A closer looker at Nebraska's class of 2026 after recent commitments
The Nebraska Cornhuskers' class of 2026 landed its seventh and eighth commitments on Monday evening. Cornerback Danny Odem and running back Jamal Rule announced their commitments to the Huskers. Odem is the second defensive recruit, along with in-state linebacker Jace Reynolds. The Florida native recorded 45 tackles, two interceptions, three pass deflections, and a fumble recovery in his junior season. He also played on the offensive side of the football and recorded five receptions for 40 yards on the year, according to statistics from Rule, a Salisbury, North Carolina native, played his junior year at Charlotte Christian, where he made an impact despite playing in just seven games. The running back rushed for 1,236 yards, averaging 9.2 yards per carry, and 15 touchdowns. The class of 2026 still has a long way to go before it is finished. Omaha quarterback Jett Thomalla commits to the Alabama Crimson Tide Class of 2026 four-star quarterback and Omaha native Jett Thomalla flipped his commitment from Iowa State to Alabama on Tuesday. This was according to On3's Hayes Fawcett. The Nebraska native is ranked as the No. 13 overall quarterback in the 2026 class and the top player in the state of Nebraska, according to the On3 industry rankings. The quarterback had several offers on the table. This included schools such as Alabama, Iowa State, Arizona, Iowa, Missouri, Virginia Tech, and Washington State. The Huskers never offered Thomalia. The quarterback threw for 3,664 yards, 47 touchdowns, and three interceptions last season for Millard South, according to statistics from He led the Patriots to a 13-1 record and a Class A Nebraska state championship. The state of Nebraska has seen a rise in local talent over the past couple of recruiting cycles. Thomalla is certainly the latest example of that, and part of a positive trend for Nebraska high school football overall. With Dylan Raiola on the roster, future quarterbacks Dayton Raiola and Trae Taylor, it's not that surprising that the Huskers never offered a scholarship. Nebraska makes top five for 2026 four-star linebacker
Nebraska makes top five for 2026 four-star linebacker Nebraska football made the top five on Thursday for 2026 four-star linebacker Calvin Thomas. Thomas made the announcement on social media. The Texas Longhorns, North Carolina Tar Heels, Michigan Wolverines, and SMU Mustangs also made his top five in addition to the Huskers. Thomas is the 42nd overall player in the state of Texas and the 22nd overall player in his position for the 2026 class per Rivals rankings. He has 34 offers in total, including some from Big Ten schools. Michigan, Illinois, Oregon, UCLA, USC, and Wisconsin have offered him in addition to the Huskers. He most recently received an offer from Syracuse on June 3. The dynamic linebacker recorded 69 tackles, seven sacks, and an interception last season for Cyprus Ranch High School, according to statistics from The Huskers have some work to do in the 2026 class. The class currently ranks 62nd overall with four total commitments per Rivals Team Rankings. There are currently several visits set up for this month, it will be interesting to see what this class looks like at the end of June. For now, Nebraska is in good company for Thomas. He would be a playmaking linebacker, and also a solid fit in John Butler's defense. Nebraska offers a top Alabama playmaker
Nebraska offers a top Alabama playmaker Nebraska football offered 2027 four-star edge defender Jabarrius Garror on Tuesday. He made the announcement on social media. Garror is the eighth overall edge defender in the 2027 class, and the third overall player in his class from the state of Alabama per the On3 recruiting rankings. He committed to the Crimson Tide on July 31, 2024. The last couple of months have seen the Auburn Tigers and Crimson Tide really make a push for the linebacker. He has visited Alabama four times, all for unofficial visits. He most recently did so on March 27. He took a visit to Auburn on January 25. He was a playmaking linebacker as a sophomore last season. He recorded 104 total tackles, 21.5 sacks, and five pass deflections, according to statistics from The Huskers could benefit from a playmaking edge defender like Garror. They have visits set up with several impact playmakers in the 2027 class, and he would definitely be a strong addition to a defense that is young but talented.
