles of range in just 10 minutes, with a maximum charging power of up to 320kW. 'The new CLA Shooting Brake is designed for those who appreciate the dynamism of a sporty vehicle but don't want to compromise on space and practicality in everyday life," said Mathias Geisen, board member at Mercedes-Benz. 'It combines intelligent technology and efficiency to deliver a fresh, engaging driving experience.' Visually, the CLA Shooting Brake is identical to its saloon counterpart up to the B-pillar, featuring a low profile and a distinctive front panel with 142 individually illuminated chrome-look LED stars. Where it differs is in the extended roofline, which slopes gently towards the rear to create a more spacious interior. An optional one-piece panoramic glass roof can be specified with an illuminated 'starry sky' effect, integrating another 158 individual stars into the glass surface. Practicality has also been improved. The boot offers a volume of 455 litres, expanding to 1,290 litres with the rear seats folded. You also get a 101 litre illuminated frunk for additional storage, while a towing capacity of up to 1,800 kilograms places it among the top haulers in this EV category. Inside, the CLA Shooting Brake features the next generation of the MBUX infotainment system, which integrates Google Gemini and ChatGPT as its virtual assistants. The centrepiece is the optional MBUX Superscreen, which extends across the entire width of the dashboard and integrates up to three displays. Mercedes has also reintroduced physical roller and rocker switches on the new multifunction steering wheel for key functions like volume controls. At launch, two all-electric models will be available. The rear-wheel-drive CLA 250+ Shooting Brake will have a power output of 200kW and sprints from 0 to 62mph in 6.8 seconds. The more powerful, all-wheel-drive CLA 350 4MATIC Shooting Brake produces 260kW and achieves the same sprint in five seconds. Both models use a new-generation lithium-ion battery with a usable energy content of 85kWh. The electric drive system features what Mercedes calls a 'permanently excited' synchronous motor and a new two-speed gearbox on the rear axle, designed to provide responsive acceleration from a standstill while ensuring efficient power delivery at higher speeds for comfortable long-distance cruising. In a nod to market flexibility, Mercedes also confirmed that a 48V mild-hybrid version of the CLA Shooting Brake will be available early next year.

BMW Vs. Mercedes U.S. Sales Race: There's A Clear Leader In 2025
BMW Vs. Mercedes U.S. Sales Race: There's A Clear Leader In 2025 originally appeared on Autoblog. With the first half of the year behind us, we have a clearer idea of which manufacturers are leading the 2025 sales race and which ones are struggling. In the luxury segment, we already know that BMW is crushing Audi; the former sold twice as many cars as its rival in the first six months. But what about Mercedes-Benz? We've had to wait a bit longer for Mercedes to post sales, but now it has. While it is performing much better than Audi, Mercedes sales are down in the United States relative to last year, and it's some way off of BMW's numbers. Let's take a closer the USA alone, Mercedes has sold 142,000 cars in the first half of the year, a drop of 6% year-on-year. By comparison, BMW sold 178,499 units and saw a 1.6% increase in sales over the same period. Audi is in a distant third spot, notching up 81,951 units, a drop of 12%. BMW, therefore, is the only one of the three that has been able to grow this year. In terms of van sales in the USA, Mercedes has sold 15,700 of those so far in 2025, a massive 42% drop. "Overall, we see good customer demand in the U.S. and Germany for our products including our Top-End vehicles, despite tariffs impacting our global sales in the second quarter,' said Mathias Geisen, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes Benz Group AG. Marketing & Sales. It was a better Q2 for Mercedes USA, though, with 74,600 cars sold, an increase of 11% compared to Q1 2025. View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article Unlike BMW and Audi, Mercedes-Benz does not report individual sales per model. The brand only provides broader insights and sales figures, so a direct comparison with its rivals is tricky. The manufacturer pointed out that demand for its top-end models was strong, but did not go into more detail about how much each model sold. This segment includes models like the Mercedes-Maybach S, S-Class, EQS, G-Class, EQS SUV, and high-performance Mercedes-AMG models. Competing models from BMW, such as the 7 Series and X7, are both up in sales in 2025. Mercedes' top-selling car globally is still the GLC, while its stylish new CLE is selling strongly globally, too. Plug-in hybrid sales were up 34% globally in Q2, and in Europe, the share of electrified models hit 40%. Still, Mercedes is 36,499 models adrift of BMW in the first six months in the USA, and at this rate, it's unlikely to steal the luxury crown back from BMW. A lot can happen in six months, though, so we'll keep on eye on how these brands weather the tariff storm. BMW Vs. Mercedes-Benz opens world's first Maybach Brand Center in Seoul
Korea surpasses 10,000 Maybach units sold — trailing only US, China Mercedes-Benz has opened the world's first Maybach Brand Center in Seoul as the German luxury automaker emphasizes the importance of the Korean market for its top-end brand. 'With the opening of the world's first Maybach Brand Center, we are taking the next step in redefining customer experience at the highest level,' said Mathias Geisen, Mercedes-Benz board member in charge of marketing and sales, during the opening ceremony of the new facility on Monday. 'Korea is not only one of our key markets — it is also a place where the spirit of modern luxury is deeply appreciated and constantly evolving. This new space is our response: a place where exclusivity, craftsmanship and personal connection come together in a way only Mercedes-Maybach can offer.' The five-story, 2,795-square-meter Maybach-only building is located in Apgujeong in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. This premium retail district is home to major high-end global brands, as well as the Galleria Luxury Hall East and West department stores featuring luxury fashion brands. According to Mercedes-Benz, the exterior of the Maybach Brand Center sought to reinterpret the country's traditional design heritage to create a contemporary and timeless architectural language. Its pleated surface and curved roofline drew inspiration from Korea's traditional clothing and housing, Hanbok and Hanok. Inside the building, a cathedral-type interior with a high ceiling gives the first floor a feeling of grandness. To celebrate the center's opening, Mercedes-Benz launched three Korea-only limited edition models of the Mercedes-Maybach Silver Lining -- 10 units of the S-Class, a GLS and an EQS SUV. The all-new Mercedes-Maybach SL, an ultra-luxurious two-seater convertible, was also showcased for the first time in the country. According to Mercedes-Benz Korea, the Maybach Brand Center will operate on a reservation-only basis, with each customer welcomed by a dedicated sales consultant and product expert upon arrival. The new facility will offer exclusive membership services, professional valet parking, signature food and beverages, and a variety of personalized programs tailored specifically for Mercedes-Maybach owners. 'Since its official debut in 2004 in Korea, Mercedes-Maybach has become the preferred choice for Korea's distinguished leaders, visionary entrepreneurs, and cultural icons -- those who seek impeccable quality and profound expression of success and dignity,' said Mathias Vaitl, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea. 'We are privileged that more than 10,000 customers have chosen Mercedes-Maybach, marking Korea as one of the most important Maybach markets globally. We are confident that the new Maybach Brand Center will exceed the expectations of our valued customers.' Despite its relatively smaller market size, Korea was the third best-selling market for Maybach last year behind the US and China as it sold 1,363 units. Since its launch in 2004, Mercedes-Benz Korea logged a record-high of 2,596 Maybach vehicles sold in the country in 2023. The high-end brand announced in November 2024 that Maybach sales had surpassed the 10,000 milestone. Although Mercedes-Benz operates Maybach Atelier, the first brand concept center and showroom established in 2022, in Shanghai, China, Mercedes-Benz Korea noted that the newly opened center is unique worldwide as the brand's only showroom in which an entire building has been dedicated solely to the Maybach brand.
